Tam & Toby ~~Hunting Zorba

Thought you'd be in bed by now! Did you tell your mum you were coming back? Bet the dogs were glad to see her!
Yeah I told her yesterday when I broke down ...dogs weren't too fussed lol just looking for food as they wouldn't eat in the car

Need to phone AA now and see where Toby is
This is where a tracker would be useful
[/QUOTE]
Yeah it would as AA pretty useless ...I just phoned and he said it was on its final leg and should be here soon ...then he said it's left Haywards heath ...then he said 6.30 tonight it should be here

Haywards heath isn't far from where I left it ...so not holding out hope of it being here at 6.30 ...

Tam

I was a bit anxious about your driving all night with no sleep and after a stressful day.

So I was most relieved to know you had made it safely. So are the dogs probably.

I hope you are in a deep sleep now. Don't worry about Toby he will arrive as and when, and you cannot do much till tomorrow.

Good luck that it is not a major repair.

Geoff

Glad to know you are home safe.
A few years ago I experienced nearly falling asleep at the wheel of my car coming back from a late finishing concert its frightening to say the least. You think you are okay but then you drift off and OMG. I pulled in to the next services and had a break and coffee. Learned the lesson and it is something I will never do again. So yes I too was a bit anxious when you said you were driving all night with no sleep.
Hope you get Toby home today and get it sorted quickly and its not too expensive.

If it was still at Hayward's Heath at 10:30am ish, a parking charge from the Service Station will be your next kick in the nuts. :(

and swiftly forwarded onto the breakdown company for payment should that happen as that would be their responsibility for it being there and not on a transporter for onward travel..

and while i think about it, did you say you're licence is due for renewal shortly, that'll be the photo as you're still a young 'un, with everything else on your plate to think about at the moment, don't forget to get that done, good job you noticed as you wouldn't want to be away without a current one..

glad you and the pups got home safe, and hopefully it won't be too long before you can set off on your adventures again..

Yeah it has and it's the photo but I saw online that due to covid it's extended

That said you can apparently apply on line and they will use your current passport photo to do it so I'll try that

My mate's wife just did hers online, new licence arrived without the C1 category.

Had about an hour nap on the sofa then took the dogs a walk ...Milo rolled in poo again lol so he's just had a bath again

Im planning to meet the van at the garage later and I'll stay in it in their carpark overnight ...partly for security and partly as it's easier than going up and bringing lots of stuff back to mums

That way I'll be there for garage opening in the morning and will see if I can guilt them in to at least checking it out tomorrow...if it's then a simple fix hopefully it can be done tomorrow or Tuesday...if it's a bigger job I'll empty out what I need and move in to mums till it's fixed.

Photo licence has a life span , don't know what it is maybe 10 years, but definitely remember doing mine a couple of times but it is dead easy in post office, they have like a photo booth and it does it all in there.

How come your licence expires before you are 70?

My mate's wife just did hers online, new licence arrived without the C1 category.

it's the photo, they need renewing every ten years to keep the licence valid..

Yes photo licences are only valid for 10 years. Di it online if you have a valid passport photo is is much easier and quicker. Got mine back within a week despite covid.

Aye but when you look online it says long delays processing it but doing it online is quicker if you have a valid passport as they just use that photo.
My passport was renewed in 2018 so it's fairly recent photo so that might be the best move ...if van can be fixed quick I'm hoping to get off again

But I did see on gov site it says if due to expire between February 2020 and December then it's extended for 12 months

Yes x it says it’s extended here.
Yes I saw that yesterday ...SO I'm not sure if it's best to apply for new one now and hope it arrives quick OR to just keep that screenshot from DVLA on my phone and if for any reason I have probs abroad with licence I can show them that

Wonder if it sort of suspends your old licence when you apply online, & you‘d then have to wait for them to post out your new one?

Well that plan has been scuppered I just phoned AA again to ask them to have the driver phone me when nearby and the guy on phone says it's still at M40 services Warwickshire and due to be picked up at 8.40 this evening and delivered tomorrow morning ...it would seem that not 2 people from the AA can give you the same information
He's claiming I was advised of that .....no I wasn't
He also said because I abandoned the vehicle with the keys that they prioritize those stranded with vehicle ....eh I didn't feel like a priority yesterday and I didn't abandon vehicle I was instructed to leave it

I'm not happy about my motorhome with all my possessions being left in a services with the keys to be honest ....I'm surprised that my insurance company is ok with that
If I left it with keys it wouldn't be covered so how do they get away with it ...

Wasnt meaning the normal take your phot booth, in uttoxeter there is another one at the side of it, and it's online and does your photo and the form in one go then sends your license.
Presume they have them in other po s

If I wanted to steal a motorhome I'd just drive around various services and look for keys tie wrapped to a spring.

Sounds a ridiculous practice.
Said that to my lad this morning, not necessarily just mhs though, presumably they do the same with all vehicles, get yourself a low loader just park up for a couple of hours and see what turns up.

Applied for my licence on line. They used passport details (which was renewed in 2018). New licence arrived in less than a week.
