Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

Luk part available in the UK for £90 and that seller is still making a profit.

So iveco dealer selling it for £200 is taking the piss.
Even the place I'm buying it from is taking the piss at £165

There's profit, and there's profiteering.
A bit unfair you haven't taken into account the horendous cost of employing people in France. If they sold it at the price you want to pay they would be selling at a loss, not good business practice.

Ok I'm going to get roasted for this but all this talk of cheese and slave cylinders is getting boring.

What I'm looking forward to are much more photos of you and the the dogs. Plus photos of when you replace the slave cylinder, places you visit and the free places you'll be staying at on this trip.

If people stopped going off topic, you'd have an easy to follow thread, where I don't have to trawl through pages of rubbish (imho) not remotely related to your trip.

Mind you the same happens in many threads on mhf.

Good luck with the van, dogs and your travels by the way.

How?

If its the same part how come they can sell them to the UK sellers for less than £90 but cost more than double in the country it is made in ?

I bet the French lorry driver delivering them to the UK is on more money than the guy behind the counter in the parts shop.

Had to get diesel and lpg when I got to le man , headed to carrefour, stupid canopy was 3.2.m and doc is taller than that ...had a right carry on to fill up . Had to drive in the wrong way to both pumps and stretch hose over far enough so i could park outwith the canopy , got a lot of strange looks from the frenchies but got there in the end . Lpg was a little more difficult as parked at the rear of the pump and not a very long hose .. Had to feed it between a bollard lol.
We’ve got lpg from e leclerc in Yvetot a few times and the exit kiosk has a very low roof so we used to fill, walk and pay and then reverse out.

They have huge taxation costs if employing people the staff in the warehouse may earn lower wages than the UK but the employers tax bill for emoying them is far higher. Not just the man in the warehouse same goes for all the office staff.
You need to take your binkers off.

Couldn't you have got the UK firm to post it to you?

Probably only £20 in China so go there 😀

It's made in France apparently.

Unless they lie

Which wouldn't surprise me to be honest.

But it does state product of France.
Yes but as Lenny HB says the costs are higher in places like france and lower in China so prices are set to suit the market doesn't matter where it's made.

A true comparison would be how much the part would be in a UK factors. Ebay would usually be a lot cheaper than a retailer over here as well. If UK factor price is cheaper than French factor then...

I bought a pair of boots in decathlon today that are the same price in UK.

Whilst I appreciate prices can vary a little between countries I don't believe there is any justification for a part being more than twice the price.

I just don't, and I never will no matter how many people think there is 🤷‍♂️

IF I was confident I could drive to Spain before this packed in altogether that's what I would have done. The only reason I'm buying the part here is because I have little choice.

Right thing to do, drop in the ocean of the cost of the whole trip.

Got a new pair of waterproof waking boots and a couple of fleeces in decathlon too so Le man has had a fair bit money from me today €345 in total 🥲

Who says I'm a freeloader
For future reference I have found that Decathlon Spain is 10 percent cheaper than France.

Aye I know... sometimes I wish I'd never opened my mouth lol. You post a pic of a sandwich for a laugh and get 4 pages of a discussion about cheese ....cause everyone wants the last word on whose cheese or feckin wine is better lol.

I'm only 2 days in and already on page 11.

I struggle to follow it myself at times as I get hundreds of notifications but can only see the last 10 or 12 which means I often miss the ones I need to see.

So if you think it's hard to keep up try being the op cause its madness.

Yeah uncle Lenny HB is a bit like that with fish🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Aye I discovered that too but my boots were letting in water to the point the dogs walks were getting shorter so I needed a new pair now .

Weren't bad for £50 though and waterproof so that'll do .

The French that live close to the border shop in Spain.......(y)(y)
I don't blame them.

If I ever buy land in Portugal I'll shop in Spain too lol . That's why I want a bit close to Spain 🤣🤣🤣

And why I normally just drive through France.

There's making a profit and there's taking the piss.

I made the profit on the car by buying it cheap not selling it dear. That's the difference. The price I sold it for was still a lot cheaper than similar models with the Miles and condition available . Hence it selling no problem.

The part I've just bought is a good example of taking the piss

The guy who bought my second hand volvo had a choice ...

I need the part so I don't have a choice.
Tam if you think that's taking the piss
I needed a m10 bolt for my drop down bed contacted camper uk 2 weeks ago came back with this from germany.
That price is just the bolt

Not necessarily, ie, here you go. Same spares, different suppliers/manufacturers with shipping from Germany at £8.45.

There is absolutely no justification for the extortionate prices of parts in France.

Jock.

I told him about some good prices on t-shirts while in Cornwall and he bought a load of them and blamed me later…😆🤣

Anyone can talk about any subject for as long as they like on my thread if they want, as long as it not about cheese and crackers cause Tam eats them all the time….😎
