Greece 2022

Just got clobbered by 1PMobile who are now charging me a £1.0 per day surcharge for breaching their roaming like home conditions. It would appear if you spend more than 120 days in the e.u. the surcharge is applied. I pointed out that I have not exceed 120 days in the e.u.hey then said of the last 4 months you have exceeded the number of days in the e.u. than you have in the UK and so it applies.
Tiekom in Spain, 300 gb per month free roaming in the whole of Europe, works fab, there is a thread on this issue on here, I think hundreds of funsters have already signed up.

Yes I have seen this and if I was in Spain I would have purchased one
I did speak to them about getting one but had to be in Spain to get the sim card.

Lap top has gone belly up this morning. Just keeps switching itself off after booting up. Makes no difference if running just on battery or 220. V. Bugger! That will have to wait until I return to the UK for repair.

No you don’t , they send it anywhere, and activate it whenever you want , I had it send to my mum in Belgium so I could pick it up before we started our European tour, but they post to UK too👍

At the caves now. 25 euros for 24hrs motorhome parking and 57 euros for our tickets! Speaking to some who were just leaving said the caves are amazing. The parking is far too expensive for what is offered though.

A great storm last night, lightening, shed loads of rain, fantastic. This morning it was cooler and the air so clean too. A refreshing break from all the heat we have had
We are now in Austria, the stopover we had planned to use was full of cars and impossible to use. I did have a back up plan and just continued through to the border as we were not too far away and at the same time brim up at 1.70. From here on in its going to be much more expensive.
We drove through a pass to get here and it was a stunning drive. On the way through we came across a monument to political prisoners held in a concentration camp 1943 - 1945. I forgot just how beautiful Slovenia was with its magical forests and mountains. Entering Austria was mesmerising snd we were asked for passports at the border and quickly let through.
We are now at a smashing Aire on yhe edge of a small town called Ferlach. More later.

Ferlach is small with a mixture of old and modern buildings. It has a small square and quite a large park with tennis courts and the motorhome Aire between the river, which although small holds at least one large fat trout that I saw on my way into town. Free WiFi too . A fine historic church and a neat square.

Yes missing the place, the people and the beer but not the temperature. We had a cool 21 degrees when we woke at 08.00 this morning now back up to the low 30's. I'm hoping as we move further into Austria and close to the German border we shall see a big drop!

Today we pushed on further into Austria, all of 20 minutes to our next stopover, Klagenfurt and some amazing scenery to be seen in the short drive. The Aire at Klagenfurt is in a car park, close to the centre and only 6 bays at 6 euros for 24 hours. We got in with one other Italisn motorhome and as we left anouther was pulling in. It will be full bt now and others trying to squeeze in I imagine. Klagenfurt is bigger than we thought and we're now exploring the centre. Loads of coffee bars, snack bars, high street shopping and free WiFi in the centre which I need as I'm now rationing my Data usage on my phone until I can buy my next data boost at the end of the month.

Great photos of a part of Austria I’m keen to visit. Ferlach is the historical centre of the gun making industry in Austria - a bit like Brum in the U.K.- and is now famous worldwide for the high quality (and highly priced) sporting rifles produced there. It’s quite something to have a Ferlach apprenticeship on your CV.

They make some great printing machines too ! A place I worked at in the 90's had a 6 colour, textile rotary screen printer made by Johann Zimmer of Klagenfurt, it was one of the most modern available in Europe at the time. Used mostly for our Jaeger, M&S and Laura Ashley customers.

Today we had a big push in the direction of Salzburg along the A10 which has amazing scenery. Pictures on my SLR and will attempt to post some later.
Austria is expensive and jaw dropping beautiful and good planing is needed to keep costs under control. I use a combination of SFS & CamperContact to get the best options. Today we are on a stellplatz at the back of a Restaraunt/Cafe at Jagdhof. It's a bit of a gravel parking area. No services but at the end is a lecce post. 10 euros to park overnight and 5 euros if you want lecce. We did expect to pay these prices before arriving as there are very few if any free overnight parking places for motorhomes. Still we will eat here tonight and push on again tomorrow somewhere south west of Munich.
A few pictures of where we are today.

The Aire is now full and I have had to change my axis to allow anouther motorhome to get in. Mena not happy but alls well that ends well. Much, much cooler today and looks like rain is on the way.
Now in the grill for dinner, this will not be cheap.

Those Lionesses were fantastic last night. What a great team.
Yes and best thing was no trying to cheat by rolling around like your leg had been chopped off when they got tackled or diving like tom Daley!
