Tam & Toby ~~Hunting Zorba

Hi Tam

Is your cruise control standard or a retro fit? I am very jealous, as I would love it on mine. Much better for long journeys, especially on Spanish roads.

Any recommendations would be welcome.

Karen
It's a retrofit item that was on the van when I bought it. I believe it was fitted by Dave Newell. It works well but the positioning is a bit off on mine.

It's handy for motorways though when you're behind folk that can hold their speed

Well we left witshire around 10.30am and I'm now not far from Lenny HB at the public weighbridge....front axle 1720kg rear axle 2200kg so im well below 3900kg but right on the limit for rear end .. which is surprising as I no longer have the bike rack and bike etc
Going to have lunch now then I'll head to Lenny's in a couple of hours

Oh I forgot to say the satnavs do seem to be pretty much agreeing now although the TomTom does still try to take me on motorways more and will try to get you to double back even if there's another route ahead which is annoying ...

I need to change the unit settings on the xcody as it's in km and the Tom Tom is in miles drives you nuts after a while

I always have at least two satnavs going, though usually with the sound off. They all seem to throw the odd wobbly so a second opinion is always welcome. I no longer have a tomtom as it conked out but found it hated rerouting, so if you went off its planned route, you would have 'turn around when possible' for the next 20miles even though there was a perfectly good alternative ahead.
Actually free Google maps takes some beating even though it doesn't take account of low bridges etc.

Yes I used to always have the sound off but have missed junctions in the past as a result of daydreaming ....it does mean the dash is a bit more busy but I've found it handy having the 2 as I can use the Tom Tom to divert for gas, diesel , food etc and leave the other on existing route to pick up after.

Tam, may have misunderstood your post but 1720 and 2200 is 3920?

Lenny is off doing a little shopping and we are down the beach for a walk ....lovely weather down here
You can't even leave the dogs behind, you still be 10kg over
I can only assume the weighbridge is out lol.

I weighed in at 3740 in Portugal last year and 3680 at the mot garage in may or June

I've lost the bike rack, bike , lots of stuff out the garage and extra clothes etc since then ...that one does give a weight for each axle but I didn't get a combined weight slim not sure ....but I can't be at 3920 with lots less stuff

Unless that one is right. I had a similar argument at checkin at an airport. I'd ditched all my toiletries, a couple of books etc and not added anything and they were telling me my bag was heavier, they offered to prove it by using a different scale, but they would all have been calibrated and checked by the same person and machine, it's just a case of which one is correct.

Yeah but I'm not carrying any stuff I don't use these days ..I've even noticed the van going better so I'm pretty sure it's well under its limits ... Lenny HB said it's meant to give a combined readout so I think I may have drove off it too soon
The control box was all duct taped so maybe it's not right

That is the old control box from before they converted it to fully automatic.

Having seen him in the flesh, if he says he's not put on weight I reckon he is telling porkies.

Weird these Scots first of all he was saying how much warmer it is down here then a bit later we wander down to the chippy and he has to put on a jumper, us tough southers are still in short sleeves.
