Yeah he does seem a bit of a prat ...he was on phone to someone earlier telling how good a driver he wasDriver seems like bit of an arse. Let rip with your grey waste.
Looks like itLate night then Tam,, BUSBY.
No they are coming with me as theres another recovery truck waiting at the services for Toby to take it the next leg of the journeyWhat’s going to happen with the dogs when you go to collect the car, will they have to stay in the van.
Time to complain when you get back then.No they are coming with me as theres another recovery truck waiting at the services for Toby to take it the next leg of the journey
Truck just started up now so looks like we are off again
Bugger is scratching Toby along the bloody bushes I can here it
If they allowed it - it's not the worst option.8 hours so far and I think we have moved 20 -25 miles
I should just close blinds and go to bed let them take me home lol
Nasty little rattles aren't caused by the cam timing shifting. Most likely cover debris / alternator belt damage. Nothing you've said so far suggests a lengthy or expensive repair. Get it fixed & you'll be back where you are now in a week.Well the recovery truck is now here ...because of where I'm stopped we needed to move the van back and he got me to start it up which it did ....he doesn't think the cambelt is affected so I don't know .....there's a nasty rattle but he thinks that could be water pump or something
Loading it up now
Well from what I've seen from others posts it seems the norm these days ...I'd have never thought it was allowed to leave animals in the vehicle never mind people but others have said the sameIf they allowed it - it's not the worst option.
You've got all the facilities onboard for a comfortable couple of days
Cheaper too - no petrol costs for the hire car.
I'm hoping so ...personally I'd expect at least a misfire if belt had jumped etc but seems to start and rev fine ...rattles sound like some kind of bearing noise or belt flapping against metal ....won't know till the covers come off etc but everything crossed it's not internal damage , I'd assumed the garage would replace alternator belts etc in with the cambelt but possibly not ..Nasty little rattles aren't caused by the cam timing shifting. If the cambelt had shifted enough to mis-time the valves and/or cause any of them to hit a piston it would run like a bag of hammers - if it started at all. Loud metallic rattles are invariably outside the engine. Muffled metallic thumps come from inside. You're going to be really cross when it's fixed in an hour .I'm hoping so ...personally I'd expect at least a misfire if belt had jumped etc but seems to start and rev fine ...rattles sound like some kind of bearing noise or belt flapping against metal ....won't know till the covers come off etc but everything crossed it's not internal damage , I'd assumed the garage would replace alternator belts etc in with the cambelt but possibly not ..
Jeeso that's grim ...yeah I'm grateful it happened this side of the tunnel as I had enough trouble in France last year with brakes and tyres ...I could imagine this would be hellGutted for you mate , Only time will tell how bad it is , Our thoughts are with you , I think you were lucky it was on that side of the channel, Im broken down In lac Annecy near Grenoble in the French alps , auto gearbox stuck in 2nd gear , stuck on a aire now for 6 days , In total I’ve had 4 tow trucks out & still not moved an inch , Worse than useless, It’s not a hard recovery Just a whole lot of negativity, no sign of any change soon , think the wife will be on a plane home , I’ll have to stay & wait for The repair (same thing happened last September)
I`d think a hotel, dog friendly, is essential for tonight. Tam`s probably feeling pretty fried atm.Thinking of you Tam and can feel your frustration, as for an overnight hotel, that might well be a non-starter with tbe dogs.
Yeah that was my thinking ...the first guy did say he was erring on the side of caution ...the current guy doesn't seem bothered at all hence him getting me to start it etcIf the cambelt had shifted enough to mis-time the valves and/or cause any of them to hit a piston it would run like a bag of hammers - if it started at all. I'm just warm and sweaty to be honest ...not tired at the minute more fed upI`d think a hotel, dog friendly, is essential for tonight. Tam`s probably feeling pretty fried atm.
