Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

OK so to put folk out their misery the quote was for £407 😱

I'd hazard a guess the £7 is materials and the £400 is straight in the hip pocket

Now I know I'm scottish but jeeso thats a lot of money to basically spray paint the shower base.

Yes he gives the whole selling speech , guaranteed 10 years , resistant to mould , fading etc etc but its like 2 foot square and only a little crack.

BUT to be honest I'm not sure I'm many alternatives , finding a replacement would likely be just as expensive and still cheap shitty plastic

Getting one made in grp is possible but time consuming and no guarantee it would be correct either.

Temporary or botched repair could result in rotten floor etc ....

Basically I'm buggered ....i need to keep this van forever just to break even lol

Can practically replace the ebl. The battery and the alternator for the same price as this fella wants to throw some paint about

Its highway robbery to be honest.

I swear someone is going to find me rocking in a corner biting my knees and muttering to myself like golum before long

we had ours done 2016 £385, and its cracked again, waiting for an appointment(yeah right) more like an excuse, and its supposed to be lifetime guarantee while you own the van

Do it yourself probably be a nonslip surface which would be a extra if done professionally

Its supposed to be non slip , anti fungal , anti bacterial and guaranteed for 10 years.

Its still expensive

Could nor a stainless steel pressing be fabricated to cover plastic crap..Often wondered why they have never used stainless steel in the first place..BUSBY.

Has the under tray support gone missing ?
Does the job include checking, might be worth asking

Aye that would be a good idea but no idea where I'd find someone to do that in the time frame I have.

Similar shock on my van when I first had it.Main board burned out on diesel heater,,850 to replace,890 for new heater with 3 year warranty ..Went for new one but that's out of warranty now..BUSBY.

it Would be better BUT reducing weight is always manufacturers top priority, If they made All things In the MH to the standard you , me & busby would Like they would end up with poor pay load
unfortunately it’s always a trade off with pay loads & weigh

Absolutely peeing it down today and looks like its on all day so hopes of raising the van and checking out the alternator etc are dashed for today.

Shame my sink isn't arriving till tomorrow as i could have fitted that today instead.

So not much I can do to the van today.

In other news I got my insurance renewal through ....its gone up £20 since last year to £696 ......that idiot with the landrover in roquetas cost me 6 years no claims discount.

OK so a wee development today on the electrics saga.

So after a sunny day yesterday my solar had managed to raise the starter battery from the 7.2v it was on Monday night up to 12.1v when I left for work Tuesday night at 5pm ....when i come home from work at 11pm I kind of expected the battery to have lost charge again but it was still at 12.1v
This morning when I got up at 9am it had risen to 12.3v so I thought I'd try starting the van and to my surprise it fired up pretty much straight away.

The volts from alternator sat between 13.6 and 13.8v and never rose above that regardless of revving etc ....and the battery light on dash went out as normal.

It started 3 or 4 times after that with no issues ....

Now despite it being raining and overcast here today ive been getting a steady 3+ amps from the solar and the starter battery is around 12.7v.

So whatever caused the battery to drop to 7.2v and the alternator to be putting out 17.2v seems to now not be doing it.

Due to the weather and spending a few hours chatting with Derek Razamataz I've done sod all today so hopefully if dry tomorrow I'm going to do as planned and get the van up on stands and then get underneath to check all the wiring and connections at the alternator etc .

In a way its more annoying that this problem seems to be intermittent and will therfore be more of a pain to resolve but it does kind of give me some hope that maybe its not as grim a situation as first thought .....if I can find the issue.

I still think I'm going to replace the ebl as my gut tells me the split charge in that is faulty but I'm hopeful that the alternator and battery aren't knackered.

I'm also of the feeling that if it continues to start up and run with no power surges from alternator etc between now and next Tuesday then I'm going to go ahead and get it in to the garage for the timing belt and brake fluid change its booked in for next Tuesday as that's been put off for months now for one reason or another.

The sink is also supposed to arrive tomorrow so I plan to try and get my bathroom put back together over the next day or two as the van is like a tip inside at present which isn't ideal when fulltiming.

Still not decided what to do regarding the shower tray whether I'm brave enough to try a DIY repair or not or to just bite the bullet and get it speedcoated.

The comment above from someone who had it done before only to have it crack again kind of concerns me.

So ill give that more thought over the next few days.....I'm aware now that time is catching up with me if I want to head off start of September....but i guess mid September isn't too bad a compromise if need be .....as I can earn the extra cash to cover the extra expenses in that fortnight

We shall see .....

Quite impressed with my solar though ...considering one of the panels is the old type and not much output ....but planning to replace that also.

I bought 2 of these about 2 years back that I installed on this van & they work well. £148 pair.collected

Think they might do post.

Are you measuring the voltages directly at battery and alternator with a meter or going by the panel readings?

Both ..

Although I've not been able to access the alternator yet as its not stopped raining since I said I was going to.

So just voltage at battery and on panel and i have a cigarette lighter plug in volt meter

All give much the same readings

Theres still something wrong I just haven't found it yet but the starter battery seems to be holding a charge for now ...

Why is nothing simple?

And no one takes pride in their work ....the sink has arrived ...its not great
Finish is a bit rough in very noticeable areas ....and the plug hole isn't round never mind the correct size ...

I've not paid for it yet ...not sure what to do now

I would not be paying for that. If I buy something I want it right. (y)
Yeah me too ...but I've waited 10 bloody days for this so far and nearly 3 weeks since I removed the old one.

Not sure whether to see if he wants to sell it cheaper and I'll fix the bloody thing myself as its getting beyond a joke now.
