Yorkshire Dales trip

Did a nice long walk today, down past Firby Hall, a beautiful house and estate, this property sold for 4.6 million in 2014 so maybe 6 million today?

Back through Bedale a quick pint of Guinness at the Waggon pub and back to the van for a late lunch.

I forgot to take a photo so I’ve cheated this time to show you one online.

It’s chucking it darn out there Lenny HB will be pleased to know 😄.

But I got back before it started so still only got soaked through 5 times in these 10 days so far😜

Not got wet yet in 3½ weeks, cabin on the boat is very dry.

We have been lucky in France once we got to the Dordogne only had one day of light rain in over 3 weeks, has rained a few times overnight but not during the day.

Just south of Amsterdam at the moment horrendous night but bright & sunny this morning but it is blowing a Gale.
Ferry to Newcastle at 5:30 pm quite expect it to be delayed.
Hope the winds tonight don’t give you a rough crossing. Once had a truly dreadful crossing Hull to Rotterdam. 🤞

It’s a rough night here wind and rain heating on its cosy inside.

Even the dogs wanted to get back in as quickly as possible after their tea.

Jug lugs Suki seems a lot better which is good. She’s had a good walk and is relaxing now.

It’s been an enjoyable trip mind you 2 weeks off work I would have been happy in a dirty Sh1thole. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Weather not the best but Yorkshiremen are tough as old boots a bit of inclemency is no problem this was me last winter asell tell thee, laughing high up on the moors.

I see the remote house I passed as I walked up Whernside on this trip is still for sale, it’s now quite famous by the looks of it, no electric, no water, no access by vehicles, a good 30 minute walk to get to it, although they say 20 minutes, it’s a derelict shell.

And no neighbours, lovely.
So wonder where the road goes to that's outside the house:unsure:

That’s not a road, it’s a footpath that leads to Whernside summit, you can’t drive on it.
During decent weather you would get thousands of hikers every week walking straight by the front door. I’ve done it many times myself.

Ps lovely photo by the way ill bet your dog enjoyed stretching his legs 👍🏼

It's about time you Lanky's, Tykes, Geordies, Makems, and the like did all those Southern Softies a big favour and organised a Fun Rally, 'oop there'

If I could manage to do it from Cornwall, it'll be a piece of parkin for you lot.

I’ll have to wait 10 years to retirement to organise that, unless I post one now for 2033😄
Give members plenty of time to plan so they can attend.
