Just found this it is the only reference to a payload.
mine has a different size engine a 2.3
but most of everything else is the same..View attachment 591495
Swifts website used to let you download the manual/handbook for older Van's....it used to contain the wiring diagram and specs for your chosen years models, bed sizes, van dimensions, micro, etc
I have the ones downloaded for my year but it's an 02/03 model and swift did your van 03/04
Someone must have swifts idea of your weights somewhere on the web

Mine is the 600B. The B denotes bunk beds. And has 4 fixed seat belts including the cab as near as this gets is the 600s.
s denotes shower large area to the rear.

Anyone know if it's possible to up-plate a 3850kg Ducato light chassis? I'm assuming it would be more than a paper exercise given that this is the max on a light chassis.

What year? I didn't think you could get to 3850 on the light

Fairly certain with the light you are limited to 3850.

I’m away on 1st june, hoping it would be back by then👍
Often comes back in a couple of weeks but it's getting then to put it right that takes ages, 90% of the one they do they don't change the MAM.

I’ll put a covering letter in with it👍

I’ve heard from a few people that you can go to 4ton with uprated front springs from 3850 with the wheels tyres and rear air assist, don’t shoot the messenger I’m not clued up on these things!

Actually thinking about it now I don't know about the Fiat chassis but with the Al-Ko light you can uprate the rear to 2240 with air & if 15" wheels higher load rating tyres, that with the front at 1850 would give 4090.

S.V. Tech got me from 3500kg to 3700kg. VWE, got me from 3700,to 4090 KG. I did need a tyre upgrade [1120kg load, To give a back axle of 2240kg + Air bags ],1850 kg front axle. So in theory you could have another 240kg waiting to be exploited. Tyres are going to cost you £ 600.00 approx.. Air bags £350.00 self fitted, approx. LVE £ 190.00, or so . Ergo £4.75 approx. per KG. 🤷‍♂️
Mike.

Price per KG to get the O.P. from 3850 kg, up to the vans possible upper limit of 4090KG. It was really a reflective question that only the O.P.s circumstances would give the answer to.

Funny way of looking at it.

No price can be put on being able to carry more junk.

I reckon I could throw out well over 50kg of stuff from my van and not miss it but why bother we you have loads of payload.

Is this of any use?

Fixed bed.version. I don’t think there were a lot of the 600B versions made ours is numbered 3362 so that was 2003 I have no idea how many are still about never seen the same one.

Suspension air bags fitted and now under test.

I have already noticed there is nowhere near as much movement now when entering or moving about.

I did while fitting them add some clear plastic tube on the air hose where it is likely to tough anything and had to allow a bit of tubing for the suspension to bounce .

it’s not as easy as it looked to fit them there were a few small bolts on the top that were hard to line up but when one went in the other was not too far out.

the hardest part was removing the nuts from the u bolts.
still done now .
back to fitting the hot water heater and plumbing..

Well done, I used corrugated split tubing as a protective sleeve. I should have referred you to my post on the subject. I found it easiest to attached a short piece of tube initially, with a valve fitted on the end.You can then compress the bag, and it will hold deflated on the schrader, then you can align the bolts and let the air back in a couple of mm at a time.
Where did you locate the schraders?
Mike.

not Fully understanding what a schrader Is if it’s where the pump connects to the pressure gauge it’s inside behind the drivers seat. there Is a tee that joins the two bags and the filling pipe and that was wax oliled to stop any corrosion. The other two connections as you can see come from the bottom of the bags.
where the air tube passed close to or over anything is was placed in a tube to prevent chaffing all the air Ines were fixed to the underside using plastic. C clips and screwed using stainless steel screws.
it’s a neat job viewed from the underside and well clipped.

Down to the weigh bridge next week the cost here well the closest to me for three weighs thats front axel total weight and rear axel comes to £ 42.50. But before we go we will be fully loaded hopefully with everything we need if we miss anything we’re just have to add later.

Ah, OK different system to mine, I opted for a non compressor system and monitor the pressure on a the tyre pressure monitoring system.
I terminated the top up schraders valves [ same as a tyre valve ] in the garage area.
Mike.

I see no mine can be inflated both up and down on site with a small high pressure mini pump that runs off a cigar lighter socket.

my thinking was when returning from a trip I would have dumped near on all the water and waste and food stocks would be lower so I might have to make the suspension just a little softer.

Water is 1KG per ltr. So you can work that one out without the bother of adding. Diesel is 0.832 grammes p/l.

Yes, nice one. I have a socket in the garage so can add the compressor at a later date, if I get peed off with, altering the pressures.
