Tam & Toby ~~Hunting Zorba

Not sure I'd want to do that on motorway services ?
Seems a very risky practice to ask you do
Given their performance so far you have no idea how long it will sit there
Don't think that the insurance company would be too impressed with that. The 'wrong' truck might pick up the van!

Yep I'm not impressed but the driver said that's what they do ....he has gone and no sign of taxi ...he wants me to take taxi there and come back to van to get stuff ....sod that I'm taking stuff with me

Not overly impressed with service to be honest that driver couldn't wait to ditch and run

My breakdown is included with my insurance.

Bloody fiasco though ...
Taxi just phoned he be here in 5 minutes apparently
I hope the taxi will take the dogs, or you are well shafted!!😤😤

We have greenflag via the c&mc. We lay for the MH and can then add other vehicles at £25 each. Daughter has used it after an accident but we've never needed it for caravan or MH.

Just seen whats happened, bugger 😱

Hope the taxi has arrived now. Bet we will all be checking in here until we know you are in a hotel for the night or in the hire car.

S**t happens Tam!! You'll look back on this in a couple of days with a wry smile (y)

When we were written off in Spain, the breakdown/repatriation, via AA Europe, was fantastic - with one exception!!

We couldn't cross National Borders with the hire car. We had to take the Spanish rental to Figueres and get a taxi across the border to France. AA had arranged 'large' vehicles as we were carrying a lot of stuff. A French Merc Vito taxi picked us and our stuff up at Figueres without delay. The driver helped load our stuff and took us over the border to the rental depot at Perpignan. Arrived there and found that the French office had 'inadvertantly' let the large car go and had a small hatchback for us.
Asked Merc driver to keep the meter running whilst we sorted out the car, but he had a another fare approach him so he started unloading our stuff onto the pavement. Stopped him doing it at one sliding door but he walked round to the other and started putting it on the road. Fortunately the French rental appeared so we blocked the Merc against the pavement whilst we tried to cram everything into a Kia Sportage.
There were a few hand gestures and Sacre Bleu's (or words to that effect) but we managed and then took time to set the mirrors etc before we set off.
Only blip in our whole week long journey home!

Stay safe Tam.

You're not going to believe this but he's brought me to Gatwick airport and I'm meant to be in Crawley ...

I googled the postcode enterprise told me as we seemed to be driving a lot

The red arrow was where I was meant to be going

So I thought we should be there soon ....10 minutes later I rechecked and we are here

His English is not the best ....he's arguing that it's Gatwick just like as did

Poor guy in enterprise is on 4 hours overtime

So now we are heading back to Crawley

You really could not make this up

Look out for my book next year ....it will be a best seller

I hope the taxi will take the dogs, or you are well shafted!!😤😤
He wasn't made aware of them and did start to complain but was basically warned not to go there as I'm now losing patience

Sorry for your troubles, We have found dog friendly rooms at Travelodge chain.
just a warning you may have trouble with car hire company as well with dogs.

Feeling your frustration buddy. Have a safe trip if you decide to head home. I think a travelodge or something like that & drive fresh tomorrow. Best wishes to you. Mum will be pleased to see the dogs!!!

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Was looking forward to following your trip. Hope you get it all sorted soon.

Well that's me back at mums ....I did stop a few times for coffee and I tried to sleep at one point but gave up after an hour of trying to get comfortable....I hate that feeling off falling asleep though when driving and I struggled a bit .

Need to phone AA now and see where Toby is

Thought you'd be in bed by now! Did you tell your mum you were coming back? Bet the dogs were glad to see her!

Glad you are safely home Tam. Many years ago I did fall asleep at the wheel of my horsebox.
Fortunately no other vehicles involved and although I wrote off the lorry the horse and two dogs on board escaped without injury.
It is NOT a risk worth taking.
