Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

He's not far away from me Geographically speaking. I'll take the motorhome across the Queensferry crossing and see if I can find him ?️‍♂️

He'll be busy doing takeaway deliveries. A lot of restaurants have closed which means the ones that haven't are more busy and desperate for drivers.

I must say I haven’t seen ANY anti-Scottish sentiments or language used....perhaps I’m not reading enough threads
I've never seen any either except for a bit of banter regarding the fish woman, and English politicians get a far tougher ride on here than any Scot.
Anyway the Scots are our best friends aren't they ? after all, well all be up there as soon as we're done with covid-19 (y)

I must say I haven’t seen ANY anti-Scottish sentiments or language used....perhaps I’m not reading enough threads....I’m sure there’s a few jibes or tongue in cheek comments...or even chip on the shoulder stuff but nothing serious I wouldn’t have thought.
Trouble today is so many are very touchy.take offence so easily..BUSBY.??

Hows this for a thread drift then>

Did I ever mention that I was child smuggled at an early age from Kilwining, Ayrshire to a secret to me location near Heathrow Airport.
The excuse given was my fathers new job at BEA, but I ended up stuck in Ashford, Middx, until I got married.
I used to have the mickey taken out of me by some of the English Boys at first. as when surrounded by them, I would play it cool by saying "Is that A fact?"or Mejium instead of medium, or Fillem instead of movie, many, many words too...ken wit a meen, ....Ejjit..... un aw that (and all that).

Anyhows, my now distant family are still all over Ayrshire,I used to go help out as a "wee wean", on the farms they had when the long summer school holidays were on., even had a few dry days back then;)

I did visit the surviving uncles & aunties last spring, and they still wind me up! as they still called me the English Sassenach of the family.

I feel totally rejected as a Scot now, how the hell all the refugees were let in up there, given houses and accepted is beyond me.
I believe it started in a tame way after the war with The Italians, they used their ice cream skills & cafe culture to bribe the locals.
They even developed broad Glaswegian accents,to blend in further, but then so did all the Take Out places, of all denominations, Chinese & Indian, you name it.

So you see, Its all gone full circle nowadays, and Tam, an Indigenous Scot, is now helping them develop their Take Out Client base up there even further.

And of course we all must bear in mind that Glaswegians are renowned for their shy and sensitive nature so we should all be careful not to offend the poor wee mites...rest of the Scots fare game...

Some people have different ways of dealing with things, and avoiding rule 1 is more difficult for some than others. ? Bob.

Still alive ....been busy , don't come on here as much at the minute, too many arguments and folk boiling my wee wee so it's hard not to get in bother. Best to stay oot.

Anyway I've been working 7 nights a week for the last 4- 6 weeks I'm knackered but money is good if I ever get the chance to go off exploring again. The little towcar I bought has done amazing and from that £750 investment it's made me nearly £12k since december ? ......and done 13000 miles in the process

So I gave it a wee makeover as a thank you

Toby has been getting spoiled too

Hes had a new engine battery , oil , oil filter , air filter, diesel filter and front struts fitted. Welded up the what started as 2 small holes but ended up considerably bigger holes behind front wheels , cleaned up all under arches and chassis and repainted and stonechipped protected.

Removing the front struts was a job and a half .....the amount of wiring to move under dash to access them my hands were ripped to bits ...I also found a load of redundant wires left over from mr bodgit the previous owner which have now been removed

Anyway I got a good sense of achievement having done them myself...

And as you can see they were both well and truly knackered ...the left hand one had no oil left in it at all.

Then it was on to the welding ....when I removed the plastic arch liners you could really see how bad it was getting

Cut all that rot out and patched in new metal ...haven't welded In years so quite impressed how it turned out.....but sore lying around on the ground ...I'm getting too old for this

So now it's on to the rear end as I'm going to clean up and paint the rear chassis and replace the rear shocks too ...they arent leaking but rusty and possibly 16 years old so time for new ones , probably change brake shoes as well then change all brake fluid ,

I've a slave cylinder to fit as it's got a slight leak and then find a garage to do the timing belt as not tackling that myself.

Also wanting to replace the kitchen and bathroom taps , one of the solar panels and the main control panel possibly the ebl

Might as well do it all now while I can't go anywhere .

Enjoy the pics

Xx
