Winter in Spain anyone?

I'm wondering from where, and when, you got your information about the police "actively" moving folk on...

JJ
I was in Evora at the time and met a German who told me they and several others had been moved on from Sagres and the other pitches around the general areas by plod.

Later in Albufeira I heard similar from a Dutch couple. Another of my stalwart sources (Spain Speaks YouTube) that I like to include in my various info feeds, confirmed many wild campers in Portugal were now being dissuaded from parking.

If you are not, good for you, hope you have a brill trip.

I read on another forum that Portugese police mounted a huge operation a couple of weeks ago..large fines were issued to over a hundred motorhomes..Mainly on The Algarve but also up the coast to Lisbon.Wild camping seems taboo at the moment.BUSBY.

Well... you might be right re the Algarve with their plans to coral motorhomers into "official" aires (not realising that most Off-Site motorhomers won't park up in squashed up lines of strangers' vans), but I am in regular contact with several folk who are touring around Portugal at this time, enjoying peaceful and hassle free Off-Siting... indeed I am off on another "adventure" in a couple of days...

Every "season" in the past, motorhomers have been "moved off" various Algarve areas (eg Armação de Pera and Alvor) one week only to have vans (including mine and friends) return days later and experience trouble free over nighting.

But I am perfectly happy if loads of vanners are scared off visiting because it will leave more space for us Rufty Tufties!

Ukbandit That depends if the Spanish don't close their borders with France or vice versa. Otherwise you are stuck in Spain, in your van.

If March is anything to go by and boarders close you will be sent packing. No country wants the added burden on healthcare that Tourists inflict.

I suspect though very very shortly you will not be able to travel across your own County boarder never mind French or Spanish.

So dilemma solved. ;)

, I don’t see what you are proposing is any different
different is they travelled whilst sick using public transport and you will be in a self contained box. Totally different.

They will be driving in a self contained box driving up through Spain and France (4 days?) to the tunnel without getting out to purchase food, emptying waste, fuel etc. Whilst at the same time being ill, then on to home, then continuing to self isolate for 2 weeks (if avoiding having to be hospitalised).
I still don’t see the ethics of knowingly carrying a virulent virus that we are trying to control across the continent in to the UK.

We have a pal who full times on the old football ground in Albufeira who also said the police had been very active in closing/clearing the free stops. They had been full there because of it.

just seen this

“Sorry for a covid post but this is good news.
Just had an email from staysure.. they are now covering ALL Covid related claims even when travelling against FCO advice, including repatriation costs.
They have also emailed me a new certificate of coverage.
Great news for all you snowbirds heading south for the winter.“

Great news don’t you all think 👍👍

It must be in their interests as they won't be selling much insurance for the foreseeable otherwise!

Or did they mean if one of you took ill the other one could drive him or her home in a couple of days,,BUSBY😁
Assumes that "the other one" has a valid licence and is insured to drive the MH home. (y)

If that is in Javea, I'm jealous, we have stayed at a friend's villa on Montgo for many a year, love it. Have a great time. Smudger55
It is Javea. We have stayed on Montgo, for winter holidays it’s great as it tends to be 1-2c warmer than where we are on pinosol/pinomar.

Montgo can feel a bit isolated though.

I will send some photos

We were in Spain in March when lockdown started (army closed javea Arenal beach).

thanks to our wonderful “digital” (faceless) airline easyJet, we ended up driving back, just by luck managing to get a cancellation on the Ferry from Bilbao.

If we are there in Javea and get another lockdown, we will stay there.

We have caved in - We are off.
After 5 years of wintering abroad, the rapid tempreture drop of not only the air but the water in my favourite swimming spots, the prospect of living in the van through an English winter..........and any other excuse we can think of.

A very different winter for us though, no touring just getting to Spain and into a sea front apartment. I haven't lived in bricks and mortar for 6 years so this could be interesting. We have rented in a small village on the Cartagena/Mazarron coast. Not very touristy and has everything we need, swimming in the sea, cycling in the countryside and plenty of walking.

We have had a crappy, frustrating year trying to get a house build out of the ground, but red tape and the British weather has beaten us.

Whatever happens with local lockdown etc we will deal with it at the time. Abide by the local rules and just get on with it. We cannot live our lives by, what if's, buts and maybe's.

Lovely part of Spain,,,We are usually in Isla Plana near Mazarron in oct...BUSBY..

Armytwowheels A good decision, we certainly couldn't have stayed anywhere cold in the winter, that's why we moved to Spain. 😁

On the serious side, the trouble these days people get loads of information from the media, and your fed stuff they want you to believe. 🤔
This year we have and are still travelling around in our motorhome and should be back home in Spain in about 3 weeks. 🙂

When you travel you decide where and what's safe, it doesn't matter whether it's parking or visiting places, you assess the dangers just like the virus you take as much care as you can, knowing that if you park or visit a city the dangers are higher. 🤔
We feel safe in Spain and other countries we have visited, taking the same precautions and enjoying what we have, looking around and seeing how people are behaving in these difficult times. 😁 Bob.
