Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

Not sure what blue you mean Vic....the only blue is the side graphics , the bumpers and side skirts are all grey at present ..albeit a slightly different shade between bumper and side skirts as the bumper is plastic but skirt is aluminium.
If I get it all done white including the full front grp section and the drivers door in the fiat bianco 210 the same as the sides and rear it should All be matching.

The grey stripe that currently runs along the sides above the skirts is OK on the rhs but is badly sun damaged on the lhs and I was planning to have those replaced anyway. I'd like to just remove them but I think they would leave a mark , so maybe I'd have them replaced in blue vinyl instead .. not sure yet.
Must be my phone, the grey looks blue.

Just checked out the pic of Doc on post 76 and I still think it looks better with bumpers and skirts contrasting - but in silver not dark grey.

It's old design now though , all the newer vans especially the top brands have gone colour coded. I was originally just going to have front bumper and arches redone in the grey as the rest is in great condition but the more I look at others it does age the van .

Jock

I did not know that you had bought Martin's funflair Flair.

We were interested in it and met up in France to view it. It was very good example but for me his choice of selecting the lower level bed over the garage, restricting the garage height, put me off and I could not see an easy way of re-jigging the bed because of the wardrobes.

I am glad it found a good home with a MHFun Member.

We have since met up with Martin and Jen at the Morelo Open.

Geoff
Yes, Geoff, back in December 2019. Within an hour of the old Hymer E690 being driven off by the new owners, the Flair was out of storage and on the driveway. ;)

Re the internal garage height, I can stand up in the garage albeit with a bit of a stoop, and if the single beds were any higher, we'd be banging our heads off the overhead lockers. :whatthe:
Unless we A... win the lottery, or B... I lose my C1 licence, this is our last MH. ;)

Must be my phone, the grey looks blue.
It doesn't matter Vic what device I'm using, the grey always looks blue to me too.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

On a practical level, if you paint the grey bumpers white will they chip easily? One sometimes sees that sort of thing. Especially given some of the parking areas you use?

I tend to always feel a vehicle should be left looking as it was originally intended. But it is such a personal choice.

I can't see your garage being a different height from mine it's just the bed layout that's different. And your lounge us shorter to compensate for beds being the other way.

The bumpers always looked a bluey grey to me too but they're definitely grey .

Where's Basingstoke? Is it near Nottingham? I've nothing booked yet but I'm more than likely to be going down through Blighty to the channel tunnel and I always overnight half way down around Nottingham area... probably 1st week of January and could call for it....
It’s approximately 140 mile due south of Nottingham.

I don't see why they would as they are painted at present. Bumpers are grp and the side panels are aluminium. If they're sanded and prepped properly the paint should be as tough as it is now . And they'll be prepping it properly lol as I won't be letting them put paint near it till I'm happy with it.

The thing with this van is its exact he Same body as JockandRita, the colour scheme changed in 2005 which is the following year from mine ...Same time as the new 3.0l engine.

Keeping it original wouldn't add any value to this van but bringing it more up to date might should I ever sell it.

I just want it to look the best it can and I think having the door and front grp section painted aswell as the lower 12/18 inches will make it mint condition.

I didn’t realise they were painted already. Yes can’t see why that will be an issue then.

It’s all personal choice I think, but sounds like you are leaning towards white. It will probably look more modern like that.

Exactly. 🤷‍♂️

Just looked at Google maps there it nearly doubles the travel time to go to channel tunnel via Basingstoke instead of just down M1 and over the Dartford bridge to Kent,
You'll have to get it sent somewhere Tam or if it can get taken closer to my route I'll happily pick it up

You will be looking to sell in the future, your circumstances will change for whatever reason. (No wise cracks please).
A modern looking vehicle will make it more attractive to a potential buyer.
It needs painting in these areas so paint it to look it's best. Good luck with that!

Hi Tam

The bed height in JockandRita 's van is standard and I have only seen one lower and that was a bodge job that actually came lower than the garage opening, yours will be the same (y) yes you have the huge lounge option;)

my frankia had an electric adjustable bed over the garage so you could lower it down to the height of the sofas , a handy idea once you'd taken the scooter out but it rattled around when you were in bed.

Probably available as an optional extra on these too but I'm glad it doesn't have it.

Sofas a great length for me in this as it's a good 6.5 ft long

Aye I think it's wrong side of country for you capn if you're going to Dover. No matter

Just been to the doggy Park again , what a difference these make for dogs , about 20 dogs there today while we were there all different breeds and sizes all off lead running around interacting and playing with each other and not a single fight or bit of aggression from them and no owners complaining about other dogs , everyone petting and playing with other dogs. I really wish there were more of these , digs are all knackered after an hour running round there . Ela really enjoys it , and of course blu is in her element.

KASPAR Northernraider I will be passing Basingstoke either side of Christmas but not getting the ferry until mid Jan.
Probably a bit late as won't be in south of Spain until end Jan by which time tam will e long gone I expect.
CaptainPaul M6 south M5 to Gloucester - Swindon - Newbury - Basingstoke - M3 - M25 very scenic route. You can never do enough for a mate.

Market is on today and right outside the van so I'm off for a mooch around at a load of crap I don't need 😁
I was there in April with my friend Shirley Blossom . Love a market but we missed that one. Jealous!🤣
