Greece 2022

We leave here tomorrow, its been a great 6 nights and the Sosta was full this weekend. Its starting to clear a bit now yet its still very hot in the high 20s but with a nice breeze coming off thre Adriatic so we might get a decent sleep tonight. San Marino tomorrow and looking forward to it.
So after your time in Greece , is it your favourite destination in Europe ?

Hi again Phil and Mena, breakfast in Italy, lunch in Switzerland and dinner in France. Once again lovely to meet you both safe travels.

Anouther great question! We have both truly enjoyed Greece and yet seen so little of it.
Is it our favourite destination in Europe ????
No! We enjoy so many countries in Europe and have visited quite a few. Our favourite is Spain.

Your well up now and have covered some good ground. We're still in Italy and will be mooching around for a few more days before crossing into Slovenia. We're going to visit the caves and then do a little exploring before crossing into Austria. Safe Travels.

If you asked me the same question I think the answer might be yes, but then it was my second home on my boat for nearly 30 years.

Re-visiting in the MH last year felt just the same.

We also love France and have had good times in Germany.

We have yet to get to Iberia, which is really my wish. That is because of limited time away from family commitments and it is a long drive from Poland. We did manage a couple of nights in Spain after ferry from UK to Santander to visit the Pyrenees, so want to go back, but mainly to the North and then down into N. Portugal, family permitting.

The 'Big Tour' will be Norway, Scotland, Ireland, France Spain, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Balkans(somehow), Poland. Subject to Schengen 90/180 - or just wing it and tell them I am married to the Pole.

Dreams, Dreams, Dreams!

Any where in Spain in particular ?

Greece is still my favourite country. Its more expensive than Spain but more beautiful in my opinion and the people are very friendly. That said spain is a close second

I am just interested in people’s experiences , when they have spend more then just a few weeks in a country, we sold up and are travelling for a year, then the idea is to settle down somewhere, on the shortlist are 4 countries, Greece, Italy, France and Spain, with noting that Greece is the country where I have been on holiday at least 30 times, and I really like it, the downside is that it is far away in travel terms for family and friends.
In a couple of weeks we will conclude a couple of months in France , the impression so far is not too positive, it has been so quiet in so many places that it is a bit boring, I like some life around me, also land scape wise, besides the alps and the Pyrenees , it’s all a bit mediocre,
Italy will be next after a month back in the UK, Spain will be waiting over the winter months , so who knows? 😎

I do tend to keep my favourite FLT spots to my self but happy to share my love of the National Parks, Andalusia and Galicia.
I thought yourr favourite flt spot was cullera?

You and 5000 others 🤣🤣🤣🤣

We're back in San Marino and this time not fogged in. The surrounding views alone are worth the visit. Its also a shoppers paradise and the place is rammed. Beginning to cool down now so we will eat here this evening and have a few beers. Its not cheap. 4 Euros for a small Italian beer and 8 euros for a local beer. Guess which one we're drinking. Almost all my pictures on my SLR so they will be uploaded at a later date.

We were not impressed by San Marino, especially trying to park.

We only went because we had parked for night a few kms away and it seemed OK to add another country. We soon left.

Parking has been easy in the motorhome. There is a free Aire just below the lift and it has 3 levels for parking. I imagine at the weekend it would be rammed though.

Quite a few Yanks here plus other nationals. The shops are really interesting as there are more than a few that sell death and destruction and by that I mean Assault riffles, hand guns, ( some of the Colt hand gun replicas look very cool). Bows and arrows and I mean the big bows not the toy stuff. Crossbows Knives, machetes and other deadly looking weapons. Lots of replica T shirts too but when you get to
examine these there well, a bit shit imo.
Watching the Guard change on their Parliment building was good and all in all its a neat little place. A bit expensive for the basics but that's only to be expected I guess. Stunning views from up top too.

A few pictures from last night, Data getting low now so not too many, By the way be warned San Marino is not cheap. Two glasses of wine cost us 12.0 € and they add on a cover charge to the bill. Still worth the visit and very popular.

Just got clobbered by 1PMobile who are now charging me a £1.0 per day surcharge for breaching their roaming like home conditions. It would appear if you spend more than 120 days in the e.u. the surcharge is applied. I pointed out that I have not exceed 120 days in the e.u.hey then said of the last 4 months you have exceeded the number of days in the e.u. than you have in the UK and so it applies.

Continuing our way Northwards we are now back at Casrel San Petero. The motorhome parking bays are empty but there are 3 mororhomes in the very large car parking area next to the motorhome bays and a hundred meters or so vloser to the town which may explain why they are there. There are no services at present as the whole area fenced off with s JCB doing untold damage to the area in side. A new build for sure but what kind of new build is anyone's guess. Although 35 degrees we are both very comfortable and for the first time in days I have stopped leaking. Also back into T shirt underwear and shorts and feeling quite comfortable. We found a small bar that is still open middle afternoon and only attended by old local boys. That's now changed.

Now just a stones throw from Venice on a neat little Sosta at Pianiga. We've done Venice twice now, once 30 odd years ago and again 10 years ago. Our last visit put us off for future visits as it's so commercialised now and crammed with tourists. This little sosta is smashing 6 euros for 24 hrs, paid into an honesty box and 3 euros for 24 hrs of lecce. Even better its across the road from a bar and restaurant. We're the only ones here and we're going nowhere else today. It's 36 degrees and I've just hung out my shreddies and T shirts to dry after washing, as there soaking in sweat 5 minutes after I put them on. So, did a restock of Moretti this morning and now in the shade watching time slip by. Tomorrow we cross into Slovenia and head for the military museum which is also an Aire. The Aire is 10 euros for 24 hours with all facilities and includes the entrance fee for one adult too. Got my E.Vignette, 15 euros for 7 days. I think they have done away with the window stickers now and at the same time increase prices substantially.

Did I mention there is a fairly large fire going on here, the biggest in its history according to the bar staff who served us in the museum. As we entered the last toll both on the Italian side there was a lot of activity going on in the nearby forest from helicopters, a plane and fires services, all very active. Traffic on the other side was stationery and a few kilometres down the motorway, it was shut down and diversions were in place. We were lucky to get through. Even now some 40 kilometers away there is a big haze hanging over the distant hills and forests and I think its smoke and not your high summer heat haze. Starring to cool down now and we're down to 32 degrees. Apicture from the outside of the museum.

Diesel at 1.70!! Not bad.

Loved that Laško when I was out there, couldn’t get it anywhere else…😎

You’ll maybe glad to hear that bottles of Mythos are now on sale at Lidl over here at 99p!

Although personally I go for the 1 litre cans of Danish Faxe lager at £2.69 (5% ones that is,not the wife beater gear).
