Hi, I am awaiting a new Adria PVC which should have been here last October but keeps on getting put back on a monthly basis. Now end of June and I don’t believe it will come then if I’m honest. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if it finally arrived in 2023!

Trying to get any information of the true delay situation from the manufacturers, let alone information that you can trust to be correct and up to date, I am finding impossible. Nothing on the news for Europe but some in America Re shifts being closed at factories there from 2 to 1 a day, but that is about Stellantis car plants I believe.

The delays all appear to revolve around Stellantis production in Italy at their Sevel plant but still none the wiser as to specifically why. Saying the Pandemic repeatedly does not do it for me now.

I would just like to get some honest understanding of why the monthly delays continue and I think all Fiat based manufacturers are pretty much the same.

I wanted to start this Thread for comments from anyone who has got confirmed news or information, rather than rumours and speculation, although if my experiences are the same as others no one will be able to confidently add an update, but here goes 👍🏻

Regards in advance if anyone can add anything

Maybe, but the new series 8 van with 'proper' 9 sp auto will make it worth while
Plus the sublime 2.2L diesel from the Jeep Cherokee. A big improvement in flexibility and quietness compared to the old 2.3 or the PSA DW12 2.2L in the Peugeot/Citroen-badged variants.

Did you also benefit from ‘price protection’ as we previously discussed?
Yes I did. The dealer informed me that the price I negotiated in October 21 stands. I had no deposit and the contact clearly stated that any Adria price increase could be passed along to me. It tells me that I'm dealing with honest and ethical companies.

We’ve just received a confirmed build date at the factory. Order was placed Oct 2021 with an original Ex-works Q3 2022 but that quickly disappeared as it seems the factory received absolutely zero Fiat chassis in 2022 !! Now she goes into factory on Monday and will be ready end of Feb +/- a week or so. Then some specification shenanigans and will be ready end March with a targeted collection date 1st April (don’t laugh). So in total 18 months which seems fairly normal in this upside down world these days🤷‍♂️

12wks to get a lot of things done😳 time will fly.

What have you ordered that takes 4/5 weeks to build?

Niesmann + Bischoff Arto with lots of kit, seems to be some of the extras that have caused an issue so far (on top of the chassis/motor)

My favourite subject! Like my signature says, "Hymer (Grand Canyon / Ducato) order placed 1/21, 1st ETA 5/22, 2nd ETA 8/22, 3rd ETA 11/22..."

When we decided to get a new one, I was expecting for max 6 moths wait and all the dealers said 4-5 months. But everyone learned it will be Autumn 2022 so we decided to abandon the idea. Then a dealer (and another the next day) called back telling it would be here 5/2022, and even though that was quite a long wait we decided to go ahead because it had been a long and thorough process to find and decide the model. Sold our previous PVC 2 months later (we do >15000 miles/year so the car would've had >120000 miles when the new would arrive so we sold it while it still worked and the MH-hype was at it's peak) and started waiting.

At that time we were going with the 7/2020 prices and were promised that the prices will hold even if it was known the prices will rise for the next year. Then came the new Ducato and new prices and we went through the order again, adding a lot of kit now available. The price for our van had risen some 3000 euros (for the original order, new addons of course made even more) but we were still promised the original pricing. Soon after that we got informed of 3 months more wait. And after 3 months we got informed of 3 months more wait (at that time at was about 1/2022, 4 months before the original ETA). A few weeks ago I asked for the updated summary of our order because last time we didn't get it, and while waiting for it, I noticed the prices have gone even more up since our last meeting. Now the price seems to be over 9000 euros more than our original order.

I have asked again for the summary (waited 2 weeks after asking the first time) and it's slightly exciting to see if the original pricing still holds. If he is still going with the original pricing it will be quite respectable and I'm up for a deal of a lifetime. And not going to ask for any compensation for delayed delivery :) . He told that the automatic gearbox is the main reason for the delay, without it it would probably come sooner.

So, to make long story short, our original wait of about 14 months (of wich were on month 14) has expanded to (at least) 22 months. Currently I'm looking for some s**tty van for next to nothing to get even a bit away sometimes as it seems I'm up for second summer without anything.

I put a deposit for a dealer pre-ordered premium campervan at last October NEC show. I only went ahead with it because the dealer said I could still spec it up with my preferred options. Got an email today from the dealer saying that they have now received a vehicle build confirmation (not too sure what that means) from the converter but... the Maxi chassis option is no longer supplied. Didn't get asked if I wanted to cancel; just told that they had reduced the price accordingly. Has anyone here, with a Ducato Maxi chassis on order, been told the same?
Fiat is no longer taking orders for the Ducato 8 and that all vans delivered from early Summer will be on the Ducato 9. Don't expect to see many (if any) visual differences as this seem to be a cynical ploy to cancel orders and replace them with an emissions tweaked engine with the bonus of having some equipments removed from packs (like the leather steering wheel and gear lever). All of this with another price increase of course...

Elddis (Hymer UK) are not showing any prices at the moment, and state "orders taken in Mar 23 for delivery Autumn 23"
All the gallery pictures are the older series 7 vans.
I've had an order in since week 1 Jan 22 - delivery 'expected Feb 23' . . but not holding my breath

I guess the two people who work at the factory are doing their best !!!

Steve
Our Elddis Chatsworth (Autoquest based dealer special) ordered in Feb 2022 for delivery Sept 2022 handed over ~Nov 22. The Encore range which is built on the Fiat rather than Peugeot chassis is not being built as a 2023MY. They can be ordered potential from March 2023 for MY2024 delivery in October 2023. No prices quoted. The Autoquest/Accordo on the Peugeot chassis are available. Its the continuing Fiat supply chain issue

We've just had a call - We'll be at least April 23 now for our Fiat Carado - and, if there is anyone 'legal' here, can you tell me, theyre doing us a favour and changing our 2022 accessories to 2023 accessories (they haven't specified what they are yet) - and they only want to charge us an extra £2000 for the privilege - surely they cant do this (or and I deluded) - ordered September 21 and we paid a 10% deposit on the day. Sigh this is starting to get boring now :-(

What does it say on your bill of sale/contract regarding a fixed price (or not)?

I'm just going through the small print now, wont they (Travelworld) claim force majeure tho?

Depending on when you ordered I would have thought that dealers and manufacturers would have been reasonably aware of the issues of supply etc. and that would have been factored into the agreed/contracted price. Adria and dealers certainly appear to be continuing to sell on a ‘price protected’ basis. However, if the agreed specification has been ‘improved’ and the price increased accordingly it’s something open to discussion with them. BTW have a look at the price of the vehicle if ordered today and judge if a £2k increase is in order - our Adria was up £20k on the order price when it showed up a tad over a year later!

They would struggle to argue force majeur in a court of law after this length of time as by now the circumstances preventing them from fulfilling their contract are not the critical "unforeseeable".We've not made this stick on our construction projects.I bet they have continued to market their products and take orders after yours. They could have offered you other options well before now.It should be their commercial risk as a business not yours, with I assume a fixed price contract.Btw, I'm expecting the same arguments when I finally get a build slot.

We ordered via Highbridge a Fiat Based Rapido converted PVC August 21 for April 2022 delivery, put back to end Oct 22 eventually arrived 2nd Dec 22.
Price was protected with the offer that if an element of an upgrade I had paid for did not materialise they would refund that element as they all have individulal prices within the overall upgrade price; all in writing. As it turned out everything was exactly as ordered. I ordered the 160hp Heavy chassis. I was however prepared to pay the extra for the 180hp if the 160hp was (as has happened) discontinued as it was an upgrade I had not ordered. If the 2k extra is for the 180hp upgrade I would think that fair. As for force majeure that is pie in the sky sharp practise.
In fact the only change was that the 9" Infotainment head unit changed to a Pioneer rather than Alpine so no issue.
Will be interesting to see what the 2023 spec offers over and above the 2022 spec.

We ordered a PVC on a Ducato chassis 17 months ago. In November 22 we had an opportunity to buy another van that was already with a dealer. As we wanted this particular van we put down a deposit and cancelled the PVC. Unfortunately the deal fell apart and have lost out on 2 vans. We have found another Fiat based van that was preordered back in October last year by the dealer and was originally showing delivery next month (pull the other one). The dealership did say this had changed to July this year (pull the other one) whilst putting up the price by £6k. Do any of you think Fiat are starting to move a little quicker or do you think I’m looking at 2024?

I think the log jam has certainly eased judging by those appearing at Highbridge. If you want the Auto on a Fiat it will by all accounts be slower in arriving than a manual Peugeot which are produced in larger numbers in two manufacturing bases. I had a 17 month wait on a Fiat Auto, however with things easing I would think perhaps a 9 month delay might be reasonably accurate.

Oh hell, I feel for you. I perfectly understand you looking for another van when you’ve waited so long and still no sign of it. I’m curious though, why cancel your original order before the replacement order was all in place?
I’m searching for one all the time. If mine is built as per the latest date it will have been an 18 month wait. It’s a killer. Good luck and I hope it’s sooner for you 🤞🤞

There were two dealers involved and two different brands of Van. Having assumed the deal for van 2 would run smoothly, as it was already at the dealership we cancelled van 1.

It now appears there is a further delay on automatics from Fiat with Q1 23 deliveries now June 23 😒 What a shambles that business is when others appear to have readjusted and adapted better.

Hard to believe. Still the price guarantee will soften the blow when it does arrive.

Anyone waiting keep the faith, my Adria compact supreme DL 160BHP Auto was delivered to my dealer this week. Ordered in July 2021. Going to roll over collection till March 1st now and benefit from a 23 plate.
And a shout out to Marquis of Surrey (who seem to get a lot of negative feedback- price protected from original sale).

Is there anyone who had their order changed from a Maxi-Chassis to the regular one? My dealer told me that Fiat has cancelled all Maxi-Chassis on 3.5T PVCs.

It's a beauty. I have an identical one waiting for me in Germany. Presently I'm loading it up with options for a March handover. My original order's specs are all included as well as the price.

If that had happened to me that would not have been acceptable as the payload would have been insufficient.
Having said that Highbridge would have reduced the price by that element. I would still have gone through with the deal and then immediately sold it on and pocketed a nice profit.

I have not seen anything or any moaning about delivery delays on the Spanish or Portuguese motorhome forums, I wonder if its RHD chassis could you get LHD sooner ? I wonder if anyone has tried. 🤔 Bob.
LHD chassis are no quicker, ordered a Pilote last August here in Germany, no build date yet......May not even be in 23....have made other plans for this year and if the MH comes then it's a bonus.

Going to the factory on 2nd Feb to have a gander and see where the new bus is in terms of readiness, will become quite clear at that point if the date is real or not😉

Production of Ducatos and its clones at the SEVEL factory was the lowest for ten years in 2022 at 206,000 units. Last weekend one shift was on strike and the factory will close this coming week due to lack of parts. No wonder so many converters are switching to Ford.
