Greece 2022

A bit cooler today 33.0 degrees and more bearable. This evening we're eating in Marinos, apparently the restaurant of choice. On the way up I saw this bit of artwork on a house and a picture from our table and the front of the restaurant.

We travelled through Slowakia, Austria, Italy into Greece and only had to show papers at Patras and then when we flew back into Poland. All vey easy. Except for entry into France I doubt whether anyone from UK would have been stopped crossing borders, but it is in the past now.
Had no bother in 2020 doing France Spain France Germany France UK later on in the year..BUSBY.

We left the campsite early this morning and brimmed with diesel which should be our last fill up in Greece. 135.00 euros. An hours driving along the toll road got us in time to park up in front of the train station and get the first rack and pinion train to Kalavrita where we now sit enjoying coffee. The trip up here was as they say in the brocher, one of the most scenic places in all of Greece. Photos on my SLR so maybe later.

Once you've finished your train trip there's some good parking down at the beach - 38.20193 22.19375 - or down by the little port - 38.19758 22.20194
Both on my map. :giggle:

Kalavrita has a bloody history. Om December 13th 1943 the Getman Jager division rounded up the whole town and slaughtered all the men and boys. Over 600 killed and if it was not for one German who had a conscience and released the womenfolk, the figure would have been much higher. Thete is a museum here dedicated to the killing with a lot of information in English. Closed one day each week. Today!

We are now back to Ionio Blue below Patras. Our last stop before getting the ferry over to Bari. We do like this place and were here several weeks ago. I thought it would be rammed and surprisingly it's not. Only about 15 motorhomes here at present although the beach is a lot more active and the beach bar next door also in full swing now and anouther one further down from us. Still hot but now I have access to the sea and beach showers so can keep cooling off during the day. We will stay here until the 10th then catch the ferry.

How do you get on for waste dumping there?

All the services here are free including black waste disposal. All you are asked to pay for is lecce, if you choose to use it. I'm not certain what the rate is as we do not use it.
Taken a few minutes ago. I hope you appreciate this as it meant me leaving the bar to take these pictures.

You really are too good to us Phil.... :rofl:of course we appreciate photos of beachfront tavernas under blue skies, now get back to your Mythos and lunch.....

The bikers left this morning. They came over and shook my hand and thanked me for charging up their phone chargers. Some of yhe gear they had was quite impressive, tents chairs, cooking equipment all contained in a small box.
We now have cooler weather and a small shower. Relief at last.

Was that before you posted on the internet photos of them in their underpants ?

Enjoyed your thread and photos btw 👍
It's not been below 30 degrees for a few weeks now. The order of the day is minimal clothing. The men just wear bottoms and the girls are all in swimsuits apart from bar staff. For the last month I have worn nothing but a pair of swimming trunks or my pj bottoms which look like knee length shorts but paper thin, unless going out to a restaraunt then a bit more casual and formal. These guys paraded around in there scuddies for two days and were no trouble at all. They did see off a fair bit of beer in the bar though.

So how much weight have you lost on this trip Phil?
What a fantastic question! Before we set out I was walking 6 days a week and exercising every morning. Mena and I would have a date night twice a week and we would drink alcohol on both those occasions and perhaps the odd glass of wine during the week. Since the 1st of May the only part of that discipline that has remained in place is the morning exercise. The daily walks have discontinued and the alcohol content has increased significantly and mostly beer related.
My belt still fastens on the same notch, much to my surprise and my shorts do not feel restricted when I put them on. I will for certain have put on more weight as that is how my little telly tubby metabolism functions and when we get home I will return to my normal routines and some of the excess weight will fall off. I've not weighed myself but I think I'm in the region of 4 stone.
