Our Matt wasn't brave enough to race with the big old boys and young ladies.
But he appreciated having a go at the end.

We just about covered it with some great folks paying extra and others buying most of the "no shows". Poor form that about 20 booked to come and simply never showed, especially when there had been a reserve list. Those that came appear to have had a good time.It was a lovely weekend, BUT was jaws out of pocket by the non payers for the food?
Ditto from us.
I'm glad it all worked out in the end, how anyone has the brass neck to order food and not pay for it after the cut off date is beyond me.We just about covered it with some great folks paying extra and others buying most of the "no shows". The restrictions meant that evening activities were curtailed as the temperature dropped so quickly at sunset, but all daytime activities were very well supported. The weather really helped.
Another big thanks here to Jaws John & Mo, meanders Robin & Hilary, Larby, and all those who pitched in to make this year's Thetford Bash a great one, despite restrictions re social distancing etc, etc. A great effort by one and all.
Thanks to whoever for the smashing weather which really helped to make it all go so smoothly.
Cheers for now,
Jock & Rita.
Poor form indeed - how hard is it to phone/text/ or leave a message on the thread.Poor form that about 20 booked to come and simply never showed
And that’s the reason why I’ve started asking for full payment if there’s a reserve list. It’s downright rude and bad mannered not to say they aren’t coming, though there might be a few exceptions where something unexpectedly , emergency has turned but 20 I doubt all had emergencies. We just about covered it with some great folks paying extra and others buying most of the "no shows". Trouble is that full payment only ensures the organiser isn't out of pocket (and only if ancillary things aren't prebooked such as fish & chips) but it doesn't solve taking up a space that someone else might have enjoyed. And that’s the reason why I’ve started asking for full payment if there’s a reserve list. Cheeky! Why arnt all the vans lined up.
They look a bit higg a piggley
Cheeky!
You should also see that vans come in differing lengths. Plus a significant number had trailers or toads. And some of the top field was unusable as very boggy with an underground water problem.
Perhaps I should ask CAMC for a pile of pegs for next year.
I was really disappointed to miss out but after a very traumatic breakdown on a very busy motorway junction and then 2 days to get it repaired, I was just not in the frame of mind to let Kannon Fodda and cruiser drink my grog. Next time, I hopeTrouble is that full payment only ensures the organiser isn't out of pocket (and only if ancillary things aren't prebooked such as fish & chips) but it doesn't solve taking up a space that someone else might have enjoyed.
I realise that name & shame isn't really the MHF way... but I wonder if the regular & frequent rally organisers might not circulate the list of names of the no shows.
If they become unwelcome, they might get the message.
Unfortunately, the Thetford Bash is such good value some people wouldn't think twice about "losing" the £25 for 4 nights if a 'better' alternative comes up.
