I cant as I live in the van so I need it fitted or I've no power . I could send it to apuljack or a&n for a repair at £130 but would have the same problem ...thats why i had to pay £300 for a control panel also as i need the replacement before i can remove the old one.

The joys of fulltiming i guess

Fingers crossed that sorts out your electrical issues. Pain in the arse when things aren't working quite right.
Yeah I'm not holding my breath though as this morning I now have a battery light on the dash and my engine battery is showing low volts

You have been sitting up for a while, can't remember do you have a battery master fitted?

Tam can you not run a EHU lead from your mums and just pay her for some electric.

Its not the electric thats the problem its working the water pump etc for shower and things with the electrics disconnected.

Also the time involved as they take a few days each way delivery and 5 - 6 days to strip down test repair etc

You literally have to disconnect everything including engine battery , solar etc to remove the ebl

And van is booked in to garage a week on Tuesday for cambelt etc

The cost isn't bothering me if it fixes the issues ..but the issues seem to be multiplying

I now have a battery light on the dash , with engine running the alternator is putting in anything from 14.4v to 17.2 ...and when you rev it there are other lights coming on dash , brake warning, traction control etc etc

With engine running the fridge normally switches to 12v but now briefly clicks on to 12v then immediately back to gas

Theres something weird going on with electrics ...

Tomorrow I'm going to try refitting old control panel to see if the dash lights etc still play up

Might not be connected but its weird how its not done this before

17.2 is very highhave you checked the alternator isnt playing up causing all your problems

As I said when we spoke eairler I think the alternator regulator has blown this would also affect the D+ output from the alternator which controls the 12v on the fridge d the split charge relay. Should be cheap just to change the regulator pack on the back of the alternator.

Thats the puzzle at the minute .. but the alternator was changed march 2019 and the battery was replaced march 2020.

At the minute I don't know if the ebl is causing problems with the alternator or the alternator is causing probs with the ebl

Or if they are both knackered ....

It could be

the problem is Where do I get a regulator pack from?

Its very high hence my concern
It's so high that you run the risk of overheating the starter battery if you use the van. Anything over 15v is dangerous and will cause damage to the base vehicle electrics. You should never see more than 14.5v and 14.2v is usual.

All sorted there's a secret code for dealerships apparently...once that's been entered it fixed the problem
Not too secret:

This one's for Hymer.

Yep I know .....and like I said it wasn't happening last week ...the only thing changed is the panel I fitted the other day ... so im going to swap the panels over again tomorrow just to see if it still does it.

Yep i know its coming from the alternator ...the question is why ? And why now when it was fine last week.

It was a new one fitted last March....but in spain so taking it back isn't really possible...and its warranty will be up now anyway.

But its very weird for it to suddenly start playing up especially as the van has been parked up since December and only been out on the road 3 short journeys since.

Well what a day I've had ....took me over an hour to get the snapped bolt out tye subframe....got that side built back up but can't get replacement bolts till tomorrow....stripped down the other side same thing happened took me till nearly 7pm to get everything replaced but I need two new bolts for the ball joint arms so I lost a night's work tonight ...

This is the result of whats been removed and replaced today.

Hopefully get the bolts tomorrow then I need to get the 2 new front tyres fitted and the wheel alignment done.

Then as if things couldn't get any worse i went in to toby for a shower and i had bent down to pick something up off shower floor before getting in and discovered this

Tomorrow's another day Tam,,sure things will pick up..BUSBY.😉

Take a deep breath and count to ten or more if necessary Tam, at least you are aware of Toby's failings and can do something about them.
I have no idea when something is wrong with my van until it breaks down, then I have to pay through the nose for a garage to fix it.

I've known car alternators die when left unused over winter not that uncommon.

Several ebay sellers with alternator regulators for sale less than 20 quid just need to make sure it's the right one for your alternator.

I must admit your van does appear to be jinxed but it's going to be perfect when you have finished with it.
It's 16 years old quite a few people have worse problems with vans that are only a few years old.
