Are the Germans destroying wild camping in Spain?

We went on a bike ride from there that brought us back through the other parking and, 100 metres or so from where we'd parked, all along the track, was toilet paper. We'd not been that way previously. I MIGHT have picked it up, I have done so before!
And they blame the Motorhomes for it.

I've posted this before. In Galicia. An area that tolerates (after reopening after banning) overnight parking. It's a popular surfers parking and most of the vehicles are campervans. The marked footpath heading to (or from it) has the odour of poo and the paper to show where its from.

I'm fully expecting to see another ban here.

(Can't blame the Germans entirely)

Aren’t people great ☹️

We drove the car to murcia ikea yesterday as needed some bits and the car park across the road was full of motorhomes.
That is because it is the official mh parking area for 80>100 vans with water, waste & dump It is when they overflow in to the adjacent car park to the right when looking from IKEA or even when they start to fill up the front of IKEA that is the problem
The Garda cleared them all off last winter.
That was Ikea ,I believe

Similar up the road here where they blame the "dogs" every morning I walk the same way ,5kms , & every morning there are piles of shite complete with paper, so unless the dogs are learning? , dunkiesempty wrappers for same, food containers, you name it ,it is dumped daily & overnight, etc .

I’m surprised you’re not up there every night with a sniper rifle and night sights😄

Not meant with any racist undertones but it seems that all the good wild camping spots down the east coast have been taken over by hoards of Germans and Dutch who set up camp, reserve their spaces by leaving chairs out etc and try to dictate what other people do, whilst doing exactly what they want without any consideration of their surrounding?

The result seems to be that the locals get pissed off and then the police and all of a sudden what used to be a really nice spot by stop for a few nights, is closed or made inaccessible.

I know the few can ruin it for the majority, but it just seems that the few are now the majority with hoards of D & NL vans this year?
That depends, iff they are stealing all the towels then yes…

JJ there are plenty of nice Germans and Dutch, other nationalities are available, but these people by their actions aren't necessarily nice.
And how would you, a guy that lives alone in the middle of a forest, be able tell us what's going on, on the coast? Facebook? ::bigsmile:
Because I live in my motorhome which has got wheels connected to an engine which allows me to move around as I please.

This month I have visited Tomar, Pego Altar, Armaço de Pera, Parchal, Quarteira and Silves.

Hope this helps.

I don't think any of those places are in Spain so not really relevant.

JJ if you visited Armaço de Pera can you still stay on the carpark at the front?

If you want...

Every now and then I understand some folk have been moved off for "camping"

I have been told that vans are back on the big space in Alvor.

I avoid off-site motorhoming where there are lots of other vans.

If I want to be social I use reasonably priced sites.

In Mojacar last month there was a motorhome the size of a large coach parked on the Paseo for a week, blocking views of the sea from cafe's opposite and even taking light! UK plates.

We don't generally wild camp, and if we do it's only for a couple of days.
The RV is just to big to not upset one of the locals.
I prefer Aires, you know you won't get booted off, and you know your not upsetting anyone.

I stopped wild camping many years ago with the amount of official ‘Stellplatz‘ growing in numbers each year throughout Europe. Doldemedien publish the ‘Bordatlas Stellplatzführer’ that’s easy to understand and is in two volumes, one for Germany and the other for Europe. It comes with vouchers that make it very easy to recuperate the small investment. For more than a day, I stop at a proper campsite.

We dropped in yo the aire at Los Alcazares this morning to empty and fill. 4 french vans, the largest being 7.5m, parked sideways taking up 14 parking spaces.....wtf?

These Aires clearly need some sort of policing by someone other than the moho community self appointed leaders?

To top it off, a German converted coach gets over the grey waste dump and empties his toilet waste :madder: The drainage at this service point isn't great so everyone after him has to stand or walk through his shite :envy:

It seems to be the same from Northern Scotland to Southern Spain. Wild camping is tolerated when the occasional motorhome stops off for a night or two without inconveniencing anyone. However as soon as a spot becomes popular and the practice draws attention to itself there is an inevitable local backlash. Wild camping is a victim of its own popularity and I think further limitations are inevitable.
It's not just Scotland and Spain, as I have said before our locals are posed off with inconsiderate wild campers emptying toilets in the sea is not on, we are supposed to have a Blue Flag sea.

I omitted to mention the sanitary towels ,tampons, G strings & thongs* & various other items of under wear.
* i always wondered why in the mens/womens& shared toilets there were always dispensing machines for thongs & g strings along with the usual condoms, mouth spray & mini toothbrush & paste

I think the best years of motorhoming are behind us due to the numbers. We will not be going to Scotland again even though Mrs Georgio is very fond of shopping.

indeed, and that was over 20 years ago...

years ago we a window broken during the night at Aldeburgh while overnighting on the sea wall, (which is now banned) we never off-site camp.. full stop.

Abroad we use aires when travelling for one or two nights, otherwise municipal or basic low cost sites ..

in the UK , Cls or sites

I agree with you that we've had the very best of motorhoming. No matter what country you motorhome in, the hordes have descended and have made things so much more difficult.

On the plus side, there are more official places than there used to be, but there are tooooo many more people wanting to use these places.

There will NEVER be a solution to suit us all.
