Northernraider You may be being too critical. The image in my avatar is my 26 year old roadster that had not been used for 9 years. Every rubber bush, the shocks and tyres were shagged. Shocks showed no leaks as the oil had drained over the years of being sat. All mounts ie engine, gearbox, exhaust hangers, diff, subframes, fuel tank had aged and were replaced. After changing them all there was still vibration when driving. Last week I put new round tyres on, no vibration. It was to be expected.
 
What throws me is on ebay you fill in a bit called your garage, i have all the details filled in for my van and it will then show me the parts that are supposed to be for my van. Some listing it will say yes others it says no .

But there are shocks listed for this both monroe van magnum but have different lengths yet both say they fit this van 🤔
Why not give Monroe a call.
 
Can you not get anything similar to Mercs for Iveco, where you have a build card and can cross reference the OEM numbers?
 
That’s why I like our Concorde, drives like a sports car if you want, so much power and goes up steep hills in 5th gear.

It was chipped by the owner in Germany, not sure which system but I’ve never had a Motorhome like it, Iveco 3 litre 2005 166bhp not sure what it is now though, but it only 6.48 metres so that will make a big difference.
I would say it’s more the weight that is important than the length.
 
Just back from launderette to uncle lennys ....I dunno I still get a bit vibration through steering wheel , steering wheel still makes a rubbing sound against the plastic cowling below it. Doesn't pull as much , wheel is better aligned but it still bumps and rattles and clunk's over every bump in the road , on a motorway its not a bad driving van but round town it just feels a bleeding chore at the minute .

Hopefully once back on the road over the water I'll feel better but honestly that drive just felt unpleasant.


Parked up on drive again on a different spot and just messaged distance from arch to wheel centre again and there's only 5mm of a difference now.



I really need someone else to have a drive of this to see if it's just me .
Just a thought, my defender 110 was stood for 3 months when we had our first European jolly, when we came back all was fine then I noticed the steering had an annoying squeak as if the steering was catching the plastic cowel behind it, steering seemed pretty heavy, thought power steering pump was on the way out as it didn’t happen all the time but also pulled slightly. Turned out that the uv joints on the steering column had started to seize up, two I could get to no problem with WD40 the third was right pain but after a good dosing of WD40 then some oil it all freed up, with standing so long have they started seizing up possibly?

Just read back and scotch mist mentioned stiff steering joints, must be worth a good a dosing of releasing fluid, just remember to cover Lennys drive 😂

I get the same on my Renault master, steering knuckle joints start to seize up every couple of years ,I have to use penetration oil to loosen them , at that point the steering doesn’t want to return to centre

Actually that might be a possibility.. .. I'll have a look at those
 
Take every boot off and re-grease maybe. Clean every joint with WD-40 and then when it's dry spray with copper grease or lithium grease. It's worth a try and a cheap enough thing to do with you being good on the spanners.
 
Tam I am hoping others with better memories will help us out here, but we did have a Fun Member mechanic with his own garage workshop and a great reputation who was a great source of help advice on everything relating to MH's
He hasnt posted for a while, so hope he is OK, I think his garage was up Norfolk/Suffolk way but could be wrong on that.:unsure:
Anyhoo he did a video on You Tube, showing the advantages/limitations of a "Chip Box" tuning set up, it was easy to fit in line with the existing wiring, and had a few settings/buttons on it to achieve the desired level of power. It was like most, small in size and fitted with a few cable ties under the bonnet.
I so annoyed with myself for not remebering his name, he did loads of useful maintenance & repair videos, even Thetford toilets.
Lets hope someone will know who I am talking about.🤞

PS: You will need two fan controllers, one for outside vent fans, set for arround 26/7C and one for the fridge internal fan with temp probe, otherwise it will be on all the time and not switch off when the fridge gets down to the desired temp setting.

Yeah uncle Lenny HB has all that sorted, parts all arrived yesterday, 2 controllers ,3 fans even 2 finger guards so I don't lose a digit reaching for the baby bells .

Hi Brian, Tam's is different as it has torsion bars for the front suspension rather than transverse leaf spring, his ride height adjustment is on the back end of the torsion bar.
 
Yes, I miss mine a hell of a lot, especially this time of year! 😭
I've never had the luxury , even when I used to do all my vw's it was outside on a driveway.... always wanted a nice garage/workshop but never materialised.

Thus, Calimero's syndrome is a contemporary phenomenon, which blames others for its failures, creating a climate of pessimism in the relationship of love, family, school, friendship, work, etc. plus old motorhomes that have not been used for 10 years.
 
Don't think it's that.
It's just that when you try to do everything you can to get a result and it becomes a PITA.
Seems that that great motorhome god (sorry Jim) in the sky is conspiring against you.
