Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Today's task .....the thin plastic liner around my large skylight was yellowed cracked and bits broken out of it

Brownhills want over £100 for a replacement

1 metre by 1200 piece of white vinyl from ebay £6.50

And a tube of evo stick impact adhesive...£4.50

And then an hour of fettling

Quite pleased with the result ....looks better than original ....once surround is refitted

Can't see the result in those photos but if you say it looks good it must be.
Surprised you didn't unclip the surround to make life easy.

I took the surround down originally but it was so brittle that putting any pressure on it just caused more cracks so I was better putting it in place and tucking over a 10mm bit of vinyl then using the rubber to hold it in place and then glue and stick firm.

Bit of a sore neck job but worked out OK

The light housing etc is now refitted

Probably see it better when it's less sunny

It's the trim round the opening I thought it was the plastic housing the handle fits through.

Your van looks nearly identical to mine. I have a star line 650 what’s your van 🤗

Sorry Tam...last question on this before I lose the bit in the thread...is it one relay thingy per light or do I only need one relay switch thingy ? I assume I’ll need a crimping Tool as well to crimp the wires into the spade ends ?
Sorry I missed this ....you need one relay for the two drl lights...i gave you the link before

And then if you are fitting a light bar for high beam spotlight you will need another relay for that .

Buy the kits they are cheap enough, come with everything needed and clear instructions how to wire them up.

Crimping tool or pliers and a careful hand

I always carry things like that In the van anyway .....as last year proved they come in handy.

just done my mums food shopping ....First time with the mandatory face coverings.....not a pleasant experience ...couldn't breathe properly ,sweating like mad , glasses kept falling off my face ...felt nauseas couldn't wait to get out the shop

You would not make a living working as a diver then...When you think that is what NHS staff in A & E have to wear for a shift..Only problem i have is my specs steam up..BUSBY.

I thought £100 for the bit I though it was, was a bit steep but that is rediculous.
I was quoted £131 by Hymer for the flimsy plastic backshell that slips into the bodywork to accommodate the high-level brake light. My experience is that Brownhills start any conversation about Hymer parts with "I'm sorry when I tell you what Hymer want you won't buy it" and they're usually correct. Hymer plastics aren't good. I replaced my identical rooflight with a bigger Heki because of splitting plastic issues.

OK...thanks Tam...yes ordered to relay...unfortunately I omitted to look at the delivery date before pressing BUY and it’s 11 September 🙄. Will have to cancel and find one that comes sooner. If you hear on the news that someone veered off a cliff in a Motorhome...believed to be travelling without lights you’ll know who it is.

Thanks again.

Yep me too that's why my high level brake light was removed....not worth the cost of repairing it ....removed and fibreglassed it

I had considered replacing my large skylight with a heki but it will mean doing away with the surround with lights in etc

I just made a simple crescent-shaped plywood light panel with two downlighting spots in it connected to the same wires. Covered the crescent with beige wall cloth. They were actually useful.

Maybe next year then as my skylight has a little bit damage on one of the mountings

Everything I've read suggests that there will be no change in the way you can bring your dogs back into the UK. What isn't very clear is what other countries will require before you can enter them.

I would speak to your vet Tam. There is a lot of conflicting into on here.

I did speak to vet just a few weeks ago and I'm due to get mine vaccinated end of July for travelling start of September.

When I spoke to them they said that was OK....but folk keep posting up other stuff and it gets confusing and worrying

That document was last updated in October 2019! As pet owenrs we need to know a.s.a.p. what category the U.K. will be in so that we can make plans. Vets are likely to be inundated if it is left much longer as, according to this document, if we are an unlisted country, then we must wait 3 months from the date the successful blood sample was taken before you can travel. It's the usual shambles from this government.

Personally Tam , if I was planning to be traveling,(which thankfully I'm not) I would be getting my dogs the titre test at the earliest opportunity , in case there were any hic-cups.
If it is not needed, shrug and put it down to experience, at least you would know the dogs were covered where ever and whenever you planned to go.
