Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Just think Tam, there is always someone worse off than you, you have to feel for that poor ba$%#d

Hope you get sorted quickly.

Oh Please!
I feel your stress!
Since you are getting your cambelt changed,
Could you not involve their auto Electrcian with you pointing out what you think might be happening?
Or
Dougie from Gems Caravans.
Good luck 😉

I must admit your van does appear to be jinxed but it's going to be perfect when you have finished with it.
It's 16 years old quite a few people have worse problems with vans that are only a few years old.
Aye i know that but seriously I don't know how many more disasters I can take at the minute.

My worry is actually driving the van anywhere and doing more damage ...it will be doing neither the engine battery or the electrics in the hab area any favours having that voltage going in.

Changing the alternator was a pig of a job too

so i need to finish off the car today so I can work tonight.

With the van a bit of googling has found me a speedcoat agent in Bathgate that repairs motorhime showers so ive phoned them and emailed some photos off for a quote...hopefully they can repair that in the van and i don't have to strip it out.

I've emailed Martin at a&n caravans and put the ebl on hold for now till i investigate the alternator .....which I'll try and do tomorrow as I need to put van up on ramps or axle stands to access it.

Not heard from grp leisure yet regarding new sink

Will need to investigate alternator quickly as im worried about driving the van to the garage for cambelt next Tuesday and possibly doing more damage.

I'm aware everything can be fixed ....and im fortunate enough to be making the money to be able to do it .....I'm just peed off that I can't get a chance to fix one thing before something else buggers up

Heres a perfect example of sods law

The 2 bolts holding in the bottom ball joints on the car are m10 x 90mm and fine thread.

I can't get these bolts anywhere ...ive been round 5 motor factors and engineering places this morning ...nothing available in fine thread.

So as a result I lost a nights work last night £80-100

Its likely I will lose another tonight so another £80- 100

I can get the bolts from suzuki ...but need ordered and then collected from Edinburgh tomorrow afternoon which if they don't turn up by say 2pm latest then I stand to lose another £80-100

The joys of using your own car to earn money.

So the fitting of a £15 ball joint and the lack of a £3 bolt

Stands to cost me over £300

Couldnt you source a couple from a scrap yard to get you by ?

Another day and more headaches

I managed to get a couple of bolts yesterday from scrapyard so I got car put back together and worked last night ....in garage at the minute to get the wheel alignment done and 2 new tyres fitted on the front

Hopefully then the car will give me a break and earn me the money to fix the money pit

With regards to the camper .....ive a serious headache ...came home from work last night and the conttol panel showing my starter battery at 7.2v

Totally flat this morning although the solar is currently trying to charge it.

So im not sure if the alternator reading high voltage is because its trying to charge a faulty battery OR if the battery has been killed by the alternator...which I don't understand as the van has only been driven about 20-30 miles since I replaced that battery march 31st

OR it could have been the ebl charger that's fried the battery

Who knows

If I change the alternator the battery and the ebl I'm looking at around £450- 500 for all three

I'd be happy just to do that IF I thought that would completely fix the problems but obviously I'm worried it doesn't.

And then theres also potential damage to the leisure batteries.

I'm a problem solver generally I like to know why something isn't working and what caused it but I'm running out of time with this and just want it fixed as I need a holiday so bad ....

So many differing opinions etc just gets me even more confused

In other news I got refund for the wrong sink this morning and grp leisure have made the new one and its being posted out tomorrow for delivery Thursday
He hasn't taken payment for that yet ...he apparently takes payment once received and happy with it which is a very rare thing these days.

Hopefully it will be OK

Sent pics off to a speedcoat agent yesterday regarding shower tray but not heard anything back yet
Will chase him up today

Holy feckin moly....ive just had a quote to repair my shower tray with speedcoat .....
