Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

I'd forgot how cold it can get when we went to Baza the Sunday before last.

Baza.... We did Ubeda and Baeza last year. Quiet towns at first glance but ended up staying a few days and a week respectively. Great facilities provided by the towns and amazing architecture and food (not necessarily in that order).
Cant wait to get another van to go pootling down the A92 again.
Took us 3 months from Murcia to Cordoba and back....

That's about 1.5 Kph if you traveled for 2 hours a day

Well the good news is @gus-lopez And I managed to get the alternator off this morning , took it round to the local spares place got a new one and although refitting it was awkward as hell and took the pair of us around 3 hours to get it back on and everything adjusted up etc it's done and working fine.

It's a bugger of a job to do mainly due to its location and accessibility but we got there in the end.

Big thanks due to Richard though as it's certainly not something I could have done on my own.
I reckon even in a garage theres parts of that definately a 2 man job....It's bloody awkward.

So I'm still here in lorca tonight thanks to Richard and jaks hospitality as they've been feeding me too lol.

Thank you Richard and Jaks, we won't have to put up with him gurning now and hopefully we will get to see some more great pictures.

Well done Richard @gus-lopez (y):D:D

Richard (The other one)
I agree and I have to say when your in another country and something breaks it's a godsend when someone helps you out so I'm very grateful

@gus-lopez .... well done..(y)

Supercharged batteries now Tam...:D
Well certainly the engine battery but my ebl is still not charging leisure batteries from the engine.
But that's another issue and thankfully at the minute my solar is keeping them full daily

What a naughty ebl (I have no idea what that is),but won't you need your leisure batteries fully charged when you get into the extended part of this tour in deepest, darkest siberia Tam? We don't want the doggies getting chilly and you won't be able to park up @gus-lopez then.

Certainly come the end of the year I may then have probs with the leisure batteries charging. The ebl is the electrobloc/battery charger. It would seem there's an inbuilt switch inside that controls the amount of charge coming from alternator to the batteries . As my solar controllers are also wired through the ebl they too are controlled by this switch.
I think the switch is knackered and instead of the 25+amps it should put in I get about 2-3amps

I could get around this by having a separate split charger fitted but it's then getting someone to do this.

Electrics aren't my strongpoint

Somebody on here will be I'm sure, think positive, then you'll only have to make another slight detour to meet up with them.
After all until the B---x-t thing is sorted you have the whole of Europe to arrange somewhere to meet up. :ROFLMAO:

Well done Richard @gus-lopez (y) When I was trucking it was like that, we never had breakdown cover, we helped each over, I have had phone calls late evening when owner drivers I had met over the years, have needed a wrecker to recover them, or a fitter to sort them out, and the same for me if I was up the road, I would look up mates it that area. (y)

The funniest was in the peak district 44t and a big jubilee clip broke on my intercooler pipe, looked everywhere for a bit of wire, but the did Not have fences, ;) the build walls of of bits of rock.
I could hear this moped coming in the distance  for ages, :D anyway I gave him £20 to go and get me a or as many jubilee clips to make it big enough to go round the pipe, of he went I was thinking probably won't see him again, but after what seemed a couple of hours he came back (y) I said keep the change and buy some petrol, to get a fitter out it would have cost me a stranger at least a £100 ;) + parts. :crying:  Bob.

Lovely couple and Richard mended our rear lights after the we grounded at Mojácar old town!! A truely kind funster !.
Yeah he was telling me about them yesterday I'm glad you managed to get them sorted

The joys of motorhomes always something to fix on them

Well this was self inflicted ! Tried to leave a steep carpark! Thank goodness we had an unused towbar on!

You could go to Schaudt in Germany and maybe get it repaired.

Well that's a new alternator fitted , the front crossmember and sump wire brushed and painted. Rear axle greased, exhaust rubbers replaced , tyre pressures done , glass cleaned lol

Psv glass phoned to tell them I want my windscreen removed and refitted properly as it's not seated right and the seal is all bumpy as the fitter pumped it full of sealant.

All in all a productive couple of days.

Sat in the sun now

Would you like to maintain my vehicles? In exchange I'd bake you the odd cake (some of them very odd)!

So I left @gus-lopez place in lorca this morning and headed towards albacete.
Decided to visit the old town of chinchilla de monte Aragon.

There's a very large free aire there with amenities so stopped on that had some lunch and then a look around the town.
As usual it's a bit like a ghost town at this time of day.
