HereThis may seem daft, but ignoring staying at home is there a more 'sensible' place to go for winter than Spain in the current situation where you can enjoy milder weather?

A bit 'expensive' to get the MH there though and impossible seeing as we don't do ferries! Here
Pool cold but the med is still ok for me in winter.Mind you on a couple of sites we have used in the winter the outside pools are heated BUSBY.Did you try the pool?
Defibrillator on standby
Each to their own
Not worth going anyway,,BUSBY.A bit 'expensive' to get the MH there though and impossible seeing as we don't do ferries!
Just checked with them, no good for Spain as the FCO say only essential travel to that country.
I already said my mistake. Don’t rub it in.and did you check the tab to pay the extra £10 which gave you cover like i mentioned earlier
Yes Carolyn I understand you but if you were to start feeling ill or they decide to lockdown and not be allowed off campsite, then it’s only a 2 day drive back home. Lynn and I are still contemplating what to do, but if we wait another 3 weeks we may have a better idea, according to the experts it will be very bad again sooner rather than later, that will help us to decide. Not this year. If Nick or I fall ill with Covid 19 I want to be in the UK where I understand the system. I am risk averse where health is concerned. If we’re suddenly locked down again we have a nice big house in a big garden in the safest part of the country. We only have a PVC so lockdown on a campsite in Spain only allowed out to a single supermarket would be grim.
As a retired doctor I don’t think it’s a good idea driving feeling ill with a temperature of over 38 degrees centigrade and certainly would prefer that other people didn’t do it either! It’s madness on a number of levels.Yes Carolyn I understand you but if you were to start feeling ill or they decide to lockdown and not be allowed off campsite, then it’s only a 2 day drive back home. They did allow people to travel home when they locked down last time Jim, so I don’t see it being any different, but anything could happen I suppose.Ukbandit That depends if the Spanish don't close their borders with France or vice versa. Otherwise you are stuck in Spain, in your van.
Are we not just a few weeks behind Spain, therefore shortly being in the U.K. will be the same as Spain now. This may seem daft, but ignoring staying at home is there a more 'sensible' place to go for winter than Spain in the current situation where you can enjoy milder weather?
I did ask the question before I knew about today's briefing! Are we not just a few weeks behind Spain, therefore shortly being in the U.K. will be the same as Spain now.
I think it’s much easier to social distance in a country the size of Spain also I’m now in my motorhome by myself whereas if I was home in the U.K. I would be in the same house as my 3 daughters who are at work mixing with other people then coming home with perhaps the virus.
If you are showing symptoms then you are supposed to self isolate where you are, it would be socially irresponsible to knowingly drive back whilst ill. On another thread everyone is saying how stupid the couple were to travel from London to Scotland after a positive test, I don’t see what you are proposing is any differentAs a retired doctor I don’t think it’s a good idea driving feeling ill with a temperature of over 38 degrees centigrade and certainly would prefer that other people didn’t do it either! I am not proposing it , I am the one saying it would be madness. I was responding to someone else saying that that if you started to feel ill you could drive home in 2 days. I think they are the ones who should be in receipt of your lecture on what to do if you are ill. I am fully aware of what to do in case of feeling ill with suspected Covid19 or anything else for that matter. Perhaps you have quoted the wrong post as mine is very clear. If you are showing symptoms then you are supposed to self isolate where you are, it would be socially irresponsible to knowingly drive back whilst ill. Sorry, I didn’t mean you were the one proposing it, it was the ones that you were responding to. The quote button doesn’t work quite how I thought it did. Or did they mean if one of you took ill the other one could drive him or her home in a couple of days,,BUSBYI am not proposing it , I am the one saying it would be madness. Where are you?BUSBY.I didn’t read the following posts as I was too busy driving through France sunday & yesterday to get to Spain where we are now so sorry if you though I was rubbing it in.
Only been here less than 24 hours and we already know that if stick we to the rules we’ll be so much safer here than in the UK where their are no rules regarding social distancing when it comes to people’s mentality.
Our site atm is less than half full and according to the rest they are all the same, I suppose we’ll find out in the coming weeks

Where are you?BUSBY.
Couple of hours north of you near Avignon.we are in Roses mate more or less the first place when you cross the border, it’s one of our favourite places tbh, still very spanish with a lovely old part as well as a lovely sweeping bay around the beach, the sea as I type this is like a lake, very calm and very inviting.
Suns out bars/restaurants open all along the promenade
We spend a week or so at each resort for 5 weeks ending up in Benidorm for the winter and beyond
Where are you if I may ask

Was contemplating moving south this mor ing when it was raining here but the sun is out now.Was thinking Sarlata Because they are open into November. Was there a couple of years ago..Don't want to go too far south because we need to be home end of October/very early Nov.
Of course if you are only prepared to stay on places for free, then yes Portugal is now less well served and the police are actively moving vans on.
Get the lottery on, you'r a winner already...Cripes... didn't know this... they haven't got around to me yet!

They would also be isolating. Trying to drive home if you suspect covid would be one of the most stupid selfish things to do. Hopefully the fine would be huge. It would also if it became publicised likely result in all motorhomers being very unwelcome.Or did they mean if one of you took ill the other one could drive him or her home in a couple of days,,BUSBY

I left Spain end of March and a very enjoyable steady ride through France 4 stopovers and no hassle,I dont understand why some feel the need to frantically drive home. On a plus I thought the Spanish campsite I was on was brilliant in the handling of the pandemic. We left Spain at the end of February. Friends of ours hung on until mid-March and had to frantically drive through France to make the tunnel. Some other friends on the same site stayed too long and ended up confined to the campsite with no pool, no shower blocks open and only one person allowed to leave site once a day to go to the nearest shop (not the nearest supermarket) for food. They didn’t get home until mid-May.
It’s not just the warm sun we go to Spain in Winter for, but for socialising and cycling. So it’s stay at home for us this Winter. Gary
But they would be isolating in the van..If they only stop for self service fuel and use the tunnel what threat are they to anyone?BUSBY.They would also be isolating. I read on another forum that Portugese police mounted a huge operation a couple of weeks ago..large fines were issued to over a hundred motorhomes..Mainly on The Algarve but also up the coast to Lisbon.Wild camping seems taboo at the moment.BUSBY.I'm wondering from where, and when, you got your information about the police "actively" moving folk on...
