YouTube vanlife drama

I don't know why this pair carry on with vanlife as the title of every one of theirs is yet another disaster befalling them.
Never watched one of their videos as I don't give a sh*t about their sad lives.

That's a shame as they are actually one of the better ones. They currently have a major issue with their 33 year old camper that they can't fix and are stuck in the UK with it .. a short wheel base transit

So I can kind of sympathise with their mood at the minute. They usually have quite good videos though.

They all want us to spend our time watching their videos, so they get paid. It's just a business, that's how they earn their living. I don't have any issues with them doing that, sometimes I watch, sometimes I don't. It's not difficult to determine which are click baiting and which may offer some useful information. I tend to prefer watching those tubers who get their hands dirty, doing stuff on their vehicles themselves. It gives me ideas and information on how to do (though more often than not, how NOT to do) something.

I think YouTube is a great resource and have been thankful on numerous occasions that someone has shared their experiences.

But it's the constant disaster clickbait titles of these and other vanlifers that is the turn-off for me.

I agree Tam

they are one of the few couples I still like to watch, some of the drone videos they shoot really are fantastic quality especially up in the Spanish mountains areas where they live.

And yes the trouble they’re having atm with their van is sad but hopefully it’ll be sorted soon and they can continue with the UK tour they are on atm.

Yeah I agree with that, the titles are often way exaggerated. Some of the youtubers drive me nuts ,others are pretty good . I don't know where they find the time for all this videoing and editing though which is why I couldn't be bothered doing it.

What is patrion? Do people actually donate money or what?

Yes they actually do 😲
There are seriously some sad people about, they will be at the food bank this morning then donating to to keep someone else in living the dream this afternoon.

Just why would you send someone you don't know money?

I've watched and eventually unsubscribed from most of the usual suspects once they start plugging gear or review freebies, they nearly all do it eventually.

This is one couple who I'm following atm moment, a lovely American couple who recently toured Europe in a 4wd.
Love their truck and they have done lots of touring in other areas of the globe.

Dirt Sunrise Adventures, well worth a look...

I do like watching YouTube Van life videos. I have quite a mixed lot of different types. My favourite is ‘Kinging it’ very professional and funny. I like it to be realistic and not all ‘instagrammy’ we also like ‘Travel Beans’, Nomadic, Bob Earnshaw. We dip in and out of others. Watch a few John snd Mandy. They are all very honest which sadly don’t feel the Roaming Redford are. I also like The Rolling Rucks very funny.

There is lots of good and bad information out there. I would love to document out trips for family and friends to see. But too lazy 🙄.

Yes, there's a very nice couple who sail around the world on a brand new catamaran through the proceeds of youtube.
That said there's a lot of actors and TV presenters do the same thing

Technically they are paying for entertainment and are obviously happy to do so

I don’t subscribe to any of them The ones I like to watch are just bookmarked and I watch them when I feel like it. Sometimes better than what is on tv!

Our take on the oooohtubers is they are an alternative to the telly when there's nothing on.

We subscribe on the telly version of YouTube, not on devices, so don't know, nor care if our subs actually help them.

Like most things on the ether of the Internet, you have to have a large pinch of salt to hand.

We like 'tread the globe', but realise they didn't sell everything, they have a house rented out. We like their style and ambition.

'CamperVibe', different content. But as the entitled generation lots of basic knowledge of life that comes with experience is atypical of the 'tech' generation.

Andrew Ditton, likeable journalist who produces good content.

'Rolling Rucks', commendable to give their kids experiential learning, but obviously pushing for funding.

"Roaming Radfords', unsure if they are 'fronting' the MH through their business that could bite them. Given how much they eat out, paid very high campsite fees on their latest summer holidays trip, MH drank fuel, did they come in at the £5k budget? Doubt it. All about 'look at us'.

Dan & Maz 'Travel Trolls', amusing if banal tripe. At least they are not hiding their freeloading.

Those Happy Days, oh dear, for supposedly educated they are short of common sense and practical capability needed to live in a van. The balloon trip in Turkey was off a google screensaver that pops up. Why not lead and go somewhere few have been and do something novel?

Extreme Motorhoming - technically skilled visual content, just why go on about having to burn off what is eaten all the time. Lacking practical skills considering their backgrounds.

'Caravan vlogger' - very dry, hapless fool who has found a hobby.

Chris Sloanes - irritating winger with more money than sent. Best watched with the sound off.

Here we tow - watchable with reasonable content, particularly reviews of vans

Kieran & Alice, likeable couple doing what they clearly love.

The Slaw's Adventures - likeable couple like real life married couples. Good content, informative and not up their own backsides.

Fantastic Adventures - Iain, Caroline and Mollie the collie. Likeable married couple where is over enthusiastic, she reigns him in. Amusing content.

Wizard in the Wild Camping - Nice couple highlighting you can be active well into retirement. Enjoyable content

These pair just get worse and worse, in the video before the last they were supposed to be parking up for afew weeks with mental problems, but now suddenly in their last one they have miraculously recovered enough to be in Whitby jumping up and down in fancy dress.
They finally did it !
They managed to camp in London City ! Absolutely epic 😂.

In reality they stayed at CAMC Abbey wood 🙄🙄

Still getting money though …..

That’s not that much if you think about all the hassle it must be . Filming , editing, responding to inane comments etc . All that for £1000 a month split between 2 people.

…..and having to wake up every morning and drive off somewhere and then find parking in the day and somewhere else worth filming at night. They seem to be living in supermarket car parks and eating out in the cafes every day. That money will not be going far towards fuel and food costs. Not much of a life IMO.

I honestly thought they were making some serious money from YouTube. Just shows how small the income really is . A channel like the cringy Roaming Radfords must only be making around £500 a month I am guessing .They must just like being “ famous “ 🤣

They seem to be getting desperate to find something to talk about now, can't see them getting past a cold winter.

It's all a load of shit. I would rather watch paint dry.
That is perfectly true, but I seem to be drawn in to seeing how bad it can get, and there are that many at it now it's the same old stuff over and over.
But the biggest thing that I don't get is people actually sending them money.
Why,what do they get for the money?

This E begging seems to be a thing specifically within the YouTube vanlife community.
They all seem to expect subscribers to send them money “ buy me a coffee “, “ help us keep our journey going “
“ go fund me to buy a new van “ etc
It’s amazing people are so gullible. I’ve even see kids giving their pocket money to these freeloaders .
