After 2 nights at Zamudioku we moved on towards the Picos. Didn't get very far - I wanted to stop off and say hello to some bikers from the MC Piston club in Cantabria. After a visit of their museum, we moved on to a lovely car park at Cabarceno, which had its own amazing wildlife park. Just walking the dogs around the perimeter we saw a herd of deer, some big black cows with very big horns and this morning we saw the elephants being let out for their daily exercise! Also home to a huge flock of white birds that rested in the trees and left early in the morning. No facilities on the car park (there used to be, some years ago) but a lovely bar and shop in the village 5 minutes walk away.

Having driven through the Picos de Europa, stopping for lunch in Las Arenas, we pitched up at the free motorhome parking place in Riano. The town itself is nothing to shout about, but the surrounding scenery is breathtaking. For contrast, the first picture was taken through the bathroom window. The other through the windscreen. Due to the on-going building work, I don't know how much longer this facility will be available for ☹️

Was in the Picos last year. Stayed on a site in Potes. Potes is infinitely better tha Riana. Did a lot of miles on my bike in and around The Picos, loved it.

The new Riano isn't that appealing. Apparently the old Riano, which is now submerged beneath the lake, was prettier. Judging by the depleted water level in the lake, the old one will be reappearing soon!

Monday night we stayed on the free Aire at Foz. Lovely level grassed site at the end of the estuary, with waste and fresh water facilities. Short walk into town for bars and shops. Fresh bread delivery van visited early morning. Highly recommended, but forgot to take a "through the window" picture ☹️
Tuesday we moved on to the Coast of Death ( for ships we hope, not motorhomes 😁) and spent last night on a charming car park listening to the Atlantic waves crashing onto the rocks below from our vantage point overlooking the Praia de Seaia. Access is slightly tricky if coming from the north, as we did, but we got there OK. No services but lovely views, dog walks and a mini- supermarket and several bars in the village which is a 500 metres walks away. Lady in the bar we visited (Bar Hamburg - recommended 👍) said it was OK to stay overnight out of season but not in summer as it gets busy. There aren't any parking restrictions signs however - just a warning that there isn't a lifeguard on this beach.

The weather has finally taken a turn for the worse. It was OK yesterday for our walking tour of Santiago but last night a storm blew in bringing with it torrential rain and gale force gusts of wind. Fortunately on a great camper stop site with all facilities should we have to sit it out.

Awoke to the sound of horses being exercised at the racecourse we are staying at in Foxton, North Island, NZ. Sorry the horse is just a dot in the distance.
Later we got an email to suggest we might like to change our ferry crossing from Sunday because rough weather was predicted, so we are crossing right now. I’ve taken my Sea Legs and I’m sucking barley sugars but so far it’s like millpond.

Ooops! Sorry, the last two photos are from the Wellington ferry, not the motorhome.

Free parking spot outside the village of Guardia de Jaen. Two tiered parking bays - top one has a motorhome service point with black and grey waste points + free water filling point. Lower one hasn't. Great views from both of them 👍 Village 5 minutes walk down hill, 20 minutes back up! Castle entrance 5 minutes further up the hill. Only us here so far. Last night we stayed in Merida, an experience I would rather forget.

View of the Sierra Nevada from our spot at Camping Orgiva. We were awoken at 05:30 this morning by some local yobs throwing stones at our motorhome. One hit the passenger side door window but didn't break it. The hab door has a small dent in it and one of the fridge exhaust plastic covers has been broken. Some people.......☹️

Sunday lunchtime van picnic at the free aire at Chef-Boutonne about 40kms from home. Apparently space for 30 vans, but just one other French couple in the Chausson today. Looked a bit damp, so didn't risk parking fully off track.

(I'm still trying to figure out how the reflection in the driver's door window arose ??)

Can't lie I'm just back from a trip to Spain so could really have done with the hours but that's the joys of being self employed I guess. When it aint busy I'm the first to go.
I get that.
Contracting is an interesting game. 🤔

Lovely site with all facilities, The Birches, Old Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. £16.00 per night which included 3 quid worth of Electrics any extra you had to pay we went over and had to pay £1.26. Two pubs locally and a lovely walk from site to Linacre Reservoir (y)

Parked up at the riverside, plenty of flooded fields and the waters going a fair pace 👍🏻

Road in is terrible, it’s a crawl along with passing places, but talk about uneven. Lots of gouges out of the tarmac where you’d not see it in the dark. Put the suspension through its paces.
