THIS week I bought

Just ordered on of these.

The stop light came on on my van and the temperature light. Just before a local garage. So I coasted in and stopped. Turned out all my coolant had leaked out.
Long story, and now I carry a 5 Litre can of coolant and check before setting off each time. One trip no loss of coolant the next I loose a litre.

So buying this, so I can pressurise the system and see where it is leaking from.

That's a lot of kit for -£7, I wonder how robust it is? Keep us informed please. 👍

I think you've read the add wrong the -£7 is for the fluid at the top! :giggle:

It is less than it would cost me to take it to a mechanic to do.

That is how I am evaluating the cost of things now. Work out how much the mechanic would cost me.
Calculate my hourly rate and the cost of the tool. If it is lower for me to do myself, buy the tool and do it.

I also recently bought these.

and

They have already saved me £100's

I have most of those under my work bench. They might be a bit dusty as they haven't moved in about 45 years!
Same here and don't like the ball joint fork as they often damage the gaiter and the clamp type are awkward to use...a good crack with the hammer usually works tho 😀

Did the first one with lump hammer and pry bar. took ages.

I am not bothered about the gator on the one I am removing though (y) :p

Milenco Mirror guards, black.

Yes I know having read various threads that Mirrorguards are very good but my previous Milenco were good, they were white and got badly stained/discoloured....... but have well protected the mirrors over last 5 years.

Mirrorguards were looking to cost £125-£140. I figured cost of 2 pairs of Milenco over say 10 years is a reasonable comparison.

Bought them via CMC CLUB shop with 10% discount =£67. 49.

Well there is some good news. I got paid today and went to order all the bits in my Amazon shopping cart and the pressure tester was missing. "No longer Available"
Did a search for alternatives and found exactly the same on for £50 :D

Saved a few quid there :) (y)
Would this do what you need, eg check the system.

It looks like the kit linked to is more for checking just the radiator, which would involve draining system.

I had a struggle with the bolts as well but figured out a way. Even made a custom tool. An alan key cut down so it would fit to the top bolt.

Might add those to my list :)

But this is next on my list I think.

Got carried away at NEC the other week, adjustable table arrived today. We're trying to reduce things we take with us.

Vango fold up table be left at home and we'll try this new one with fold up chairs. The ridge in fold was a nuisance. 👍😁

Been a busy week. Got LOADS of workshop tools to work on my van.
Impact screwdriver and bit set.
Brake Caliper Rewind kit.
Nuts, bolts and washer kits.

Are probably the highlights outside of my favourite purchase in a while..

I bought a Revolution Workshop Vac. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08PC6FMY3?tag=mhf04-21

Jeez that has some power in it and doesn't care what it sucks up. Cleaned my van and caravan in a few minutes.
Not suitable to carry with you, but jeez does it get the job done quick.

Just went to buy a BBQ today. Couldn't find any in the whole of Horncastle except for at the gardening centre on the outskirts. But JEEZ. £100 for a really tiny one.

Ended up driving to Louth B & Q. found 2. one at £60 and 1 at £100. The £100 one was a massive double with removable catch pans, lid and more.
Guess what. Out of stock, but I could go to Lincoln or Grimsby if I wanted it. I offered to buy the display model but he said no :(

So it was the £60 one sadly.

Just spent an hour assembling it. I wish the people who designed these flatpack/self assembly things were forced to assemble them 20 times before they were allowed to go into full production.

But tomorrow will be a proper BBQ day with charcoal and everything. Stocked up with burgers, sausages, bread rolls, onions, tomato sauce and beer.

Going to be a good one I hope.

Supposed to be raining in Horncastle tomorrow isn't it? 😱

"But tomorrow will be a proper BBQ day with charcoal and everything. Stocked up with burgers, sausages, bread rolls, onions, tomato sauce and beer."
You call that a "proper BBQ"? Burgers, sausages and onions could all be cooked in a frying pan. You'd have them cooked in half the time and you'd have a lot less cleaning up to do. Plus it wouldn't matter if it was raining 'cos you wouldn't get wet.
Having said that, I do love my barbecue and cook on it probably 4 or 5 nights per week at all times of the year.
When we brought our charcoal barbecue to New Zealand our neighbours laughed at us. I was very hurt and immediately followed the trend and bought a gas one. I give you 12-months and you'll switch to gas too.
