Wonder if it sort of suspends your old licence when you apply online, & you‘d then have to wait for them to post out your new one?

It would be interesting to know whether the police and others can access DVLA Driving Licence records from the roadside, as they can with Vehicle Reg, Tax and MOT.

Does anybody know? Ex Police Traffic perhaps?

It's not where I left it ...I left it at a different services from where they are telling me it is now ...but it's not moved very far by what they are saying

Oi ...it's never broken down before.

It's 16 years old with 109000 miles it needs maintenance the same as any other van

Yes I saw that yesterday ...SO I'm not sure if it's best to apply for new one now and hope it arrives quick OR to just keep that screenshot from DVLA on my phone and if for any reason I have probs abroad with licence I can show them that

The one year extention is an EU law thing so no problems abroad apart from the non EU countries you were thinking of going through.

anyone who has worked with vehicles knows keys are a nightmare to keep track off especially with several peop[le involved my experience is 30 years ago when a key cost a pound keys now can be hundreds of pound to replace so even more important not to misplace them

I hate waiting for anything and the longer I wait to get Toby checked the more anxious I get ...mostly as I can't plan anything. If it's going to be a quick fix I have things I need to plan and arrange to get back on the road ....if it's going to be a bigger and longer job I have different things I need to plan

I'm bored just waiting ...

I've to wear one from the street through reception waiting room etc until in the surgery ...they said that on phone
Also to phone from outside and a staff member comes out and escorts you lol

I'm hoping I can get the dentist to remove and reseat it today ...she's normally quite good with me so fingers crossed

Driver supposed to phone when 20 minutes away so I can meet him at garage

14.12 and nothing ....dentist at 15.30 and it will take me 20 minutes to get there

Can't rely or count on any bugger ....

What will happen if you cannot be at garage? Will recovery truck take it away.

I suggest you send message now to garage authorising them to receive and sign for Toby and copy AA to that effect.

I know I must sound like a moaning git but honestly the service AA has provided is shit.

So because I have the dental appointment I phoned AA again for an update because it would be too sensible and considerate for them to actually phone me with an update

So the only number I have is emergency breakdown ...you get 3 minutes of covid advice etc before getting any automated options ....you then get 2 choices
Have you been In an accident or in a dangerous location press 1
Anything else press 2

So 2 is the only choice

Then more automated speech lasts 1 minute 10 seconds
2 choices again
Are you an existing member press 1
Are you looking to join us press 2

So I press one

You then get information about standing on other side of barrier and respecting social distance etc

Then a speech about the quickest way to get help is through their app ...press one to receive a text message
If you prefer to speak to a person press 2

So I press 2

We are experiencing high call volumes your patience is appreciated etc etc etc

Another 3 minutes before someone answers

I then go through the name registration number rigmarole again ....

Then I get the same crap it's on a lorry

So I ask for update ...he says I'll put you on hold and phone driver ...

Phone cuts me off


I then go through all the above again

Finally get through and told it's now in Annandale services waiting on yet another truck

No idea when it's arriving


I'm off to dentist and I'm bloody raging
