Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

Good luck with the clutch, had to have my slave done twice in 10 years and on my VW base it's gearbox off :crying::crying:

OK so I'm at iveco now. They want €273 for a £90 part lol

That's not fitted that's just supplied .

So does anyone know the name of any French parts places as I'd prefer not to be ripped off

Chris Meca Tech in Soumeras probably a bit out of your way. Great garage though. SW France near Bordeaux.

Yes, how many ways can you mix tomatoes and pasta, loads of different shapes but the same taste.
The different pasta shapes serve a purpose, they are actually just a vehicle for the sauce.
The are so many different types of pasta depending on the flour mix, different percentages of Semolina to Tipo 00 and different grades of Semolina flour, all to be considered on what dish they are served with.
Freshly made pasta is in a different world to dried pasta, cooks in 1 to 2 mins against 10 to 15 mins for the dried pasta.

Well I've got it a little cheaper from another parts place , collect it tomorrow €198 no choice but to buy it because if it fails completely I could be stuck . Hopefully easy to access and change .

. So maybe a dry switch or something.
I recall Paul Badknee having to dismantle & clean the steering wheel assembly twice on his last van
I always aim for here Tam especially in the winter months, France has so much to give, well signposted and mountains in view with lovely blue skies, a little place called Espana

If that is the Col du Som port ,the first time I went over in july 2014 the fog was so thick I had no idea anything in the way of buildings existed there except for ,at the time, the redundant French border post.
I'm at decathlon south le man now , I was coming here anyway.

The van drives great. No problem selecting gears etc and no slipping or anything YET

I had a volvo with a dodgy slave cylinder that did the same thing as this is doing , drives fine but pedal doesn't return to top so you've to help it back up with your toe . That volvo ran for a few years with that problem. So I'm wondering if I'd have the same luck with this which would allow me to get a garage in Spain to replace the cylinder rather than be at the mercy of the French.

But it's hard to tell .

I've also got a feckin dodgy light/indicator stalk that seems to only affect sidelights. Fortunately at present if I turn the switch on and off a few times I can get it to work.

I'm off for a look in decathlon as I need some boots .

Can't say I'm overly surprised by the cylinder going. The pedal was feeling a little stiff last week and developed a squeak when pressed. I sprayed the pedal mechanism with silicone spray at uncle lennys and it had been fine since . But a few times yesterday it felt like pedal stuck. But today it'd doing it all the time . If engine switched off and you pump it up and down a few times it returns no problem . With engine running though it sticks a bit more.

It has this wee sealed hydraulic unit behind the pedal on the View attachment 975075firewall
you want to know what is the pipe connection on the other side of the firewall under the bonnet, & is it easily accessible? AS when I did mine last weekend it is a pipe held in with a 'U' shaped clip that you can't afford to lose. If it is that type then the rubber sealing cone normally doesn't come away with the pipe but stays inside the old master cylinder.
Mine I needed to change as the metal pin on the clutch pedal wears through the plastic master cylinder.
( new Ford ones have a metal sleeve apparently)
I couldn't/can't bleed mine properly as the spare cylinder that I bought to replace it has dried out asI bought it 3 years ago .Took it to garage last night & they are going to replace it yet again on Tuesday.
That was weird...I got locked out my own thread there for a bit .. couldn't access anything. I sent a message off to @Jim
I had that on my phone whilst out earlier on?
Hopefully easy to access and change .
I wouldn't touch it until you can plan somewhere to do it. Bleeding them isn't the best in the world either.

Speaking of all this mechanical stuff, I've stuck this yoke in one of my sheds for a boy wanted somewhere indoors for it to work on over the winter months, old school or what lol

This one comes pre bled it's a 2 part kit with hose attached it has a ball joint fixing on the pedal and 4 bolts hold it on gearbox end. It's the same as the one in the video JockandRita posted above . No need to bleed it. That's why it needs replaced as it's obviously leaking somewhere.

The clutch itself is fine . And it's doing exactly the same thing as the ones in the videos that Jock posted and the same as the old volvo I had with a knackered slave cylinder . Another common fault on these apparently so I'm fairly certain that's the problem with it. .. the pedal was quite stiff the other day and squeaking now the pedal is really soft .

It's got steadily worse all day so I'm not sure it will last much longer. I don't want to get stuck somewhere and need recovered as that would be a ball ache with this van.

It doesn't look too hard to change, hardest part is getting access to it as always.

Chinese couple in a small Toyota based coachbuilt motorhome behind me in ferry queue ...first thing he says as he prised himself out the cab "wow too big " ...you are from Scotland? We spend one month in Scotland.

They've driven it a the way from China

I've got soup tins bigger 😁🤣🤣🤣
There were 2 Chinese motorhomes parked up in Holyrood park a couple of years ago . Fair old drive
