Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Is that all of germany all year round?

Not sure if I'll ever get there depends how time goes etc but id have liked to visit bavaria .....But depends when as if it's winter and cold I might not ha ha
November to April. Not too bad if you don't have them I think it's a €60 fine if you cause hold up or €120 if in an accident.

Cool I might be ok then.
I've found alpin rated tyres online from this norauto so if that's the right prices I'll get the bridgestone ones tomorrow on front at least.

I would change all 4 and sell these Michelin campers but don't want to carry them around till I'm home

Up wi the larks this morning ...Milo in his childish way decided to belly flop my face at 6am and I'll tell you a dog willy dragged across yer mouth doesn't half make you move in the morning so I've been up since about 6.30 ...dogs are outside playing and I've been having coffee and croissants

I've just been treated to the Frenchman parked across from me popping out his van in his checked pyjamas and urinating in the carpark. I'm actually surprised as 2 French vans came in last evening and neither of them parked next to me or each other ....I'm amazed. Or do the rules change on their own soil?

So anyway I'm guessing brexit didn't happen as I've not been escorted out of France yet.

Is it safe to be displaying my Scottish flag?
I'm considering removing the gb sticker and just leaving my ecosse one :p

So having not seen news etc dare I ask what's happening now?

Keep it brief though lol

Keeping it brief, we are not even one step closer to either staying or leaving, but we are several steps closer to being the laughing stock of the world.

Ok enough about brexit I'm bored again lol.

Why is nothing in the world simple

Norauto website 5 million winter tyres

In reality they don't have any :(

Been to one branch of norauto and another company neither have winter or all season tyres in stock.

Language barrier not helping either
Woman in norauto phoned another branch to ask and they said no apparently but then she told me to go to another branch but I don't know if they have them or not ...it's 9 km away so I'll drive there and ask I guess

Normal I think unless they’re bog standard car tyres, I needed tyres when one of mine got damaged and all the online places need a French address, so we had to use a friends address. We used Euromaster for the tyres.

Why would they need a French address when buying them in Spain?:rofl::rofl:

Im in France lol

But I've just been to the other branch she sent me too they don't speak a word of English but don't have any tyres this size in stock never mind bloody winter ones.

He can order tyres be here Wednesday but that's no good and still not sure if that would be the winter ones as he doesn't understand me and I don't understand him

What I don't get is there's 5 bloody branches of norauto around perpignon.

In the UK If I went in to say quickfit for tyres they would check other branches etc.

I can't believe there's no van tyres in any of these branches as they haven't checked so I've gotta drive all over the place myself.

I need tyres urgently and I don't want to stay here till Wednesday so I'm gonna go try this other branch and see if I can find someone who speaks English and sort something out.

I don't want to fit summer tyres if I can avoid it but these are illegal now .

Order online and at least you can arrange where and when to have them fitted and know what your getting. Maybe you could use a funster who has a French address.

I know when I had a puncture a few years ago at Narbonne, I took wheel of and took it to a Norauto and they couldn’t do it, don’t know if it was the size of tyre or what but had to go elsewhere.

You are in France.
I know and I don't expect them to speak English I'm just saying it makes it difficult.
I've learned enough Spanish to get by but unfortunately I don't know any French :(

I duuno, you people with all the time in the world are always in such a rush! Have you got a hot date along the coast?
Not so much in a rush I just hadn't planned to stay in perpignon that long.

But in the end I had no choice I'm here till Thursday now.

Ok so coming to the other branch paid of .....sort of

There are no tyres of this size in the country apparently.
I managed to get a guy here who spoke some English so I asked him to check other places I could perhaps get tyres on route.

0 stock in France...He had one summer tyre here that's it.

But he could order the tyres for me so he has ordered the bridgestone winter tyres for me at €103 per tyre plus €17 each to fit balance and new valves so €243 all in.

I've paid €100 deposit and they get fitted on Thursday at 9am.

Unfortunately they can't align my wheels here as not a big enough ramp.

For that I would need to go to euromaster on Monday.

So I have a few days to waste but that gives me time to fit the other brake disc and I'm going to clean up the calipers etc while I have wheels off and paint them.

I've also found speakers In here and as I've a knackered one on Toby I'm going to treat him to a new set

I'm too late then!
You'll never know what he said on the phone to get a "no" answer! Ah well ...next time may be!

Ok well that's the other disc fitted gave everything a food wire brush under there and much tidier. I didn't paint them at the minute as doing it in the street isn't the best.

As it was im removing caliper and thus French man came over said hello and asked what I was doing....Obviously language problem again lol but next minute he's sat down trying to show me how to remove my calipers lol ... I'm like yeah I know it's not the first time ha ha. But anyway he said good luck and left.

I've found 2 small holes one either side that I will need welded when I'm back home ...Not too bad only an inch or so in diameter but caused by rubbish underseal that is peeling in places. When back home I'm going to clean all that up and repaint under both front wheel arches.

Cleaned up around the strut too it's knackered but thankfully it doesn't seem to be affecting the van when driving.not sure when I can get them done.
So just have to wait for tyres now and get alignment done on Monday. As you can see n the last pic the tyres are pretty bad

Certainly had your money’s worth out of them.
Re- struts , I’ve been doing research on removing them and it’s not a bad job, just have to remove bottom part of dash trim to get to the top support (3x bolts) and then the 4 bolts on hub.
Would need decent spring compressors though.

Yeah and I can't do them roadside unfortunately. I think accessing the drivers side top mounts on this van would be a nightmare as it's right hand drive with passenger door not much room to access.
I think that will be a garage job but might wait till I'm home. Or will try in Italy when I get oil change etc
