Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

Tam, I bet you still have a kilo+ of that Tajine spice mix you bought last time in Morocco:giggle:
Tajines are lovely, but eating them too often would remind me of being brought up on Mince & Tatties 4 times a week.:( plus hold the couscous hate the stuff and Bulger Wheat.

All white for the van will look great, as for flaking or chipping, I remember my Ford Cosworth's had a special flexible primer & white top coat to stop it cracking, maybe worth checking this out, it may be a special paint with the Fiat Colour Code.

Minxy are ye passing Basingstoke 😁
At the rate I'm going we won't even get to France! I've just had to change my ferry as Sunday 8th morning one has been cancelled so now going on 15th instead, only blessing is it's an 8.00 am crossing instead of 7.00 am so I get an extra hour's kip! Basingstoke is way too far west I'm afraid.

All white for me Tam & the mirrors as well.

They must be in their second childhood with all those dolls in the windscreen!
There is a couple of Belgians that frequent Bergues aire. One with a Dethleff has religious icons right across the dash like that. Along with various jesus , Mary & baby, last supper stickers on the sides & back .His running mate just has an abundance of religious stickers all over the van

Not sure what blue you mean Vic....the only blue is the side graphics , the bumpers and side skirts are all grey at present ..albeit a slightly different shade between bumper and side skirts as the bumper is plastic but skirt is aluminium.
If I get it all done white including the full front grp section and the drivers door in the fiat bianco 210 the same as the sides and rear it should All be matching.

The grey stripe that currently runs along the sides above the skirts is OK on the rhs but is badly sun damaged on the lhs and I was planning to have those replaced anyway. I'd like to just remove them but I think they would leave a mark , so maybe I'd have them replaced in blue vinyl instead .. not sure yet.
One thing to consider Tam, the shades of white of the MH will likely be different on each side due to the effect of the weather so if you do go for white bumpers & skirts you could still end up with it 'clashing' with the existing bodywork ... personally I'd got for a contrast, maybe something not quite as dark?

I don't have much tajine spice left but I do have 4 different flavours of it . Broke my tajine in Turkey last year though so I need a new one.

The bumpers on this are solid grp so it shouldn't need plastic primer as it will be bonded to the previous paint .

I will need to do the fridge vents and cassette door with plastic primer prior to painting but I have a couple of cans of that with me

The main body on this hasn't faded thankfully only the grp door and the front nose has yellowed the rest polished up nice

How about someone posting it to someone who's going ? Cheaper than diesel and Tam can cover costs?

It's OK about the tablet holder , have discovered it won't work in my van as it fits in a cup holder and its for an I pad

Why the week delay?
When we had a 10am one cancelled they put us on the 11pm same day & I blagged a cabin for 15 quid.

How is Doc doing on the hills now and even more important on the decline the other side of the hill.
Doing OK on most hills ...the odd one catches me out but big difference from before.

Brakes have been OK, still wouldn't throw you out the seat but haven't had anymore fading as yet . I'll have all the wheels off it again in Morocco anyway so will give everything a check over again then

The bumper colour is anthracite ( but the shade can be altered dependent on the year)that’s the colour code.

I know it's a bit late, but all white gets a vote from me. It'll bring the van up to date. Great photos of the dogs in the dog park.

The Spanish markets always have an excellent selection of slippers. Covering every age and family member. You could buy a selection for every occasion and then display them on your dashboard to equal the Dutch van with the cuddly toys ::bigsmile:. You could even buy Uncle Lenny a blue, no grey, no blue, but grey pair!

Right folks I've been thinking

So as you know I plan to have a bit of paintwork done in Morocco. I want the underside cleaned up and painted but I also need the drivers door sprayed as it's discoloured and the front bumper and wheel arches are faded ,scuffed and frankly a mess.

But I keep looking at models that are fully colour coded and don't have the grey section along the bottom and I can't help thinking would Doc look better if I had it colour coded and the front grp section also sprayed so the whole van was white with just the grey and blue graphics , mirrors too.

The newer Flair is all white like JockandRita

This Concorde is all white and looks good View attachment 986640

What dya think?

I don't want to get the bits painted I'm Morocco then wish I had just gone the whole hog and got it colour coded.
All white will look very smart I think.

Well that's just spoiled it as I've just bumped the fecking van 😭😭😭 .

This is why sometimes it's better having an old wreck

Caught the rear side above the bedroom window or a tree branch and it's creased the aluminium ☹️☹️

Fed up noo .

Stupid boy.
A bit of filling and spraying in Marocco will sort it.

It hurts when it happens to an old van....

Ripped the ally locker on Moby a couple of years ago - cut over 2' long

Used a slide hammer to pull out the worst then filled and rattle can - only I
know it happened......

Bit of a sickener when it happens but you'll fix it (y)
