Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Hi tam , I guess I’m the new kid on the block ! , I’ve only recently joined fun & started reading this adventure making me realise I would need to read the first adventure to really understand what’s going on SO 370 pages later and 38 pages on this travel I’m now up to speed , enjoying your posts , keep up the good work , regards Kenny d

Now you've caught up on the first chapter you also would have seen the bit where tam decided not to put up the photos of the dutch students. Wow seems so long ago :(

I Guess with jade I'm just worried she keeps following someone or another person in the opposite direction and gets lost as I can't then catch up with her.

Especially in another country.
I know she's chipped etc but I think it would be a nightmare and a worry if I lost her.
I obviously don't want to keep her on the lead at all times either.

I'll try tomorrow just ignoring her a bit and see if she comes to catch up of her own accord.

Dogs.....their worse than flipping kids lol

I'm glad you're enjoying it

It was French students lol

The Dutch one was older than them

But I've very fond memories of those encounters.....sadly I've had no such luck this year :( .

But who knows :p

And anyway I can't give too many details on this forum some would get offended.......others would jist be very surprised so it's best to be sparing ha ha ha

Austrian triathletes? Your just teasing me now :(

Might have to ask for the co ordinates to those dogging sites again at this rate

Not every person I meet is romantic lol...the lady I met last week is happily single and we get on as friends and mutual travellers dog owners etc ....There's nowt more too it
I doubt I'm her type either lol

Well I'm in Alicante still and they have the biggest brothel I've ever seen. It would be rude not to right?

When our dogs were young/new if they ran off we used to walk in the opposite direction,,Never lost one and we had six all at one time in the 90s..They always turned around in the end..BUSBY,,:D:D

I have certainly found that walking /running away has always worked but the dogs I was dealing with, although some were "second hand ",were not and never had been feral type street dogs.
This type of poor animal that may have been abandoned or driven away most or all of it's life might well react in an entirely different manner to a dog brought up with or in close proximity to humans?

3 of my 6 were rescue dogs except one,,i found her mal-nourished as an abused stray..Must admit she stuck like glue,,BUSBY.

Were they UK or Spanish rescue? I think of UK rescue as being neglected /abused /maybe starving but still usually chained or shut up on one premises whereas the Spanish dogs I've seen do appear to roam at large and live /survive unrestrained or restricted in any way.
I speak of animals I've seen roaming the counTayside and skulking about villages and small towns.
I appreciate there will be other "rescue "dogs who have been handed in as unwanted or removed from unsuitable premises but it is my belief (I do NOT speak from experience)that these animals will probably have very different attitudes toward humans.
Although dogs (as differs from horses, that I have worked with professionally all my life) are by nature predatetors, I still believe that the "fight or flight" aspect of their personalities will differ according to the lives they have led and whether or not they have been free roaming, feral animals.
Sorry Tam for hijacking your thread.

I agree a lot depends on the past life they’ve had.

Our daughters dog is a beagle and always does his own thing. He too used to “graze”, but now she puts his food down in the morning and in the evening, and if he doesn’t eat it, puts it away til the next time. He’s much more keen on treats now, and scoffs his food when he sees it now! He even comes back for a treat these days (spent hours when he was younger trying to get him back!).

Is the EF EL TEE a sort of self help thing in this context ?:LOL:

Well I left Valencia this morning and drove down to cullera....I'm parked at the makeshift p1key camp lol ....doesn't look as busy as last year and it's all factory built Motor homes as far as I can see , haven't seen any of the big homebuilt things that were here last year. Looks a bit cleaner too not loads of rubbish lying round.

Beagles are born and bred hunting dogs and tho' the KC ones may be generations removed from their original hunting ancestors their instincts remain very strong (they are also great scavengers) and delightful dogs, tho ' often not ideal pets (due to their hunting / roaming inclinations). I worked with a pack of approximately 40 Beagles for 13 years.
Your daughter is absolutely right about not leaving food available through the day. Treats are definitely more desirable on an empty stomach, thereby making training sessions more rewarding (for both trainee and trainer).

If you are really worried, perhaps a dog tracker would suit? They are available on Amazon so I assume you can get them in Spain.

So I had a walk up to the castle in cullera again. Didn't seem such a bad climb this year I must be getting used to it.

I stayed on this place last year but where I had parked by the river there's now a sign saying motorhomes forbidden so I'm just next to the herd but not in among them so to speak.
I liked last year's spot and stayed here a few days but only here the one night this time.

Last year :)
