Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

Decided to have a walk up to the chateau after all as we were nearly there when walking dogs .. I forgot it doesn't get dark as early here either .. we've been and back and it's still light .

Saumur - always our first overnight in France. Lovely town with good market on Sat. morning. Was feeling a bit nostalgic looking at the pictures of the bridge we walk over to get to the town. Roll on next May.

As your travelling down we like Saint Antonin Noble Val , has a free Aire and some old buildings in town

I had nice French roads yesterday but have to say the ones today weren't so good , no potholes but very patchy and noisy surface...

In terms of the ‘congestion’ caused by such stoppages, and hence it being detectable by Google et al, it rather depends on how many vehicles are approaching the blockage.


In my experience, that would be the exception rather than the rule.

Really? Come across many Route Barre signs but always have a deviation. Only thing I find they don't do is update you at every junction.

Tam, looking at the map on your polar steps thing , there looks to be dozens of roads you could have turned on to , why did you go all round the road that you did.?
 
i had that last year over a street market took a few turns then ended up back where i started it was not busy so i moved the barriers and drove through

On the other side of the river Charlie supposed to come over a bridge but the bridge was only 2 meters wide . Nowhere after that to pull in to see where the feck I was as I was in narrow lanes with nowhere to stop.

Not so easy when no passenger tk check where you are

Big concrete barriers. Don't think that section of road has been open in a while. The bridge I finally came over was only 200 yards beyond the barrier but because it had a 3.5t sign on it the truck nav wouldn't bring me over it. After the long detour I ignored the satnav and drove over the bridge anyway . There's an aire just by it so obviously loads of motorhomes come over that way anyway

Also hit a route barre, but with a deviation sign which took 3 motorways through roads in the countryside to a 2.5M height barrier in the middle of nowhere, did have a turning point but noit big enough for the 3 of us.
