The resurrection of Doc, bringing a 20 year old neismann Bischoff Flair back to life after 12 years off road.

I recall years ago on bikes with rubber fuel lines they could delaminate internally creating a flap in the line that acted as a non return valve. Well as it was blocking fuel flow it would be a non flow valve I guess lol.

Worth replacing the pipe from tank to genny?

The smoke alarm I got similar to yours has a magnetic base and a metal plate to stick to the wall /ceiling

It doesn't run from petrol can now either. It's not a problem with the tank .
Tam the Mikuni pumps were notorious for being weak when I was flying 2 stroke microlights, see if you can get an overhaul kit online, a real mikuni one mind no cheap Chinese crap! Have you replaced all the fuel lines in the system?
Alex

Pretty sure it’s a 4 stroke Honda engine. 🤭

Can you buy them separately only seem to be in 3 on amazon?
No sure, but I think I remember somewhere way back in this thread Tam saying that he found single units on eBay. May be wrong, but gotta be worth a look. 👍

All the talk about smoke alarms, I have the small ones in every room at home downstairs but just realised I don't have one in the MH, two fire extinguishers but no smoke alarms. I suppose I had this false sense of security that in such a small space I would smell the smoke straight away, even if I was asleep:unsure:

Another smoke alarm tale. A few nights ago I woke up at 1am and could just about hear a smoke alarm. On investigation it was going off in our utility room. Happily it was a false alarm (spider maybe?)
Less good was the fact I only just heard it and neither my wife or my mother woke up! So I've invested in some rather expensive interlinked alarms from fireangel. If one goes off it activates the others too. So hopefully nobody will sleep through the next time!
During the amazon prime event this week there was 35% off these alarms.

That's the make we have. Ours are hard wired into the mains with battery back up. They will need replacing next year. Replaced every 10 years and tested weekly.

Some say don't place a fire alarm near where you cook - isn't that one of the the most likely place a fire might start?

Leave something cooking, get distracted......it happens

There are different sensors for kitchens and other rooms that may normally see steam or small amounts of smoke, they trigger on heat not particles.

Morning

So I left Exeter yesterday morning after a wee dog walk ...few fulltimers parked there. I'm sure I've seen thar army truck " the midge" somewhere in Spain or Greece or summit ...

But after driving through a few lanes in the Mendip hills I experienced that same brake fade thing I got with moby. There was just very little braking there and the pedal went almost to the floor , didn't matter how much I pumped it. Very unerving , and then it came back a few minutes later and been OK since. Now I don't know if this is an iveco thing as it's only ever happened before with moby , never had it with other vans. I never touched the hydraulic side of the brakes I just changed the pads etc and cleaned it up.

Anyway as I said it was fine 10 minutes after so I continued on around Bath and on to Malmesbury to meet dave and Marsha on the campsite they've been living on .

They've got the caravan as their base and the old gypsy to travel in . They're heading off today to Greece n Turkey for 6 months .

So we had a walk in to town yesterday through very muddy fields, had a walk around and a coffee , lovely old town with traditional stone houses. Apparently this was once the capital and king athelstone lived here. I'm sure I saw in the vikings series it was formerly wessex in this area .. anyway a few photoes

Brake fluid absorbs water over time which will cause it to boil and loose viscosity thats why they advise changing every 5 years, as it’s been stood for a long time personally would get it changed to dot 6.

That's the first reason that sprung to my mind, but I thought Tam would have bleed them before starting his travels, wouldn't he?

As you say, 12yrs standing and no telling how long before, since it was done, is a very long time! 🤔

Aye its getting some bugger to do it on a van this size now.

Hi Tam. Which campsite are you staying at. Is it open all year?
Always looking for potential stopovers :giggle:

Haven't bled them as no previous issue with brakes fading etc . I just replaced pads front and back and cleaned everything up. I'll get fluid changed if I can find somewhere to do it

My mechanic pal and I did a complete fluid change between us, with him on the bleed ripples and me at the brake pedal, operating it slowly on command. ;)
After each wheel bleeding through to new fluid, he would top up the reservoir.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

You’ll probably only notice the brake fade on down hill braking, with the probable age of the fluid and weight of the van the fluid is braking down due to heat in the calliper itself,

If it was me, if you find someone, I would bleed the clutch also as it's going to be BADLY needing the same treatment.
(Probably NEVER been changed?) 🤔
