Thetford Bash

John you are a good man and we only wish we could have been there.

WELL DONE everyone for the money raised. Fingers crossed we can make 2022.

This was our first Bash and hopefully not the last. Well organised and great entertainment. Thanks everyone that was involved in any way in the running of the meet especially John.

Sitting in Reading Services, eating a Cornish Pasty - (BTW - did you know this is the first services we hit when we leave Thetford!)

Anyhoo - just want to say thanks John Jaws meanders and Larby for organising and marshalling such a brilliant meet. Also thanks to John and Mo’s family for doing yet another sterling job - the auction, meals and ped races could not happen without them!

We had a fab time meeting old friends and new. The music was brilliant, as was meanders Robin’s 60s playlist which we heard whilst keeping warm in the van!

Thanks also to whoever donated the Brain training game - JaG Jean bought it, and we all had a good time yesterday afternoon, sitting in the sun and watching Funsters try to build a Zimmer frame - some quicker than others ..,.. (I think Cliff’s score was = brain dead) Absolutely hilarious!

We really hope you carry on running this one John, it really is a jewel in Fun’s crown.

Oh - and as I always say - Funsters, all your dog’s are lovely, but Dillon is, and always will be my favourite! 🥰

John Jaws
What you charge is such a small cost compared with similar events so, I believe, that ALL food & Fee's should be paid upfront, at the time of booking and the conformation email, should contains the gate code and what food has been paid for!
(Everything on one email will stop the need for extra tickets etc.)

IF people cannot attend, it should be their own responsibility to transfer their tickets etc. to other people wishing to attend (not your) but if they cannot, then their entrance money should go to the Air Ambulance Charity and food to the needy, Tramps and Hobo's for example. 😄

But seriously, none of us know when we will need their services of the Air Ambulance and we should all be VERY grateful for what they do!

Keep up the good work, it's much appreciated!

PS. The food was excellent!

Once again a great rally. It's sad that some individuals ordered food and failed to pay for it. I'm told that the short falls will have to be met by the charity donations. As far as I can see that equates to those that failed to pay are no better than someone stealing from a charity box. I will pay for two fish and chips that someone reneged on. John can I use the Thetford bash account to send money.

We were last away after a fears of an encampment arriving of others who live in and travel with caravans. :winky: Two guys from the Rugby club turned up to do some building work just as we were leaving. They assured me that they and the other members would 'quickly escort them off the premises' should they show up.

Can’t believe that! It seems to be a common problem, happening at Topsham after we left.

I told you the police had an agenda

Well one of the folk is def off the naughty step and I gave myself a good talking to !! They had been in touch and it was entirely my mistake

As I am working through all the piles of info and correlating the no shows, it seems some have left Fun, while others are still members but have not been seen since last year
Given the horror of 2020 who knows what may have happened
Yes, there are still those who do not answer emails or anything and are still very active members, but it is now quite a small number

I am waiting to hear from some still, but I am not holding my breath

Thanks to the generosity of folk like your self Peter ( xsparks ) , the bottom line is now well covered and while I really do genuinely appreciate your kind and generous offer there really is no need for another donation from you mate.. but it will be remembered believe me ... thank you (y)

Thanks for organising a great, long weekend John, we enjoyed it all especially the ped racing.......my body is still aching from it. Thanks also to all of the volunteers 👏.
We would like to pay for two Sunday dinners, we didn’t order or have them but somehow my name was added to the list..........how do I pay?
Thanks again to all.

Jaws PM sent, plus e-mail, hope you are recovering well after such a great hectic Bank Holiday Bash, Really missed being there this year, so pleased that it went well for all attending, and the weather was so much better than the week before for all to enjoy.
Les & TinaL

Back this afternoon from what must be one of the best years yet at the Thetford Bash. Shame about the few that mar the event by not paying.
Thank you to Jaws, Meanders, Larby, Madcaravanner the photographer and all the other helpers that helped to make it such a success. And what a fantastic amount raised too!
The Fish and Chips were delicious and HUGE fish. Enjoyed taking part in the Moped Racing, listening to the music and enjoying the company of old friends and new. Our Benji loved it there. He was frolicking around like a woolly lamb.
Yesterday was so, so funny with #cliffandger and friends with the Brain Teaser. All you had to do was build a Zimmer frame from just 38 pieces, with pictures attached. Expected timings were between one minute Genius to 13 minutes Brain Dead. Could not find a name for Cliff's 16 minutes.:rofl::rofl:. Jim won with just 5 minutes and 15 seconds.
See you all next year.

Due to a broken wrist we didn’t get to the bash this year, really disappointed, but wholeheartedly agree with pay up front for everything.
Contraiversatinol I admit but how about no refunding? If John can’t resell the meals he is covered and if he can Air Ambulance gains. WinWin

Why refund, pay up front if you can’t make ahh well 🤷‍♂️

A big thank you to John & Maureen (Broken Link Removed) for putting on this meet.Robin & Hillary ( meanders) for the work that they put in to make this meet so organised. The marshalls, musicians who made this meet so enjoyable.
As always great company.

Also a worthy of mention are Phil and helpers Gaston aires who put together the quiz making £60 on a chilly evening if my memory serves me correctly. And the crowd cried out for more when asked.
Do we have to return the cup? Too late for the wine though! :party2:

Thanks to all concerned (organisers, helpers and attendees) making this a most memorable bash.
Not one part that we did not enjoy.
Made new friends and met up with some old ones.
Beats other club rallies by a long shot.

Agree with all of above. We loved the rally. Very well organised. Thanks Robin and hilary, Jaws, Larby (who must of got fed up of me always asking what was happening next😆)
CANT WAIT TO PUT OUR NAMES DOWN FOR NEXT YEAR.
Grub was lovely.
Location fantastic for Sam our lab, he loved the forest and river walks.
So relaxing.
Met old friends from La Torretta Benidorm and lots of new friends.
Thanks again.

And the total has grown again thanks to kind generous members,,
I will update it later
Been playing at vegetating today but now up and as good as a good thing :-)

Just an update for all those who asked why I was limping badly

Turns out I have something called a bakers cyst on my knee.. which bakers do not get and its not a cyst !!!
Basically it is caused by fluid leaking from the knee joint... it causes swelling, a sharp pain behind the knee, and it feels like you have a stretched calf muscle
Most common causes are a sports injury or knocking it
If its a sports injury I must have been carrying it for about 40 years..last time I can remember any strenuous sport ! So I guess I banged it somewhere.. Any way, strapped it up and its already feeling better :-)

Shall I nip over with the battery drill and a small sharp drill bit 😊

You aint gonna believe it but about 45 years ago I did actually ( and by accident ! ( drill a 5mmhole in my right knee cap
I literally had to twist the drill out backward real slow !... There was a lot of blood and a bit of gristle involved !
