Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

Don't be daft! It suits you down to the ground, just get it filled and stick a decal over it - you wanted to change some of the lower ones on the MH anyway so that way you can have them all matching ... blue/grey depending on what the actual colour of the existing ones are! :giggle:

Look on the bright side, at least it wasn't bricked like ours was in Holland ...

How did that happen?

Right folks I've been thinking

So as you know I plan to have a bit of paintwork done in Morocco. I want the underside cleaned up and painted but I also need the drivers door sprayed as it's discoloured and the front bumper and wheel arches are faded ,scuffed and frankly a mess.

But I keep looking at models that are fully colour coded and don't have the grey section along the bottom and I can't help thinking would Doc look better if I had it colour coded and the front grp section also sprayed so the whole van was white with just the grey and blue graphics , mirrors too.

The newer Flair is all white like JockandRita

What dya think?

I don't want to get the bits painted I'm Morocco then wish I had just gone the whole hog and got it colour coded.
All white, but even better all anthracite grey 😇

It's always a pain in the arse when you prang your pride & joy Tam,
I've done it with loads of expensive stuff over the years including a Lambo worth 200k rolled it over 2 fields, there wasn't a straight panel left anywhere on it! 🤣
But everything can be fixed by the right boys and them boys out in Maroc will sort the big girl out for you no bother, I've seen some of the heaps of shite out there that they've repaired and your big bus will be no bother to them and you know you'll always get a deal with them so don't let it upset you too much mate 👍

Wow, I would not have expected that in Holland to be honest. I have worked with many Dutch people and they always seemed very nice, friendly and educated.

I'm sure it did. Do you now feel safe going there Minxy?
Yup, first trip after the 'incident' was a bit twitchy but no issues now, it's a lovely place to be honest and having 'done' MHing for many years now we're much more aware of what to watch out for and where to park, one thing's for sure though, we won't ever go back to that 'aire'.

The Americans have their Cola trucks & a happy holiday....
We have our own 'cola' trucks and a happy Christmas 😉

Jeez, that’s terrible. What a sickener that must have been. Was it deliberate vandalism?

Oops. Just seen the other posts re this.

I'm not sure anywhere could repair that dent and blow in the area without it being noticeable on 20 year old paint . I guess I'm either going to have to live with it ....or sell the van
Could you not try one of the paintless dent removal firms. We have a local guy & I've seen him remove some tricky dents from a few of our cars over the years.

He warms the panel & sticks little pulling points along the dent & slowly pulls them out.

Can't do it on bonded aluminium panels it will delaminate them which is really bad news.
Also unlike steel aluminium streaches.

As I said earlier I'm just gonna have to live with it. I'm gutted as I like things to be right and this van is in exceptionally good condition for 20 years old. I'm annoyed at myself for doing it. It's easier to live with damage someone else did than stuff you've done yourself from a moments lack of concentration or judgement. It could have been worse I guess.

What I ain't doing is having an 8.4 metre by 3 metre panel resprayed to sort out an 8 inch slight dent.
I know it's there so I'll always see it , folk looking for it will now see it but most folk will probably not notice it.

But I'm still annoyed about it.

I ain't having the whole van resprayed either lol.

Originally I had only planned to have the front bumper and front wheel arches resprayed the original grey colour and the drivers door resprayed to match the aluminum sides as currently it has yellowed slightly because its grp like the front nose cone. It's quite common for the grp to be a different colour from the aluminum on older vans.

But now after giving it some thought I will look in to having the door and the front nose cone resprayed in fiat 210 which is the colour of the aluminum sides ....and instead of just the front bumper and arches being redone in grey I'll have both bumpers , the wheel arches and the full side skirts also done in fiat 210 so that it hopefully all matches. The grey vinyl stripe that goes along the bottom I will have replaced later. The alternative is to heat it and remove it and if it leaves a mark I could have it painted instead in either anthracite or blue to match the other graphics.

I'd like the mirror bodies painted white too but would depend if those can be done correctly as I've seen too many that end up all flaking.

I obviously have no intention of selling the van just because I've given it a slight bump.

But I'm still fecking pissed off about doing it.

I caught our euramobil on the rear on a gatepost slight skid/scratch marks, got a quote of £1200 to repair.
I instead went to my signwriting company classic signs in the North East and they made a matching vinyl that covered the damage and the non damaged side, it actually made it look better than original.
Total cost £90.

Something like these might work for a quick cheap fix Tam, and if you want I'll order them up & bring them out to you
