Yorkshire Dales trip

Moving on tomorrow, the 5 seasons bakery has a lovely selection of pies and pastries

Not sure where next, like Skipton but I have heard the coach street car park where there are 5 designated spaces can get chaotic. So I think that’s out.

We had a nice drive through the dales, Clapham, Skipton, knaresborough, Harrogate, now back at where we started Bedale for a couple of nights.
Neighbour rang last night ambulances and police took a body bag from another neighbour last night so we are going home Thursday I think as we don’t yet know who has passed away.

We stopped off at Boroughbridge for some lpg at the Morrisons there, pump is easy access for any sized Motorhome and works smooth plus comes on straight away not like some. 79.9p per litre.

It chucked it down coming but is sunny now.

I’ve slept really well this trip with no stress of work and the phone not constantly ringing.

The nearer we get to home the more anxious I become as I must subconsciously know it’s closer to Monday and back at work.

Funny thing the mind.

Relaxing now with a cup of tea and a Parkin biscuit we bought in Settle

you said "Neighbour rang last night ambulances and police took a body bag from another neighbour last night so we are going home Thursday I think as we don’t yet know who has passed away"

I thought you lived in splendid isolation on the moor with no neighbours, but I suppose there must be some within sight.

Surprising the neighbour reporting did not give the address, then you would know whether it is a friend who has passed.

The police attendance is a bit ominous, but if there is no cordon tape around the property it may have just been routine.

I hope for good news for you..

It’s a row of 6 houses Geoff up on the moor nothing else.

If you turn right from where you are parked, down the hill to the road and then right again there is a nice bakery that does, bread, cakes, pies etc.

That's the one.... I think it was the canteen when the site was a Primary School.

You used to be able to overnight in the car park before the "Aire" that you stayed on, opened.

We had one of the Sourdough Bloomers and it tasted as fresh five days later as it did when we bought it.

Yes we’ve been eating the sourdough bloomer tonight, lovely toasted too.

Because it’s the opposite directly to the village centre I bet a lot of people miss it, we wouldn’t have known unless you had said.

Come on Paul tell us how many times you have got soaked on this assault course?

We will be back in the UK on Friday got to be in Barrow in Furness Friday evening. Thinking of going back south via the Dales but only if you have used up all the rain allowance.

Hey it was just the once, no I tell a lie twice

Wait a minute I forgot one occasion 3 times.

Ok to be truthfully honest 5 times.

But it’s sunny now in Bedale, Caz just looked at the forecast, from 1pm today there’s a weather warning in place extremely strong winds 40+ mph and heavy rain so the count may go to 6😄

Touring the Dales at this time of year though it’s to be expected although maybe not quite as bad. It’s been really mild though today is the coldest we’ve had and we have just put the Truma on as it’s quicker than the Alde.

We were looking at some old photos of Germany and Luxembourg in the first Hymer, not a drop of rain in sight.

I could have been a polar explorer me I don’t shy away from adversity like the southern softies🤣

We have been lucky in France once we got to the Dordogne only had one day of light rain in over 3 weeks, has rained a few times overnight but not during the day.

Just south of Amsterdam at the moment horrendous night but bright & sunny this morning but it is blowing a Gale.
Ferry to Newcastle at 5:30 pm quite expect it to be delayed.

We like the Ijmuiden Newcastle ferry, cabins could do with updating but it’s always been a nice journey. Grub not upto much though.

It's 28c and dry here right now.
Rained 3 times this year.

I can't think what I miss about Bradford.
The people, the accent, the grub, the pubs.

Did a nice long walk today, down past Firby Hall, a beautiful house and estate, this property sold for 4.6 million in 2014 so maybe 6 million today?

Back through Bedale a quick pint of Guinness at the Waggon pub and back to the van for a late lunch.

I forgot to take a photo so I’ve cheated this time to show you one online.

It’s chucking it darn out there Lenny HB will be pleased to know 😄.

But I got back before it started so still only got soaked through 5 times in these 10 days so far😜

Can we please not divert this travel thread into political topics.

It’s stopped raining here so may get out again this afternoon.

Enjoyed the trip unfortunately all good things come to an end, home tomorrow😬.

Last night at the proms so to speak.

Edit, it’s just started chucking it down again.

No problem here chumley. Nos ponemos en camino. 👍
