What have you fixed on your motorhome this week?

Replaced the straps to stop the wheels moving on my bike rack.
It's an Omni rack and now Thule have taken over them, I've had to source Thule straps.
I found a website which showed the Omni parts diagram and part numbers so ordered from that.
When they came, they were Thule and not the same.
The Omni version were screwed onto the rack. The Thule version are an expensive toe clip strap.
Lets see if the Thule last as long as the Omni ones did.

Decided to spray the underneath with another coat of Waxoil

Amazes me just how much you can get on yourself?

The key on our Fiamma Safe Lock, (You know, the one that swivels to cross the Hab. door opening) decided to go on strike half way through it's Lock/Unlock cycle.

Fortunately the fixture was in the unlocked position so it was merely a question of removing the item from the door jamb and removing the lock barrel.

A call to Johns Cross on Tuesday, resulted in a shiny new lock and two keys arriving today.

With MHF Discount, (thank you Johns Cross) Total cost £23.50

Update on purchase of said barrel.

The part arrived two days after ordering it and was a doddle to fit.

I would recommend anyone with the 'old'? round type key to consider changing the mechanism for the new lock.
The key feels to be a quality product and far more secure and 'pickproof' than the original model.

I’ve had a problem with the bathroom sink tap micro switch which has a broken wire. I failed to get the tap apart, a copy of a Reich I think.
We had to use the bypass switch I had fitted last time the wire broke for a month and half.
So I’ve now fitted a Whale pressure switch in the water fed pipe , so no more broken wire problems.

That's a good idea and fix. Did you pick up the 12v for the switch from the pump lead? Would like to do similar as had to change tap switches 3 or 4 times on past Hymers.

Yes, I took the 12volt pump fed to to the switch and then back to the pump, also I linked out one of the micro switch wires, I did this because that’s how somebody on F/b Hymer group had done theirs.
This is the switch I bought, but I managed to get one for £21

The only thing I’ve noticed is the occasionally it’s gave a pulse on the pump. Also if you had a leak from the tap or pipe work the pump would run, good or bad I’m not sure.

Not me but my neighbour who is a vehicle valeter is giving Daisy a good seeing to with Bobby Dazler for me

Hi again Manic,
When you say you "linked out" one of the micro switch wires does that mean you added a switch? If so, is that just a switch on the live feed? Info would be appreciated. Thanks

No I put a wire that links out the micro switch ( the same as switch being on permanently, if that makes sense)
I see Whale do a surge thing that may help with the pump occasionally having a little pump.

Do you have to do that if you fit the whale pressure switch or is it an alternative?
I think you could just wire in place of micro switch, I did it the way I did because it was a proven method.
I’m not going to both with surge thing.

Just replaced the Fiat radio with a cheap Chinese Apple CarPlay compliant double din smart radio. so far seems to do the business. Does not have digital radio only FM but then we do not use the radio much. It was the CarPlay sat nave issue that impressed me when we borrowed my son's Volvo which had a Sony smart radio.

Removed the Portuguese Rubis Gas bottle and regulator (30 m bar) from my "new to me" old Fiat Burstner. Then I bought various bits of pipe and fittings and, after modifications, fitted my Gaslow bottle and 37 m bar regulator into the locker.

Now all 4 gas items work perfectly given there is the correct pressure in the system.

Gaslow filler point to be fitted in due course...

JJ

I need to replace my drivers side electric wing mirror on our 2019 Fiat Ducato, plenty of info around for the task and have I released the mirror unit (nowt repairable complete write off).
I am now ready to purchase a replacement unit.
It just occurred can I upgrade to a power folding unit.
Any comments gratefully received.
I have posted this in Tech/Mech General as well.

Don't know about "fixed" (yet) but managed to forget that output from a USB socket is 5 volts, not the 12v I had the LED strip light controller connected to. The lights were "brilliant" for about 10 secs before the controller melted!

Fortunately the LED strip itself wasn't damaged - checked it with another controller on 5v - and today good old Amazon has delivered a couple of replacement 12v controllers! Will try it again!

"Fixed" the misreading grey tank reading by getting the probe out for a good clean.I would post a pic, but don't want anyone to lose their lunch. Cleaned the tank out with some vinegar and warm water as it was vile in their. Levels now reading correctly with a nice clean grey tank to boot.

I got fed up with the micro switch wires breaking so I fitted a Shurflo pressure pump. No switches to break and much better water pressure.
Not keen on those Whale switches had bad experances with them in caravans.

Found cause of rattle, hinged kitchen worktop extension, loose so today's job.
