Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

Good. (y)

I've just had a look at the supplier tacr2man Max linked to for that part. I can't believe the price they are charging, when the same LuK kit in the UK is £90 to £135. :Eeek:

Cheers,

Jock. :)
I know it's mental .

Luk part £90 and its on offer on ebay at present with £10 off so £80 it would have cost had it broke before I left .

I went to iveco first she wanted €273 and had it in stock , I noticed that autopart place was on the Same road so I thought I'd try them first.
He quoted €209 at first but then said he could do it for €198 which is about £164 , no guarantee I could find it any cheaper so I've just ordered and paid for that.

If it fixes the problem I'll be happy and relieved I don't need a new clutch .

It's still rough considering the fecking Luk part is made in France but hey ho I can cry about it or just fix it.

It’s the difference between enjoying your winter trip, or breaking down and having lots of stress. So the price of the part and the fact you need it makes sense to bet it like you did. 👍
Yes it’s a lot of money but you can always live on bread and CHEESE. 😂👍

Just being the biggest does not necessarily guarantee the best, and in this case it certainly is not.
Italian wines in my humble opinion are amazing, unfortunately they don't export enough, there are many small vineyards that we have spent many an hour tasting some fabulous wines that could hold their own anywhere in the world.

Difficult subject . What is best to one is not to another.
I love good wine wherever it's from .
If I had to choose it would be a Bordeaux but that is a huge range of wine in itself .
Had a local wine in Portugal recently €3 . Perfectly pleasant . Would I go and buy it again ? Probably not .

Aye, but at least you won't be stung for French labour rates. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
Yeah I think if you hadn't posted that video for the slave cylinder I'd have been in a garage getting them to check it so that was a result.
That said I think I'd have made a beeline for Spain. Too many horror stories with French garages lately

It's only because I researched the subject myself a few months ago that I knew it was a sealed system, and how relatively easy it is to change it over, however, I'm always happy to help out a fellow Funster (y) ............especially a fellow N+B owner............and fellow Scot. ;)

Cheers,

248,56€ when I looked Jock?

That is a brilliant system compared to the s++*e of the internal slave cylinder or the master cylinder made of cheese attached to the pedal bracket itself.

Yeah this is on the rear of the pedal ..
Expensive ....but a lot cheaper than needing a gearbox removed to replace an internal one that's for sure.

And often when internal they leak on to the clutch and that ends up needing replaced too.

So fingers crossed this is the issue and it will be sorted once replaced.

Sodding typical though I had exactly one day of hassle free smooth motoring lol.

This is why I'm always pessimistic with motors as it really is the story of my life...there is ALWAYS something.

Hopefully the stalk the lights are on keeps working too as they are also well over £100 to replace.

But I'll probably find a scrapyard and pick up a second hand one of those just in case

Clutch Slave Cylinder replacement part I understand, but what is "The Sender Unit" or is that part of The Master Cylinder Unit?
Why does it need a sender unit, whats if for? Is it connected to a Canbus somewhere to illuminate something on the dash if the clutch overheats?
Answers on a postcard, comes to mind.

The master cylinder is the sender unit . Attached to pedal sends fluid to slave cylinder to operate clutch lever.

Cables were much simpler lol.

No point in buying and selling cars if you're gonna lose money on them .

It was for sale for £1300 , I paid £900 and I sold it for £1500 .

BUT if anybody else wants some profit , you call them greedy or ripoff merchants 🤕

Some double standards here kid 😊

Hope you get the clutch fixed without incident

There's making a profit and there's taking the piss.

I made the profit on the car by buying it cheap not selling it dear. That's the difference. The price I sold it for was still a lot cheaper than similar models with the Miles and condition available . Hence it selling no problem.

The part I've just bought is a good example of taking the piss

Luk part available in the UK for £90 and that seller is still making a profit.

So iveco dealer selling it for £200 is taking the piss.
Even the place I'm buying it from is taking the piss at £165

There's profit, and there's profiteering.

The guy who bought my second hand volvo had a choice ...

I need the part so I don't have a choice.

Now that is beautiful. I'd have that .
Yes, me too. Full of envy. I’d like to keep it somewhere safe and polish it every day. Sad, I know.

Tam, what was squeaking when we were out in your van…? And I said spray some silicone on it, was it the same pedal…🤔
Wasn't that on moby? I know that was squeaking and I gave it a spray the day I sold it.

The clutch pedal on this one only developed a squeak when i was at Lenny's and I sprayed it with silicone there .. 2 days later and the master cylinder has gone. I noticed on that video the one he did was squeaking too so its maybe an early indication

That was tams wallet , just the thought of spending money makes it squeak 🥺

PEOPLE please don’t tar us Scot’s wi the same brush

He is a real one of a kind 😉
Nah I'm not I'm just one of the millions in the UK who doesn't have the Same level of disposal income as those who think I'm tight. 🤷‍♂️
