Theres a few runs ......ill see once its fully dry tomorrow if I can sand or polish them out then give it a final coat ....but overall I'm quite pleased with it so far

Looks like you ha e done a nice job but I wouldn't have painted it. You really should have finished it with gel coat, with use the paint will flake off.

Yeah gel coat would have been better if I could get it locally in a can

But as its fibreglass and primed it shouldn't really flake off unless treated rough as no different to fibreglass cars etc

Awning repaired now too ....new locking end plate £28 and pair of lead rail end caps £19.99 courtesy of eBay to fix the damage the over helpful belgian ( is that the roght word?) Man who battered hell out of it when attempting to help me wind it in portugal.

Its in garage on Tuesday for new cambelt , clutch master cylinder and brake fluid change. Still got the ebl to replace, replace one solar panel , I've the shower to fix and a couple of wee bits of tidying to do.

I did just that in an old static caravan I was living in while renovating a house
although it worked well It looked like S##T
it’s not easy to Get a pro Finnish using fibre glass

OK so to put folk out their misery the quote was for £407


I'd hazard a guess the £7 is materials and the £400 is straight in the hip pocket

Now I know I'm scottish but jeeso thats a lot of money to basically spray paint the shower base.

Yes he gives the whole selling speech , guaranteed 10 years , resistant to mould , fading etc etc but its like 2 foot square and only a little crack.

BUT to be honest I'm not sure I'm many alternatives , finding a replacement would likely be just as expensive and still cheap shitty plastic

Getting one made in grp is possible but time consuming and no guarantee it would be correct either.

Temporary or botched repair could result in rotten floor etc ....

Basically I'm buggered ....i need to keep this van forever just to break even lol

Can practically replace the ebl. The battery and the alternator for the same price as this fella wants to throw some paint about

Just had mine Speedcoated 3 weeks ago....£260...just did the shower tray....it would have been £380 if the whole Bathroom floor was done. Didn’t think that was necessary. It looks good although a fly landed on it when it was drying which got dragged off so a small mark. He knocked of £20.

Aye i think because he's likely the only agent in scotland he ups the charges ....im not keen on paying £407 so im going to attempt a repair myself ....it won't be perfect but as long as its watertight ill live with a repair just now.

Might get it done down south somewhere on my travels

I’m getting really worried reading your thread at the moment...I’ve got virtually the same van, same age and haven’t used it in anger yet but plan on a 6 month plus journey soon. Am getting very nervous that all the issues you’ve had will visit me whilst I’m touring . Please stop posting issues with your MH. Lie if you have to...just say it’s running like clockwork.

Not really issues just wear and tear mixed with maintenance....it is after all a 16 year old van and unlike many it has been used and done miles.....im just a bit of a perfectionist with my van so im doing lots of stuff to it that many others would probably just live with.

Yeah I moan about it because it annoys me when I'm trying to fix other things and something else goes wrong.....and the mh tax for the sake of it being a mh annoys me

I could buy a bathroom suite for a house for the price of a plastic bathroom basin for a motorhome ....and generally the quality of the parts are crap.

Bloody Scottish weather ....it was blazing sunshine I got roasted walking dogs ...came back gave the couple of paint runs on sink a sand down ....got my old tarp out weighed down etc ready to paint it and the heavens opened ...

Mum came of worse lol she was in garden with her frame ferrying buckets of compost down from front garden to bottom of back garden when heavens opened .....she got soaked

Here’s the guy who did mine....he works out of Portsmouth...he comes to your MH as he lives in a block of flats so doesn’t have on site facilities. Brings own generator if there is no leccy. michael.wise@hotmail.co.uk

Hi Tam Northernraider

You think you have problems? I have been asked to sort out the cabin electrics on a 1998/99 Rimor Europeo 50. ( https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/rimor-europeo-50-electrics.223882/post-4002450 ) which has had its control panel disconnected and by-passed. A guestimate for a replacement panel is in the region of £550 - £600 and there is not a lot on it

Finally got sink back in and all hoses connected etc....had a few wee leaks so hopefully all sorted now ....sealed around it
Can't refitt mirror till my sikaflex arrives then ill get that sorted and the cabinet back in . .. i got a bloody thumb print in paint yesterday so have to try and polish that out

Van is booked in tomorrow for cambelt change etc so likely be Wednesday before I finish bathroom. Hopefully all goes well with garage.

It must be a right pain being such a perfecionist.
I realise your van will have a much greater sale value than mine but being as neither of us are planning to sell any time soon I will gladly settle for much less than perfection.
