France Off The Menu.

Yes as you are an Irish national and a British citizen
Just to be clear, I'm not planning to at the moment (as I think overseas travel for leisure purposes is selfish and irresponsible at the moment) and I got my Irish passport over 15 yrs ago!

Each to their own, that's what makes this world and the people who inhabit it so interesting and diverse 😁

A tad expensive. One could fly, pay for top class accommodation and have change for food and drink at that price.

but, but, but...

You would miss out on the joy of regular (if you are regular) cassette emptying...

JJ

You seem to be under the illusion that this will be over. It won’t, ever. We need to start realising that we have to live with it. That means that there will always be people testing positive, becoming ill, being hospitalised and yes, even dying of it. The vaccine will reduce the numbers to manageable numbers but it’s here to stay.
so they need to decide whether they are British or Indians?

Presumably that means that all those who obtained an EU passeport after b****t to avoid the 90 days rule (including several well known examples) can still holiday in France?
I'm guessing, if like me you own a E.U. passport and are a UK citizen you may well be able to enter France. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure how French border staff will treat UK citizens who have a legitimist E.U. Passport. I don't think it matters when or why one was obtained as long as it was through the correct procedure.

I am paying half that but only a 5.2 metre van...BUSBY.
You have done exceptionally well. I tried again with your Van dimensions and for two seniors and got this for one way, before adding any accommodation and with no cancellation protection. £436.00

Just as an aside, as there is a lot of 'what if' and how will I be treated type posts with respect to how we will be regarded by officials etc., etc., once we get back to some sort of European travelling. I wrote to the E.U. and asked them how to obtain there new E.U. wide Covid Passport as my old lady and I held E.U. Passports and were UK citizens resident in the UK. I think the term UK citizen may have hit a raw nerve as I received a reply informing me it was only available to members of the current 27 E.U. countries. I read into that reply as Euro speak to 'do one' LOL.

& there would be plenty of time after this is over to go visiting.
You still seem to think this will one day be over. It won’t. Either live with it or stay home alone forever.

Well done you. Current prices are somewhat prohibitive IMO.

I only have a red E.U. passport which is only two years old but it does state inside that I'm a British Citizen so I guess it doesn't any longer qualify as an 'E.U.' passport.

Just looked at the updated Travel advice again and it says PCR tests or Antigen test accepted for entry into France. This will help to bring costs down a bit. Boots are offering an instore service with results given within 1 hour for £60.00 they also offer to give you the test kit for free but its that paper or electronic document that you will need to travel.

Am guessing have to resident and have been vaccinated in an EU country . We have our vaccinations on our AntiCovid app which wouldn’t work outside the country if you are not registered for healthcare here

I believe the UK is in advanced talks with all other countries about acceptance of the NHS digital App that contains the Covid Passport and its likely to be accepted.

PhilandMena Have you looked at air fares lately ? Mental prices, my niece, partner, plus two children flew to Faro yesterday. Cost for flights alone £2400 !!! We flew there for a fiver last October.

I assume you men travel outside one's own country, not necessarily across the sea.

We live in Poland and are planning to travel to Greece and back. The two countries have had similar histories of exposure to COVID, both less than UK.

It is unlikely that our movements will transmit more infection in either country more than if we stayed put, obeying the rules in both countries of course.

Therefore I do not see that such travel is 'selfish and irresponsible'

I think that some travel within UK might come into that category if into/out some COVID 'Hotspots', but then the 'Overseas' description becomes irrelevant.

There are two NHS Apps. The Track and Trace app and the NHS Digital App. The NHS Digital App requires photo identification acceptance and then linking to your G.P's medical records. This is the App that will show the QR code which is your Covid Passport. We had to jump through a few of hoops and had lots of trouble with the app itself before finally completing the process. Hopefully a lot easier now. Al we need now is confirmation of acceptance by the E.U. and other international destinations.

Yes that's the one i have, the nhs digital app, my 2d barcode expires 20th june, whatever that means

How much does it cost to be a member of Club Voyage ?
I think it's a one off payment of 150 pounds and then 120 a year..Usually my membership pays for itself with me allowing others to use my number...Very seldom quick enough on Funsters though😁😁. BUSBY.

If that's true, no offence intended, they should be named, shamed, and prosecuted.
And the people who lte them in in London and the Government for failing to close the borders. You have got to be pretty useless for Nicola Sturgeon to perform better than you!

I posted the latest official information for anyone with travel plans thinking it was useful but it attracted the usual remarks .

The abuse the french get on here if it was targeted at Israel it would be anti Semitic or at a Muslim country would also be classed likewise .
But France appears to be fair game and passes off as just a joke . But remember we do have a french member of this group and you are insulting her country and please note she does not reciprocate.
Most of us love the Europeans and the French and travelling to Europe! The problem has been with the EU and French politicians and of course some channel fishermen who are being unreasonable over Brexit and the need for them to prove their historical fishing practices and locations!
