Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

How come nobody told me there's bloody brown bears and wolves in the French Pyrenees
As a Dons fan you've encountered many Bears in your life , us Glasgow Bears(y)(y)(y)(y). Some of us are VERY approachable , don't know about our brown cousins though.
Looks superb in the mountains , enjoy.

Thought I read in one of your posts you were a Dons fan . Must be mistaken . Really sorry :(:(:(.
Did you maybe mention sheep in a post ? As this is one of the biggest topics I would need to take a week to go back over all the posts(y)(y).
Will make sure I read everything properly , honest ;);).
Hope the cold thing is improving .
John

Lol can't stand football so I'm not a fan of any team

Lucky man , I'm fed up with it now , too much on tv , not the "spectacle" it used to be. Most are overpaid sugar lumps , softies and melt away at first sign of physicality. Not like when I played , a tackle below the knee was unusual:D.

Back in Spain in the Spanish Pyrenees now it's kind of surreal ...I'm being burned by the sun but there's folk skiing 20 feet from me.

Gonna take the dogs out for there first feel off snow

Well you obviously haven't all been eaten by the resident wildlife :D,that's one of the joys of being a fur lined thong, a hungry bear never knows where to find you. Hope you are feeling better today Tam.

No but I'm a little dissapointed I didn't see any :( I like bears and wolves.

Colds doing my head in as my sinuses are blocked which isn't good at this altitude I'm practically deaf.

If you are near a Farmacia at any point some Olbas Oil might help clear your head.
Mind you don't get sunburn /frostbite on your ears,I believe at such altitudes you are supposed to keep them covered

Best tan you can get is in the snow ! , the rays from above and the reflected rays off the snow

usually well below zero & I come out burnt to bits Love it LOL

Well I'm just a few miles outside of Andorra it's taken nearly 4 hours to do 103 miles ...lucky if I've been over 25/30 mph I can honestly say I'm bored now so my fix of mountains is done once I leave Andorra for a bit lol.

Unfortunately I think it's taken its toll on Toby

I've had this weird noise coming from him for a few days that sounds like a whirring noise but staggered if you know what I mean ...like you hear on an old bus or truck with a worn diff.
And then I was getting a vibration coming up through the steering wheel and I've put it down to the crappy road surfaces ....But now when I'm braking it's really vibrating and squealing in the drivers front...so I think I've a warped brake disc and the brakes are now terrible. So I need yet again to find a parts place cause I think I need new discs and pads.

@gus-lopez and I had checked the brakes the first time I popped in to see him and the pads were like new and the discs were clean etc but on the drivers wheel when you turned it there was a very slight high spot that you could feel but wasn't worth worrying about.

But can't ignore this now. .so will have to Jack it up and check tomorrow then see where I can get parts.

I'm hoping it's that because otherwise the only thing I can think of is a broken drivrshaft

That's a bummer Tam, you seem to have had more than your share of problems with Toby. It's a good job you are motor savvy.

Aye the joys of an older van :(

Well what a rubbish day today has been all I've done is drive. I've been from France back into Spain then Andorra and back in to France. Didn't like Andorra it's just shops and petrol stations the only good part was diesel at €1.03.I've wasted 100 euro in diesel today and then because Andorra isn't eu lol I had no internet so couldn't access my next stop point and had to go on road signs which meant I ended up in a tunnel with a €14.80fee.

I also got stopped exiting Andorra by a gendarme who asked if I had anything to declare , didn't believe I hadn't even stopped in Andorra except for diesel so wanted to look in van and in garage.

Grrr what a day I'm knackered and needing food.
I'm now in a little French village called dorres for the night

How old is Toby? Mine is a 55 reg, but you are no doubt doing much greater mileage than me , (but Toby also gets much more tlc than my van).

Not a good day! I seem to remember when you were on your way south you wanted to get to Andorra but weather conditions thwarted you. Someone said at the time that you hadn't missed anything. But there you go, you can't always believe everything that is said on here, sometimes you have to find out for yourself. :)

It's a 54 reg 2004 so one year older but he's nearly done 100,000 miles now.

It's no big deal as long as it's just brakes and not something I can't fix roadside myself as then it gets expensive.

I think you need to invest in a trolley jack and axel stands tho' Tam.

Aye I just wanted to visit so I could say I've been really as it's another little country...But it's only good if you like skiing or shopping I guess

Too much weight ...I carried them in franky

I have a 10 tonne bottle jack which is fine for taking wheels off I just wouldn't lie under the van with it.

Almost a year ago there were girls saying " the joys of an older man";);).
Don't think there 's been a van made that doesn't need money spent on it pal.
John
Ha ha ha.

Aye I know ...I just wish it wasn't a new part every week lol

Tam check the long drive shaft for play at the g/box, mine went in Pau a couple years ago and destroyed the box, the 1st sign was vibration up the steering column,
