Delivery delays

Just to add to my post above, are the dealers pre-ordering earlier in anticipation of the delays?

In our case it was a stock Chelston order already made with Adria that we latched onto in October 21 for delivery in April 22 - no mention of it being anything but their normal practice. We were able to adjust the spec with options due to the lead time but the base vehicle remained the same. Last info was delivery in July based on the delays they had seen with other orders coming through in the same timeframe. Speaking with them next week to see what the ‘Adria Portal’ says (if anything!).

I think it might be helpful to all of us straining at the leash over delivery information if the manufacturer could be mentioned when posting?

I'm waiting on a Deffleths from Lowdhams. I'm certainly not straining at the leash because I thought the delivery date was very optimistic at best considering we only ordered it that NEC in February. But I'm led to believe they have a batch on pre order and this is the ones sold at the show.

I am a Texan residing in Ecuador. I have been monitoring this forum for some time because my wife and I have an Adria Compact DL on order and I have been trying to ascertain when we might expect delivery. I joined this site today in order to give a little insight into on our progress. I am grateful for all of the good information that you all have provided.

We ordered our unit in Germany in October of 2021. It was already on order for dealer's stock but we were able to make changes, adding the options that we desired. I don't know the original order date, but it was scheduled for January production and a February delivery to the dealer. We were given an approximate delivery date of late March or early April, allowing for dealer installed options.

In March I inquired as to the status and was informed that I now had a May production date. Today I again inquired and was told that it is now scheduled for week 35 (September) production. The actual information supplied to the dealer by Adria reads as,
Slot 01/22, Plan-Production KW 35/22.
Should that come to fruition, I am not especially looking forward to picking it up in Germany, in November!

Other uncertainties are price and engine size. I signed a contract but it states that any manufacturer's price increases can be passed on to me. So I have no idea what my cost might actually end up being. I have no money down and will only be required to remit 5,000 EU once the dealer receives it, and before they will install dealer options. I guess that leaves me options. Also, I ordered a 160hp diesel engine but I'm reading that Fiat has discontinued that one. Hopefully I'll be upgraded to the 180hp.

I have read several posts here questioning if some of your delays could be due to the limited demand of right hand drive vehicles. Judging from my status I would think that's unlikely. I suppose we are all in the same boat regardless of what, where or when we ordered. Worldwide component shortages are likely to continue for quite some time so I guess we all need to breath deeply and be patient.

Thanks for your informative post. For info as posted previously I have a deposit paid contract at a fixed price insulated from price increase
The only uncertainty is the availability of the upgrades I requested within the contracted price. My dealer as emailed me tha each element within an upgrade package is actually given a price and that will be refunded should it not materialise.
My Rapido Dreamer PVC is still showing the 160hp and would if pushed agree to pay the 180hp premium. I would be disappointed with a 140hp even with a refund.
It would appear fiat are still trundling both RHD and LHD of their production lines. The unknowns of delivery date and upgrades remain!

Hi, welcome to the forum and thank you for the update.

Your order history almost mirrors ours and I have been speaking with our dealer today to seek further clarification.

We signed a contract in mid October for a dealer pre-ordered stock Adria Compact Supreme SC, (I don’t know when their original order date was), which we were allowed to amend to our specifications, including 160bhp with 9 speed automatic, air conditioning, leather upholstery and a few more options. The original estimated delivery was sometime in April 2022. Fully expecting to miss that estimate I was informed in late March that July was more likely but nothing specific.

Today we have been given a specific delivery date allocated to the dealer of 28/08/22 (week 35), although not guaranteed and subject to revision due to ongoing reasons we are all aware of. I questioned them regarding the shortage of 160bhp engines and was assured that Adria had already informed the dealerships as to which orders had been affected, and the buyers given options - ours is still scheduled for the 160bhp lump. I was also told (without prompting!) that our order was ‘price protected’ and remains at the October list price as agreed at the time - as the order sheet was signed by both parties and a deposit paid I wasn’t expecting any increase but it’s good to have it confirmed and would have saved any friction further down the line. Out of interest I’ve just been on the Adria website and used the online configurator to specify an identical 2022 Compact model and the price has gone up by more than £6500!

Of course, if one is amending engine and gearbox specifications, one has to realise that that is going back up the chain to pre-chassis build, not just to converter options, which could be done after a standard chassis delivery to the converter, so not so far up the chain.

I wonder if the P&O ferries issues have led to (further) delays getting them over the water?

It didn’t affect our order - I was careful to ensure that we could change the pre-ordered stock specifications from 140bhp manual to the 160bhp auto without changing the original scheduled delivery date. That was the first thing the dealer discussed with Adria and had confirmed. From previous posts on this thread it appears that the deletion of the 160bhp engine and replacement with ‘whatever’ is having a delaying effect as you suggest. Is it mainly the Adria Twin models that it’s hitting?

I had a follow up discussion with the dealer today to clear up a few things.

I was told that Adria is making every effort to honor the price of any sold vehicle that was originally scheduled to be produced until March 2022. I don't know what "until" means, does that include March? That's a nice statement but they are not bound by it in anyway that I can see, other than public relations I suppose. This brings up an interesting point. Those of you with firm guaranteed prices have an agreement with the dealer. I wonder what the dealer/manufacturer agreements say. If it allows for price increases, how can the dealer absorb those costs? Especially after the problems of last couple of years. I imagine the manufacturers' bottom lines don't look so good either.

I was also told that they are still receiving vehicles from Adria and that the problem is an unpredictable supply from Fiat.

Finally, regarding the 160hp engine, I was assured that if it was unavailable, I would receive the 180hp. I have the 160hp ordered with the 9 speed auto transmission.

Reply to my email from Highbridge that price remains the same as invoiced irrespective of the annual price increase. So it's possible that I will be getting a 2023 van at at a 2021 price! Perhaps a crumb of consolation, now just have to hope the van money residing in Premium Bonds do something!
Be aware that the dealer will put your delivery way down the list compared to others ordered at higher price. I would want to pitch outside the dealership to see how many of your marque of van arrives and departs before you get yours🥴

As our order was originally scheduled for an April delivery and was said to be ‘price protected’, I would assume that March/April will be at the very least the cutoff point for prices to be honoured.

Our Carthago was ordered last August reserved from an allocation of vans for Camper Uk. First expected January then March, apparently it is now on its way and should be here at the weekend. 🤞 We agreed a trade in price for ours at the time and think our purchase price is as per order.

Just to put some perspective to the issues Adria, and others, had. Memory a bit fuzzy now but bearing in mind ours was first due in Sept 2021 as a first order of the ‘22’ models I learned in October time of the delay and that Fiat had now got problems getting metallic paint and had told ALL their receivers they could only have 50% of their orders fulfilled in metallic paint.

Adria decided, because they build a C class in silver metallic only, that all their Twins would now be in solid colours of White, Lanzarote Grey or Expedition Grey. We had to change colour and chose the lighter grey. That was the way they chose to manage the problem.

Then I think around January or February 22 we were given details of Adria’s new timescale method, i.e.you get an estimated delivery date and then 30 days before actual delivery they gave you a new 30 day more accurate date, albeit it could change, and it did frequently.

At this time we were given end of March I think but the FACT Adria now said I would get silver again was a big change & ive recently seen a brand new Twin arrival also in metallic paint

royandsharont was there any mention of 160bhp engines being unavailable - and any models being hit worse than others? And have you benefited from the price being held?

Orion Nothing said about the engine bhp. I have the auto with the 140bhp coming, as happy with that from my past driving style in previous Ducato 130 bhp/2.3 on a 500k heavier van.

Yes the price in May was agreed to be the 22 base model increase, when known, but no additional increase for the options, and we have lots, but Adria changed all options which made this hard to apply to the new price list. We also agreed significant dealer additions to come within the price.

So in July we agreed new 22 model price which had only increased by about half of what we both expected. This price is fixed and dealer has confirmed it. I hope, and expect, the dealer additions to be honoured too with the dealers excellent reputation and my own personal experienc so far 😊

Nothing said about other models. I told him I didn’t believe it would even come this year, which shocked tge dealer, he felt more confident of it coming. We have a big date fixed mid August & we really want the van in time for that all done, dusted & ready to go and he didn’t think it would be a problem.

For our general travelling style I would want it registered mid July onwards up to end August Re MOT when we are normally back in U.K.

We heard yesterday that our Burstner Nexxo (Fiat Ducato 140) has been built! It’s still in Germany but hoping it’ll be ready in a couple of weeks 🥂🎉

When was the original delivery scheduled for?

Adria Compact Supreme SC model, originally mooted for April delivery with latest ‘at dealer 28th August’. We’ll see if that happens!

I hear from a good source that Groupe Pilote is to cease doing "Model years".

Yesterday I passed a low loader travelling North on the A1 carrying an unplated brand spanking new Malibu in Fiat Ducato Expedition Grey ... at least someone's order was being delivered ...

There were 4 New Orange Adria PVC's being hosed down at Highbridge earlier this week. So they are dripping in. But the forecourt was very empty with spaces filled with trailer tents and a few comical looking micro caravans!

2 Roller Team Zafiro and 2 Laika A class came off Irish Ferries at Dover yesterday.

I’m waiting on new Pilote P696GJ
It’s been on order since October
was told it was batched on the 15/4/22 and will be here for the end of May 🤞
Well that's a better forecast than mine. Ordered Rapido Dreamer August 21 for mid April 22 delivery now October perhaps!

Other info I'm getting is that the brands Globecar and Roadcar from the Pössl Group are being discontinued. Roadcar is not sold here but I need to find out if the info about Globecar only applies for Germany.
