Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Great news about your mum Tam.
enjoying the thread as well, just caught up on loads more of it, so jealous as up here it 75mpg winds and rain aka storm eric.

The van will probably be with you soon without us in it, I can see it rocking and rolling out there.

Well I'm still in castellon lol , I left the aerodrome parking yesterday around 11 I think and drove a long to the proper aire to empty loo etc, Angela from Newcastle and @barsteward from here were still there , ended up chatting and having a coffee etc and before I knew it the day had ran away to gone 3.30pm so ended up staying here again last night.
I did manage to find a barber close by though and walked round to get a haircut. First one I've been to that couldn't speak a word of English and I nearly lost my ponytail ......close shave there ( pun intended ) hair isn't as shaved at the sides as I normally get But with the communication problem I didn't want to push my luck incase I ended up looking like @ianthebuilder Lol :p

So I fully intend on moving to Valencia today after walking jade.

Most dogs won’t listen if they’re having fun with another dog.
Try drumming obedience into a Jack Russell!
Ours is quite good but she does go deaf a lot!
Aye nearly every dog I meet the owner says the same lol...other dogs around they jist ignore ya lol and jade is still a baby ...she no bother otherwise she just wants to play and meet people.

So I've just pulled in to the parking near port saplaya on the outskirts of Valencia.
Going to have some lunch and then I'll go for a wander up to the town ....loved this place last year it's like little Venice

It's boiling out there today ...I broke a sweat

So you recommend Valencia? I need to shift from Alicante. Was going to head south but haven't been to Valencia so could be worth a visit north.

How was your parking spot? You couldn't put up the park4night screenshot could you?

I really enjoyed Valencia last year I stayed here about a week but in 3 different spots.

I never parked here last year but staying here tonight and I'll move tomorrow to one of the places I stayed last year.
This spot is handy for port saplaya , shops, restaurants and the beach.

Oh and if you like kfc it's right here

I was tempted but I had steak out the freezer with garlic potatoes instead.

Trying to lose a bit of weight so I resisted the bucket of chicken

Cheers. Is there plenty spaces there? Hard to tell from the photos on the app.

I am partial to a KFC, chicken is probably my favourite meat when I'm not feeling like beef.

Although what about sausages? Can't fault pork really can you? And who doesn't like a sausage? I was drooling over all the meats in the supermarket the other day. Saw a couple of nice, dark looking steaks and found out it was horse. I decided not to buy but still might go back for them yet.

Anyone got any good recipes for horse?

Without wishing to be smug, my dogs can be called off playing with other dogs, and even with sheep (a mistake on my part letting them in the same field) but then border collies are very intelligent and very trainable once they know what you expect of them. I treat mine the same as the grandchildren, except the dogs don't go off on a tantrum when I tell them off.

Lots of space here it's a huge carpark

I'm quite partial to a horse burger or steak to be honest

Well that wasn't a pretty carpark to stop in last night but it was well lit and very quiet overnight for a Saturday. It felt safe and secure enough so not bad for a nights stop.

I've moved along to Valencia where I had stayed a few nights last year and what a difference a year has made. Last year there was maybe 6 or 7 vans this year there's over 20 and on the gravel carpark behind as no longer allowed to park on the paved area in front. I've found a space for now so we can go have a walk along the sea front etc don't know if I'll stop the night or maybe find a spot in the city centre ...Not decided yet but only staying here one other night then I'll probably go to cullera for a night tomorrow.
So this is where I am just now

Those sandcastles are interesting. Over here the yobs would just kick them over, not so in Spain it seems. It's incredible to see them working on them, really skilled.
They are and last year I was really impressed by some of them.

BUT

Having been here last year that same bloody sand castle has been there a year now that I know of lol which makes me think the guys aren't as talented as I first thought, I was naively under the impression they built them fairly regular and not just one particular design then keep it built for years on end.
They have someone guarding it 24 hours a day so it doesn't get knocked down.

This is a pic of it last year ( top)
And today ( bottom )

You would have though a bit of cement in the mix would help preserve it longer:D
Les
Sometimes I wonder if there's something in them lol

I've never actually seen one being built they are always already there. I only see the guys sprinkling water on them etc

It wouldn't matter how frequently or otherwise I tried to build one, it wouldn't be a fraction as clever/skilfully built as that one-with or with or without the aid of cement!(n)

Me neither

But it still feels a bit like cheating , locals will know it's the same one but I bet every tourist does the same as my first reaction and thinks they build that every day lol
