THIS week I bought

just dug 12x12x12" hole in my drive to accommodate one of these after last funster report of MH stolen off drive. Noticed rather large gap in discuss lock big enough for bolt cutters to get in so will fill this gap with steel washers. Damn good price BTW and nearby so collecting Tuesday :) Broken Link Removed

I doubt bolt cutters would have any effect on that, very very hard steel if ABUS?

Take about 30 secs with a cordless grinder with a lazer disc --Last yr my mates caravan got nicked as his neighbor watched on :D:( did not realize they were nicking it -He though they had a key and were taking it for a repair :sneaky:

Yes but in the picture above the steel that the shackle goes through is just mild so washers would not prevent 2 quick cuts with an 18 volt Makita

Andy these barstewards have amazing and probably stolen equipment to get round these problems and having said that at the 1/2 price I'm buying this bollard maybe the lock ain't that hardened:sick: I am also a bit concerned that the gap between the lock and the hollard could be sawn but maybe I'm just paranoid:eek:

its all about percentages. You put off as many as possible but in the end if it appears a challenge to them they will manage it. may they fester and rot.

Couple of possible ideas to deter theft when MH parked for any length of time, are they feasible? :

1. Fold up/down bollard in drive where practical.
2. Remove gear lever knob.
3. Remove windscreen wipers (at least make it difficult to steal if running!)
4. Anything else in engine which could be removed easily without disrupting alarms etc.?

Dig a trench & run a cable to the hole for post fitting . Fit a sensor/reed/pressure switch in base so that an alarm siren is set off whilst the post is out & can only be stopped with post back in. Simple :sneaky:

To really deter them fit 3 or 4 .

They work in my nieghbours garden which is why they're now targeting my raised beds.
Believe it or not there are cats that have bad hearing so a shovel is the only cure.
I'll do my best to be caring but there is a line!

Next door recently had a refurb. A mix of stone flags but lots of gravel. All the cats see it as a giant kitty litter :ROFLMAO:
we had a new house once that had a lot of pea gravel around it thoughtfully provided by the builder.
The gravel was a cat magnet.
Obviously preferable to felines than the litter tray.
We tried various electronic and other remedies from DIY shops but nothing kept the little buggers away.
On recommendation of a friend I found that sprinkling hot chilli powder was effective.
However effectiveness is ended as soon as it rains.
The best permanent remedy is carpet gripper with the points upwards covered by the gravel.

Silent mouse arrived today.
Sometimes I was worried about all the clicking going on while wifey is relaxing(considerate me) She never complained though.
I'm impressed with it, does the job

What a coincidence , Ralphs having a go at modifying his mouse tomorrow .
He's seen how to do it on tinternet.
It drives me mad. Clickerty click click.
I have said something .
I'm here on my silent ipad. Whilst he's clicking away. He doesn't like the mouse thing on his lap top , and prefers a proper mouse. If that doesn't work , I'm sure he'll be getting one of those.

Well as it's Sunday morning just been on evil bay and bought a fresh litre bottle of ACF50,this stuff is 4 times the price of Brandy!! but I have found it to be liquid gold.
Guess best description is WD40 on steroids, originally made for aircraft protection it's a strange purple liquid, you get a little pump bottle with a litre and it has many uses.
I use it predominantly for protecting the motorbikes used over winter, rust protection and removal,it will take off light surface rust, also protects electronics.
Busters bike shop have it for £33 including postage and used sparingly it lasts a long time in the workshop.

ACF 50 is primarily designed to arrest and prevent corrosion of aluminium. It is fantastic stuff but, be very careful with it, it rots rubber and soft plastic!
