Up plating

We’re expecting under 3700 more than that then it means spend more money I guess.

Rather than write it all out again………

and we should be able to work out the weight of anything we missed to add to the weight.
The air bags are a good idea.
If I understand correctly, from the figures in your earlier post you would increase your rear axle limit by 100kg to 2000kg. If you used it to the max you would then have to ensure the front axle did not exceed 1700kg max or you would be over the gross 3700.
So whatever you add after weighing you have to be a bit careful where in the MH you put it, for instance if you put weight behind the rear axle it could possibly remove weight from the front and so on, and on...
Hopefully you will find you have plenty of leeway anyway.

You don’t want to know, bloody carthagos:doh:
Let’s just say I’ll have to leave Mrs Westy at home when I set off for Croatia in June, in fact she’ll have to stay out of the van forever:whistle2:
Come on then let's have figures.

I think it's a Swift Sundance coachbuilt not a Sunlight PVC

We don’t have a great deal of stuff it’s mainly what’s fitted plus what we have fitted and a full water tank.

when I am sorted I will get the weighing detail and post here.

Come on then let's have figures.
Ok
Me inside (no jokes please)
Full diesel
Full gas
Full water (170l)
Odds sods and a few tools
Spare wheel
Crate of beer
1 fold up alloy bike
2 Isabella’s
Microwave
Food

No wife
No clothes
No dog
No 2nd bike
No washing machine

Front axle 1910kg
Rear axle 2550kg

These are the averages of two weighbridges but the gross was the same on both🤷‍♂️

Are you going to have to put air on the rear or has it already got it?

Having met you I won't embarrass you, when are you starting the diet?

Yes it’s got full rear air.

I don’t think me losing a few lbs is gonna achieve anything:rofl:

Just giving mine as an example. I know the base vehicle is different but just giving van content as a guide when I weighed mine. (y)

The cumulative effects of " just in case items " can soon result in the the other affect of " oh bugger".
Having driven a van without air bags, I'd say they are good idea, even if you don't need the extra payload they offer, the van is just nicer to drive and more sure footed on the road.

When we bought our motor home we knew nothing about overweights we thought you bought it filled it with whatever and went away. Your driving licence allowed it.
as I would imagine many others had done and will do.

a motorhome was for using . Then you look on the forum and find out so much more.
about what you need to take and then weights that I would have thought was nothing to even think about as I was sure that’s what a Moho was designed for.

now having to fit suspension air bags and get replaced as there is No way I could stay legal using it as intended.
if it was new and I was not aware of this prior to buying or was not informed by the seller I would have sued them both the company and the sales person under non disclosure and seems I would have had a good chance of winning so I have been told by a person that does this work for a living.

it’s time the Moho industry started to label the plates with more details correctly. As far as I am aware a caravan has a plate that states unladen weight and max loaded weight.

if the motor homes were correctly plated with all the details including unladen and laden and stated you may have to do other works and expense to use them I guess caravans would be the better sellers.

seems a motorhome does not. Unless it’s a monster home then I guess weight is not an issue
they are sale and sold so as anyone with a driving licence can legally drive and own one. But you can’t carry anything in it
and possibly not fill the fuel tank to the max.

lucky for me I am in a financial position to address these matters. Others may not be so lucky. It is certainly something I would be mentioning to any one thinking about a mo ho.

that’s the rant over with.

onwards and upwards

if I have forgotten anything I will add it to the weight..
Table & chairs for sitting outside, spare wheel, cutlery, crockery, bedding, books, allow 10-20kg for fresh food, beer & wine.

Yes and all of them apart from beer and wine.

One done Rain stops play. Shame really I was just getting in to the swing of laying on the concrete and banging my head on just about everything .
then trying to slither out from underneath while getting caught up on everything including the jack.
all good fun and I might get to have another go tomorrow if it does not rain.

Nobody ever checks the max weight for estate cars, a lot of saloon/hatchback cars have a weight limit for the boot, you will rarely see anyone weigh anything before they chuck it on the roofrack and I would guess trailers are never weighed by owners......caravans maybe

It seems the intelligent part of the motorhoming community are trying to stay legal but we have all seen motorhomes well overweight

That’s funny as I was just about to post the same thing about cars not vans or motorhomes.

So when we’ve all uplated, how long does it take the dvla to return the V5 (hopefully all the right weights on) I’m sending mine in next week to go to 5 tons.

One month per ton. Only joking. I would have thought it would be about the same time as a replacement log book.
but we’re talking dvla so who knows.

If you get it back correct within 4 months you will be doing well in normal times. At the moment add a few months.

Make sure you send a covering letter telling them the MAM as well as the Revenue weight needs to be updated.

4 months I'm booked on the train heading South April 20th I sent everything off last week. I'll have to plead ignorance if stopped and asked for log book, although I did take a copy of it before I sent it to DVLA

That’s real poor service. What or whom can they blame now for delays. Brexit. Covid and a conflict or just they are on holiday. Strike. A go slow fuel shortage. Or just can’t be bothered.

Anything out of the norm gets put in a pile and left until someone can be bothered or they loose it.

Or the person that deals with it and there is nobody else that can do the job.

or it in the pile to do and they have now left that employment.
