Anyone still going away for New Year ?

I guess they should say you travel and it’s not essential are you shopping
And you fall ill with it then you foot the bill for care that stop a lot of people when they get the 40 grand bill for private care
Money talks
Why should tax payers pay for people going out on a jolly up
Maybe I am wrong but think that would help

well said .I would hazard a guess that some of the people who have pretty much branded me a criminal for having the nerve to take my family away in a motorhome for new year , are more than happy to browse around a Garden Centre !
I will feel much safer on this holiday than I would walking around a shop at the moment !
If it's allowed by law then it's not criminal - but that doesn't make it wise or socially justified.
I certainly wouldn't go near a garden centre in the current climate - and really don't understand the public health justification why they [and many other non essential] businesses are open... obviously there is an economic imperative.
You might 'feel' safer but actually, are you?
How do you know?
And what about the people that interact with you, are they safer now you've turned up?
And how does the "safer" thing work if 1000's decide to do the same thing - because they feel 'safer'.

I'm sure everyone who decided that going for a healthy walk in the countryside yesterday felt that it was a safe 'allowed' activity :xdoh:

First thing this morning I drove into the long stay car park in Helmsley were overnighting has been suspended indefinitely and found no less than 6 motor homes that had obviously overnighted. Possibly they had come from their Tier 4 house to bring all their infection to our Tier 2 in Helmsley!😱

Maybe they arrived last night and didn't realise that the parking had been suspended, if they slept in their vans and moved on this morning you might find that no harm has been done ;)

She they come from a Tier3 to avail themselves of Tier2 hospitality NO.

Ridiculous - Shropshire cases are 0.1%.
Yes, and rising.

Royal Shrewsbury is bursting at the seams with COVID patients.

What else do you suggest? The NHS has finite resources, anyone unlucky enough to need a hospital stay should get one.

Last statistics I saw, there were 53 covid patients across the 2 hospitals with none on ventilators.

Yes, 53 patients that they would otherwise have space to treat everyone else. They run at 95% capacity normally.

They are full.

Tier 2 isn’t working and cases are still rising.

Well lot's can say that.Where we live there are zero but unfortunately we live in a rather large part of a county that includes a few city's so all lumped in together. After reading this and some selfish people pleasing themselves / not thinking of others I am fine with them moving us into T4 and if Police want to fine/ stop and ask all van oners why they are moving around so be it. At least now I should not be seeing Caravans and MHs passing by.

In my opinion, the whole country should have had at least a fortnights complete lockdown over Xmas and new year when most folks are at home anyway, would have caused next to no disruption, and policed by the army on the streets.
Might have just been enough to stop the rot.
Instead of shily shalying about , some in some out.

Probably still safer than a garden centre
I do find it odd that people seem to converge on mass to certain places but I'm not living in a city and have plenty options where I don't need to get close to anyone when out
I know this is not posable for some and believe everyone should get some outside exercise if they possibly can
Being inside 24/7 may end up causing a lot of younger people more harm than covid

Looks like the government have made peoples minds up for them. I hope full timers are settled in a bolt hole to sit it out then lets hope they start policing non essential travel for everyone motorhomes included.

Just think of the headlines , if the army brought in . Without doubt they could police it no problem , unfortunately I think ( not from me ) there will be uproar , but the irresponsible people don’t see it like that . They think i am alright jack what’s the problem ?

Hmmm...my full-timer son is settled into a bolt hole.... on my driveway 😂

The campsite he normally uses, to be near to his work, is Tier 4 and normally closed in January so I have no idea where or when he will be able to go.
