The resurrection of Doc, bringing a 20 year old neismann Bischoff Flair back to life after 12 years off road.

Ha ha, I tried 4 of them when my van was stuck, only managed to speak to one, he said a VW T4 based van was too big, the others didn't answer and didn't reply to voicemail.
I'm quite lucky as the 2 x lads I now use were contacted last Friday, turned up at ours on Monday at 15.30hrs, and gone by 16.50hrs, having fitted a new alternator and front brake pads. (y)

Northernraider. Tam, I appreciate how frustrating trying to get someone to bleed the brakes must be for you, especially on a Friday afternoon, but I don't think I'd be driving the Flair if I was concerned about it's braking efficiency. :(

A couple of years ago, I was concerned, as one press of the pedal felt soft, but another immediate single press seemed to give the pressure I was happy with. It turned out to be a faulty Brake Master cylinder, and once replaced and system bled, all has been fine since. (y)

Good luck getting yours sorted. :)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Yes I used to use one regularly when I was rallying.
It uses air pressure from a tyre rather than someone pumping the brakes so is an easy one man job.
Just start on the wheel furthest from the reservoir and work to the one nearest the reservoir.

You are moving too quickly, there are a few places in Wiltshire that friends in horse box conversions use but you had been and gone before I saw where you were.

And just pray that the bleed nipples come loose .
Plenty of plusgas and a good fitting spanner.

I don't really have a choice jock. I'm in a carpark in Wales I don't think I can stay here , I've yet to find anywhere else either so I've no choice but to move somewhere. I've found one garage so far that said they can do it but not till Tuesday and they're in Cardiff.

Or I could take it up to @chasers if he was sure that wouldn't be a problem

I just need to try and avoid long steep declines till I get the bleedin thing looked at .

I would have to be able to jack up the rear of the van and remove the 2 wheels either side to get near the bleed nipples. Not an easy job in a carpark somewhere.

And if anything should go wrong , snapped nipple etc etc then it's a recovery job with a big van and 4 dogs. So that's why I'm avoiding doing it myself .

Tam I suggested thar garage in skewen as I thought you were going to visit Jackie

Gave them a phone but no answer at the minute and voicemail box is full

Maybe having lunch so I'll try again later.

Loosing the will to live now. Its not even a hard job .
Just a thought Tam and pity it's Friday BUT have you tried any of the Council Depots that do heavy vehicle MOT's.

When I was in Surrey, I used to use one near Guildford with my Preserved vehicles.

I know it's a long shot and Guildfords no good for you BUT there must be others over the country? Good luck!

I have found a garage in Cardiff that can do it Tuesday morning. It seems the best I'm going to get at the minute. It does mean I have to find a couple of spots that probably won't be great to park up in till then but I don't have many options . I've sussed out a couple around Newport so I'm off to check one of those out just now. Popping in to lidl on my way past as my other van problem is the fridge doesn't get as cold at the bottom as the top and my milk keeps going off ... which is a pain in the arse .

I have the same fridge as you and I know it’s going to be hard not having a base but I copied Lenny HB idea and put a fan in the fridge and it worked brilliantly spreading the cold evenly through the fridge it’s always at 5° or less

You should be able to get a cable back out with the cable for the temp sensor.

Another smoke alarm tale. A few nights ago I woke up at 1am and could just about hear a smoke alarm. On investigation it was going off in our utility room. Happily it was a false alarm (spider maybe?)
Less good was the fact I only just heard it and neither my wife or my mother woke up! So I've invested in some rather expensive interlinked alarms from fireangel. If one goes off it activates the others too. So hopefully nobody will sleep through the next time!
During the amazon prime event this week there was 35% off these alarms.
Mine are on the mains circuit and linked, so if one goes off they all go off (y)

Not sure if you have tried these peeps

Tuesday not too bad to wait.

My friend stays at what was Wilko, Colchester Ave, Cardiff a few nights a week and has been for months and says there are a couple of vans there permanently.
It's the same location as Sainsbury's Colchester Ave but Wilko closed down but you can still access the Wilko part of the car park.
He's never had any problems there and he stays every weekend when he's home from work.
I don't know if that is any good for you ?

Cheers ill check thar out

If you want I can ring him and check that a bus your size will fit ie height ?
I just messaged him and there are no height restrictions.
He's actually a member on here but has only posted a couple of times.
That would be handy .

I've got a spot in Newport that'll hopefully do for tonight and a few places to check out tomorrow.

The garage is actually in Taff's Wells not Cardiff itself and there seems to be a couple of possibilities up there too. Not the most scenic places but any port in a storm as they say . As long as quiet and safe I'll manage till I get the brakes sorted out.

Yes I'd seen a few that had fitted fans inside , there was one for sale on here the other day. I'll see if uncle lenny can give me pointers and I'll get a fan delivered to his place as I'm popping in to see him 2nd November before I head over the water. The rest of the fridge seems to get cool no problem but the bottom part not so much. Never had any bother with older ones

My mate is there now.
He stays there Thursday, Friday and Saturday night then works away Sunday to Thursday.
He uses the "facilities" in Sainsbury's, there is a Greg's immediately across the road and a pub 100 yards away.
He's been doing it for months with no problems.

Taffs well, that’s where my gran and grandad lived, my dad’s mum and dad. 😂 Not important but no one ever mentions Taffs well. 😂👍

Jackie is off to Leicester for a long weekend with the girls. I'll see plenty of her later anyroad so I only really came to Wales to visit mackeellan. Then I've the scooter rack to deliver to near Stafford and I'll go to cannock chase forest with the dugs. Then who knows where next .

But I'll get up to brecon after the brakes are sorted . Be safer .
