Greece 2022

Not really
Is it me, or did you massively over-order? 😆
, there were 4 of us and we had 3 starters and a main meal. The starters were a bit on the large side and we could have reduced that by a half. The other bits were freebies we never ordered but were placed on the table.

Camping Grammeno pictures. For us its 20 Euros a night plus electricity at 0.38 per KW/h. The campsite has several dedicated motorhome bays, lots of those little huts and a few decent sized bungalow type accommodation. The bulk of the camping is tents and they are sited anywhere they can be errected. The campsite is starting to fill up now and in July/August it will br rammed. There is also a great beach bar showers, toilets storage rooms with chillers for campers food, a cooking room, kids play area, mimi-market, BBQ area and an air conditioned community room and it's all attached to the beach

My mouth is watering seeing all the pictures. How I miss Cretan food. In Scotland at the moment. 😐

Lol! It does look rather fat doesn't it! Probably due to the spare hearing aid batteries I carry and a few Euro coins in a zipped pocket. Although, I will admit I'm spending far more on this trip than any other motothome adventure we have been on. Out again tonight too. More wine and fabulous Crete food. They do eat very well and half the price of other European countries. 36 degrees this morning when I stepped out. Quick ablution, morning exercise routine and straight into the Lybian sea to cool down. Awesome.
We loved the food when we had a holiday in Santorini and never had one bad meal unlike our recent trip down to Croatia and back☹️☹️

It’s definitely giving me an appetite to go back to Greece, was our go to place for our two week hols, not sure 9.5mtr m home will get to many places but I’m definitely starting to look at possibilities.

One for you budding Motorhome Fun entomologists.

It's the shell of a cicada which they shed. After shedding, once their new shells harden, they buzz off to look for a mate ................. and that's when all the noise starts!

I hope that I'm not being impertinent, but how much does it cost to take your motorhome from Greece to Crete?

Very much depends on the length of your motorhome and the date of your travel and whether you want a cabin or not. To sail to Crete from the Greek mainland you will invariably depart from Piraeus port. You can sail to Heraklion or Chania in Crete. We always travel with Anek. Put your dates and length into their website and you will have a good idea.

You can also sail with Minoan and, I think, Blue Star.

Not had a look at my tickets but I'm guessing around 260 euros ish.
I'm in the beach bar at the moment, if I remember this post tomorrow I will provide further information.

We booked by Viamare in London. They were fantastic and gave us a great service.
The motorhome was €240.0 (3.0 x 7.5 m)and for our room we paid €55.0 each. This was each way. We sailed with Blue Star and the service was exceptional. When we presented our tickets at reception, after boarding we were walked to our room by a member of staff. We had a 4 berth cabin all to ourselves and it was spotless with all amenities working. Very satisfied customers.

Viamare are great!(y) I booked ferry tickets for our trip to Crete in September, however hospital are not allowing husband to travel due to his condition so I had to cancel. Full reimbursement within 1 week apart from a small administration fee.

Is there also the ‘camp on deck’ option on the Abel Line ferry from Piraeus to Heraklion? Looking at the website booking it appears to show it (and it’s coming back as mega cheap) but it’s a bit confusing.

As far as I know, because there is no open deck, you cannot camp on deck with Anek (last time we travelled with them was 2 years ago so maybe they have another ship with an open deck). Be aware that Minoan advertise 'camping on board' but you have to stay in a cabin.
