what did you fix today

I've just converted an old ZX Spectrum computer to composite output so it works on any modern TV. Breathtakingly simple - 10 minutes with a soldering iron, a short piece of wire, a pair of tweezers and bugger all knowledge of electronics. I found out how on the interweb.

An old strimmer that my son-in-law was throwing out as it didn't work. Spliced the broken live wire back together and now it works fine.

Think I will have to reduce the Grand Kids pocket money with such profligacy.

Had to fit my spare pump. My presumably original pump developed a bulge then died (Hymer with weird twin pump).

worked on the pizza oven made the brick arch for the front not as easy as it sounds
bill

Finally replaced the roof of the carport (had the sheeting for over a year!), put new timbers up and fixed most of the sheeting, just gotta do some finishing off tomorrow. :)

Finally finished fitting new kitchen doors, all 18 of them including integrated fridge-freezer, easy? no way, the hinge holes on the new doors were at different centres from the old, so had to reposition them on the cabinets, also couldn't get drawer fronts to match, so altered from 4 equal draws to 1 small and 2 large ones, that was tricky, but worked out fine. For the fridge-freezer we had to re-drill the doors with the big holes as they were different to, did this with the dremel and a narrow chisel. Very pleased with the result and so is Jen, who helped a lot .
Cheers, Dave(y)

Next project, 2 sets of drawers and bedsides from Ikea.......

fixed my old kayak so I can go paddling with my 12 year old grand son he thinks it will keep me from thinking abut the weeman bless him
we miss him so much :(

great to see you posting again Bill...hope things get better for you

Fitted new locks to outhouses, set up 4 cloud security cameras around the house, a token gesture to the insurance company should we be broken in to whilst on our trip. Would never have dreamed of doing these things a few short years ago, is it the world or just me in my old age?

Today I fixed a bolt on the inner front door because somebody was walking round the side of the house and then disappeared .... didn't knock or anything, and it scared me. :(

Started erecting a new field shelter for my horses.

Bill, what's happened to little fella? :(

Climbed on the roof and fixed a solar cable clip

Then decided to clean the roof at the same time.....an hour later a sparkly clean roof.....only cleaning the roof had made the sides rather dirty, soooooo 3 hours later and a sparkly clean motorhome :roflmto: Even did the satellite dish :party3:

Re attached a she.f to the wall.
It is a dot and dab plasterboard wall and the shelf was put up to hold ornaments and the like.
The other arf then decided she would use it for half a tonne of reference books and sewing magazines.
Now I have had to use 4" wall anchors to make sure they go right into the block work (after patching up the holes in the plasterboard of course)
I couldn't move the shelf brackets because the shelf lines up with two others. Strict rules have been laid down about how much weight can be carried by shelves.

Today I went to the bank to sort out the scammer problem re money for computer games. . . . . . . and I am now starting on the photos for Malvern to make me smile.

2.4mtr Window out, wall out, 2.4 mtr Ranchslider (sliding doors)
in
Timber arrives tomorrow for Deck

"darlin'" happy(y)

Had to replace the electric shower bought a new one and fitted it only to find out that it wasn't the shower gone wrong it was the wireing in the pull switch shorting out so had to put a new switch on.
Expensive switch eh? Still I have got a spare shower.

Making the sheets into fitted ones for thev an. A right pain as the twin beds have 4 mattresses including the centre bit, wouldn't be so bad, but having to do 2 sets as 'er indoors won't use the same ones for 7 weeks.
Why do we always do these things at the last minute, ferry first thing Tuesday.

Just hope she doesn't enter me for the Sewing Bee.:)

Well done you! Got a pattern?

A pattern! Don't be silly just layed the mattresses on the sheets cut them 10" larger all round (mattress 5" deep), cut out the corners at right angles sewed each corner together and overlocked them, then folded a and sewed a hem all round large enough to thread the elastic through.
To get the idea just Google "how to make fitted sheets " that's what I did.

fixed two water bottles. put new handles on them using string and bits of waterhose.

Managed to get the shared drive running on the network in the new bungalow. It's running fine on the MacBook Pro but not on the Windows XP laptop for some reason. Router is the same, same network name and credentials. All H/W the same, just unplugged from the last house and plugged in at the new.
strange.
but at least the MacBook is working which is the main thing as I am ditching all the Windows stuff.
