Same thing, different name?No. Tsipouro
A beautiful, peaceful place. I remember a couple of tombstones showing the names of 14 year old cabin boys whose ships were sunk. Depressing. Now at the ferry port for tonights ferry back to Greece. On the way here we visited Souda Bay allied war cemetary. As expected it is kept in immaculate condition.

No idea !Are they still fixing the rockfall? Looks like a crane barge I can see in the distance.
Thanks Pete. It's 37 degrees today and forecast for the same tomorrow! We're holed up on a tidy little campsite recommended by Busman Dave. Today we're suffering in the shade and tomorrow we will visit the ruins at ancient Korinithos where the campsite is based. After a few days I hope to do the rack and pinion train journey then head back to Ionia Blue camping then onto the ferry at Patras.I can recommend a couple of stopovers to the north west at Lake Vouliagmenis and Cape Melangavi if you're looking for somewhere nearby to stay.
Both are on my map.
Pete
The rack and pinion railway is a brilliant trip. You probably already know this, but I would check the train times to make sure they fit in with your travel plan. Last time I was passing, I was on the way to catch a ferry, but when we got to the train station at Diakofto we realised there was no way we could do the train and still catch the ferry. Gutted! Thanks Pete. It's 37 degrees today and forecast for the same tomorrow! We're holed up on a tidy little campsite recommended by Busman Dave. Ones no better than the other I think. We're very restricted with this heat at the moment.37'. It's barely 17' here for the past few days....
Have you managed to see one of the submersible bridges in action? Interesting bit of engineering.Corinth Canal this morning. Loads of tourists here and you can now do a Bungie jump if your inclined.

Nope! Didn't know they existed until I read your post!Have you managed to see one of the submersible bridges in action? Interesting bit of engineering.
0/10 for research then.Nope! Didn't know they existed until I read your post!
When we were there you could park outside the station we spent the night there. After a few days I hope to do the rack and pinion train journey
I'm hoping to get there early in the morning and park in the same spot too. My plans are a bit fluid at the moment as the heat is affecting everything. Once we acclimatise we will be fine. Just a different humidity to that we had in Crete. When we were there you could park outside the station we spent the night there.
No need for me to research this as I have a man who does it for me.0/10 for research then.

Ouch! We used to get really good discounts.Once again we find the English seniors have to pay double that of E.U. seniors upon entry but they took us at face value when I told them we had European passports and we were charged the same as others.
We have had to seek shade. Were going through water like the beer in a one euro bar lol.Loving your thread Phil.
Carry on taking one for the team with that heat! We’re in woolly jumpers here …..
